Shadow Work Meditation – New Moon

We are just starting to edge into the autumn and I am already hearing the knock of Shadow Work. For those of you are new to Shadow Work, it is a way of looking at the aspects of yourself that you try to keep hidden. These can often keep you from moving forward.

For more information on Shadow Work you can download my free Shadow Work Journal (it is also available in hard copy if you would prefer). CLICK HERE

Use this meditation to begin looking at your shadow and see what information you receive.

Take a few deep breaths and close your eyes. See the darkness in front of your eyes. How do you feel in the dark? What sensations do you have in the dark place?

Feel a presence near you. They are also dark and clouded. They are a guide who has come to lead you into your shadow. They are not a light and happy guide but you do not feel afraid of them. They are there to help you.

Move with your guide further into the shadow. In a small crevice you come upon a being. This being is an uncomfortable feeling you have been having lately. What is that feeling? Where does that feeling arise from?

Can you reach out to this feeling without judgments? Can you see it as a part of you and embrace it? This feeling is a culmination of many experiences in your life and is not something you need to push away. Do not suffer because you feel this way, accept that this feeling will come and go. Understanding where the feeling comes from may help you have compassion for yourself in feeling this way.

Just sit with this feeling for a while and acknowledge it. Make friends with your feeling.

Does this time just sitting with your feeling and examining it give you a hint on what would calm this feeling? What would make you feel more comfortable? Give a final hug to this being and join your guide again.

If you feel like you have the energy you can follow your guide to visit another feeling. If not, you have done enough for now and allow yourself to return to your physical body. Hear the sounds around your physical body. Wiggle your fingers and toes and when you feel ready open your eyes.

To explore deeper think about or write down answers to the following questions:

What feeling did you visit?

How did it feel to sit with this being?

Did you gain any insights into this feeling?

Are there any changes you could make to calm this feeling?

Take care, Jessica Cross

Guided Meditation for Peace – Full Moon

As we start to head into the autumn it is a good time to find your comforts. Who and what helps bring your peace. Is there a cozy way to gather with your people, either in a group or just one on one? Find those who remind you what is good in your life.

There is a Full Moon coming up.  It may help illuminate what you need even more.  Try this meditation a few days before and again on the day of the Full Moon. Use this meditation to explore a feeling of peace and comfort with some guides.

Take a few deep breaths and close your eyes. Find yourself standing alongside a tunnel dug into the earth. It is a large tunnel but in order to enter you will need to sit down and slide in as it is very steep.

The tunnel makes you feel curious and you have no fear about entering it. When you are ready, sit down and slide into the tunnel. It is a long slide and much of the tunnel is dark. As you begin to slow down you see light coming from the end of the tunnel. You stand up and walk towards the end of the tunnel.

You are now in the lower realm. How does this world look different from your physical reality? The lower realm is noisy with animals and you see lots of movement in the grass and trees around you. The animals here do not seem afraid of you.

Soon a deer walks out from the trees and comes only a foot away from you. Look into the deer’s eyes. You can communicate through eye contact. You may hear words and be able to “speak” back to the deer, or you may communicate through pictures or feelings.

The deer indicates that you should follow them. The deer leads you off towards the trees. A family of deer is waiting there. Look each in the eye as greeting. You can ask what they are there to teach you.

As a group they walk into the trees and you follow. You feel the comfort of being with this group. They enjoy your company and it is peaceful walking through the woods with them. There is no need to do anything or think about anything. Just walk and enjoy the group and environment.

After you relax with the deer in the woods, the deer that guided you turns towards you. The deer tells you that it is time for you to return and find your own tribe. The deer asks who you know that you can feel this kind of peace with. If you do not have people like that in your life, it is time to seek them out.

The message is clear and simple. Thank the deer. You have enjoyed this time with the deer and would like to bring more of this into your life. Walk back through the woods towards the tunnel.

As you enter the tunnel, you notice to the left that there is a ladder that leads back up. Climb the latter. It is a long climb but you are calm and peaceful as you ascend. When you exit the tunnel you can begin to return to your physical body.

Hear the sounds around you. Wiggle your fingers and toes, and when you are ready, open your eyes.

Write down some notes and/or pull three tarot or oracle cards for more insight.

Do you need more peace in your life?

What brings you peace?

Who do you feel peaceful with?

Full Moon Lunar Eclipse Meditation

This Monday is not only a Full Moon but a Lunar Eclipse. You may be feeling a bit strange and maybe confused around this time. This is a wonderful time to seek some guidance in order to sail smoothly through this eclipse season.

This is a good time to sift through what has happened in your life over the past six months since the last eclipse. What path have you been on? Is it a path you want to continue on or is it time to shift gears.

We also just started the harvest season with Lammas on August 1st. Take this time to look carefully at what you are bringing into your life. Is what you are receiving worth the effort you have put in? What do you have that you would like more of? Is the journey and/or the outcome bringing you joy…really?

Use the following meditation to ask for guidance while this energy is strong.

Take a few deep breaths and close your eyes. Find yourself looking over a vast field of wheat with mountains in the background. You are standing on a path through this field and can smell the wheat that is high all around you. A guide comes walking through the field towards you.

