Self-Destructive Heroes--Featured YA Book PAST CONTINUOUS

How do you feel about self-destructive heroes and heroines in the books you read? Does it matter if the hero/heroine is an adult or a teen?
Our featured book today is K. Ryer Breese's Past Continuous, a Young Adult paranormal about a seriously self-destructive--but ultimately redeemable--hero. First, let's look at the official blurb for the book, then talk some of our favorite heroes and their bad habits!
ABOUT THE BOOK: Ade Patience has done what he was told he couldn't. He's broken the...

Music in Fiction: THE HUM AND THE SHIVER

Timeto shake things up a little here at Preternatura—change is good, right? I'mgoing to try something new for the next couple of weeks and see how it goes. Alot depends on you, my friends, because instead of sticking up a book, runninga three-sentence "review" and sponsoring a giveaway, I want to take a featuredbook and talk about something related to it—and still sponsor the giveaway, of course! And we'll still have our Monday new releases and Reader's Choice and ourWednesday book club, so...

Welcome to this week's "meeting" of the Preternatura BookClub! Today, we continue with the first book in Jeaniene Frost's Night Huntressseries, Halfway to the Grave.
Here's how it works. Each week, I'll post a summary(spoiler alert!) on two chapters, and we'll chat about them. Try to minimizespoilers beyond what's happened in the book we've read so far. You can readalong, read ahead, or just stop by and read the summaries. After the Book Clubhas been up a few days, I'll move it to archives so ...

Congrats to JENN3128, who won the Halloween giveaway of Alex Bledsoe's terri...

Baskets, swaggishness, and other stuff

My urban fantasy has some "romantic elements" in it, but even though it's not a romance, the nice folks at Southern Magic let me hang out with them anyway. Some great authors will be there, like Lexi George, Jennifer Echols, JF Lewis and keynote speaker Vict...