Greet your guide as they approach you. You may ask their name if they are new to you. Ask if they have come to join you on your journey today. They say they have and they would like to lead you to a sacred place.

They take your hand and lead you off into the wheat. You walk for what seems to be a long ways until you reach a tiny clearing in the wheat. It is only large enough for you and a few other people to sit. There is a group of three others already seated in a semi-circle. You and your guide join them closing the circle.

Look at your companions. Are any familiar to you? You may ask their names if you are curious. The group joins hands as if by impulse. You look at the circle and know the others are all seeking some guidance as well. You feel close to the others although you may not know them.

Your guide says you are all to take a deep breath and blow the air into the circle with a “Ha” noise. The guide says the group is to repeat this until told to stop. You begin to follow the instructions (you may do this with you physical body as well if you are so inclined).

As you continue to blow your breath, it seems to take on substance. It is like a fog you are all blowing to the center of the circle. The fog starts to coalesce into a column in the center. Slowly it starts to take on the form and features of a person. This person may stay in fog form or may begin to look fully formed.

Your guide in the circle say the group can now stop blowing out air. The person in the center of circle does not vanish and begins to look at each member in the circle. This person then bends down to each member and gives them a message. The person tells the journeyer next to you that they are special and their gifts are needed. What does this person tell the other circle members?

When this person gets to you what do they say? Don’t worry if the message comes in thoughts, pictures or feelings. Does this person give you guidance about the path you are on? Thank them once the message is received.

After this person has spoken with each circle member they nod to the guide who brought you and disappear. After another deep breath each member of the circle stands. Each member turns their back on the circle and takes one step towards the wheat field. Before entering the wheat field you can return to your physical body.

Hear the sounds around you. Wiggle your fingers and toes and when you feel ready, open your eyes.

Write down some notes and/or pull some tarot or oracle cards for more guidance on each of the following questions.

Who offers you guidance in your life?

Where are you struggling to move forward?

What can you learn from the message given?

August Energies

There are a lot of powerful energies.  For me in the Northern Hemisphere, August is the time for our last push through the summer.  Then we start heading into a more introspective time in the fall.

Although you want to make sure that you start everything that you want to get done this year, you also need to make sure to schedule some downtime to check you are heading in the right direction.

Are the goals you made at the beginning of the year still resonating with you or is it time to shift gears?  There is no shame in changing your mind and following your intuition to head in a better direction.

August

1

Make a concrete plan.

2

Become more serious.

3

Find your joy.

4

Take time to rest.

5

Connect with your feelings.

6

Focus your energy.

7

Watch what happens naturally.

8

Stop your regular routine to reassess your values.

9

Face your fear.

10

11

Share your gifts.

12

Let a problem flow away.

13

Let go of conflict.

14

Start with a blank slate.

15

Research an idea.

16

Be open and connect with others.

17

Seek stillness.

18

Find the sacred in daily life.

19

Celebrate nature.

20

Don’t fight the natural flow.

21

Take time to day-dream.

22

Life is Magical.

23

Who gives you guidance?

24

Express your ideas.

25

Make space to just think.

26

Gather with others.

27

Be a source of light.

28

Blend your skills with those of others.

Focus your Energy this New Moon

This New Moon is about starting on a new journey. Finding a new area to learn, expand and/or create. This new moon should give you the energy to start over in some area of your life. Use this guided meditation to contemplate where you would like to use that energy.

Take a few deep breaths and close your eyes. Find yourself standing in front of a tube of energy. What does the energy look like to you? What color is it? Is it solid or does it have openings throughout the tunnel? The tunnel is large enough for a person to walk through.

How do you feel being near the tunnel? Place your hands on the energy the tunnel is made of. What does it feel like? How does it make you feel?

This is a tunnel of power. By walking through it you can start building a new attribute inside yourself. When you walk out the other end it won’t be fully formed but will start growing. What skill, feeling, trait or understanding would you like to have more of?

Once you are certain of the attribute you have chosen, bend over slightly and enter the tunnel. How does it feel being inside the tunnel? What does it feel like to be surrounded by all that energy? Walk slowly and give the energy time to penetrate all of the cells in your body.

Walk out of the tunnel and see how you feel. Think of the attribute you have chosen. Why is this something you want more of in your life?

What might be the first sign that this new attribute had started to grow? How would you act differently? How would you think differently? What would look different in your life? Remember, this is just the beginning of this change so what you see may be small.

Take a few more deep breaths and feel how you are different. It may be a very slight change but it can grow if it is nurtured. Feel this change settle into your body and allow it to nestle in deep so it can continue to grow.

When you feel ready you can return to your physical body. Hear the sounds around you. Wiggle your fingers and toes, and open your eyes.

Take some notes so you do not forget this meditation and can check back on the progress of your attribute.

Does change have a physical feeling for you?

Is there something that you have wanted to cultivate in your life?

How would you know if this was just starting to grow in your life?

What do you think this change would bring you?

Can you have the patience to nurture something that may take a long time to become fully formed?

Fire Dragon Meditation – by The Magickal Life of the Snow Orchid Witch

My study of fire has been very… illuminating- pun intended. Reigniting the flame within, shined a light on everything I didn’t want to see. It exposed shadows I had long suppressed out of fear
