Please Welcome Deborah Garland
Go Behind the Scenes For Love by Deborah Garland
Thanks for having me, Jennifer and letting me tell your readers about my new novel, “Must Love Fashion” which was released by Roane Publishing on August 7th.Taking a peek behind the curtain has been a common theme for me. My first novel “Forty Times Platinum” brought readers into the back offices of a music label. In my latest novel, “Must Love Fashion” releasing this month, we go behind the scenes of a fashion giant. But it wasn’t supposed to be that way.In an earlier version of the novel, Andrew worked in the fashion industry, but Gwen was a textile designer. It gave them a common thread (no pun). But the setting of the original novel was different. When that novel crashed and burned, or should I say drowned (inside joke), I’d decided Andrew’s job was more interesting and made this a workplace romance. And the new title “Must Love Fashion” was born. The first thing I had to imagine was the office layout, since so much of the story takes place there. One of the early conflicts is that Gwen and Andrew must share an office until a space opens up for Gwen. (Forced Proximity) While writing and choreographing where they were standing during heated conversations and then eventually the good heat that comes between them, I imagined my old boss’ office. I can still see it in my head; where Gwen’s temporary desk would be with the large window on the far wall. While that real window looked out onto a boring suburban parking lot, Gwen gets to stare out onto the Manhattan skyline and even has a glimpse of the Hudson River.“Must Love Fashion” is a quick paced novel as the clock is ticking down to a Fashion Show that Gwen and Andrew must work on together. I relied upon many years of watching Project Runway season finales to bring to life the chaos that happens behind the runway. And it’s after the show that Gwen and Andrew’s love story begins. In a short amount of time, readers are whisked through Milan, Los Angeles, Manhattan and settle into the fictional North Fork town on Long Island called Darling Cove (Gwen’s home town). The next book in the Darling Cove series, “Must Have Faith” will be anchored more in the small wine hamlet where Gwen’s brother, Greg Mallory, a village police officer must face his runaway bride, Faith Copeland who’s moved back home. Check out my website for updates on Must Have Faith’s release which should be sometime next year. http://www.deborahgarlandauthor.com/blog/2017/03/22/must-have-faith/
For now, please enjoy a sneak peek of some of “Must Love Fashion”:
Blurb:
Gwendolyn Mallory has landed her dream job. After years at a small fashion retailer, she’s been given a chance to show off her public relations skills for a major brand. What woman wouldn’t be excited to work for Prada in New York City? Former male model turned Prada Brand Manager, Andrew Morgan is ready to move on with his life—his wife passed away from cancer fifteen months ago. Even though he and Gwen share an initial fiery spark, getting involved with a co-worker has always been on Andrew’s to-don’t list. With a fashion show in L.A. a month away, Andrew and Gwen find a way to work together. And with the help of some good old-fashioned jealousy, she brings to life a sexy devil…who just happens to wear Prada.
Excerpt:
“Sometimes you don’t realize what a hole you have in your life until someone fills it.”Annoyed, Gwen roughly draped her scarf around her neck and put on her coat. But those frayed edges once again caught on one of her charm bracelets. “Son of a…” Her free hand reached up to loosen the scarf from her neck before it strangled her. But it snagged on the clasp of her necklace and twisted; trapping her as if she were in a straitjacket. “Are you kidding me?” she growled.Furiously, she shrugged out of the coat, sending it flying across the office. “Excuse me.” A deep gravelly voice drifted in from the doorway.Gwen swung around and locked eyes with the most devastatingly handsome man she’d ever seen. Andrew! “Oh hi!” She held up her hand revealing the tangled mess she’d made of herself. “Looks like you’ve gotten yourself tied up there.” Andrew put down his bag and moved toward her with powerful long legs covered in what she knew had to be a pair of Prada dress slacks. In an instant, he was touching her hand and…her neck. “What’s caught on what here?”“I can do it.” She backed away. It was startling to be so close to him. That photo did not do this man justice. He was even more stunning in person. He was so tall and broad. Heat radiated from his body; removing the chill that clung to her all week from the drafty window. “I think you’ve done enough.” Andrew snagged her wrist again. His commanding hold made her feel like Lois Lane when Superman rose up, caught her and said, I’ve got you.

Time For Another One
A couple of years ago, when I was busy with other areas of my life, I had very little time to devote to my writing. Sure, I found time to write—I had to in order to keep my sanity—but there wasn’t time to devote to finding publishers to buy my manuscripts.
Fast forward to last year, when I decided to adjust my priorities and extract myself from everything that was stressing me out and making me miserable, writing was the one thing that made me happy, so I kept at it (well, that and my family, but they’re the constant anyway) and found that I had a number of manuscripts that were ready to go. So I queried publishers and found them a home.
A few weeks ago, Addicted to Love was released out into the world (if you've already read it, I'd really appreciate it if you could post a review on the vendor's website) and in a couple of more weeks, another book I wrote will be released. In the Moment is unrelated to Addicted to Love, but is coming out September 1. I’ve been so busy promoting Addicted to Love that I haven’t had much of a chance to talk about In the Moment, so here goes.
First of all, it was inspired by a house. A Victorian mansion, to be exact. Several years ago, the girls and I toured an open house of this beautiful mansion and we all fell in love with it. Since we didn’t have a few spare million dollars lying around, all we could do was walk through it and drool, but I decided it would make the perfect setting for a book.
And it did.
Since then, I’ve stalked it on realtor.com and ogled the pictures of the different rooms, but I also wrote and edited the story. And on September 1, it will come to life. When I worked with my publisher on the cover, I had very specific ideas in my head of what I wanted that cover to look like. Unfortunately, having specific ideas for a cover is never a good idea unless I’m the cover designer, which I’m not. But my publisher’s art department are miracle workers, and while it’s not exactly the picture in my head, it’s so close I’m kind of in awe.
For the next few weeks, I’ll be promoting this one, as well as continuing to promote the other, so I hope you’ll put up with me and maybe even pass along and share the info I provide so other people can read my books. But in the meantime, here is the blurb for In the Moment and the Amazon pre-order link (other vendors coming soon). I hope you like it as much as I do!
Cassie Edwards, a former foster child, purchases an 1870s Victorian mansion, the one home from her childhood where she felt like part of a family. She’s spending her summer lovingly restoring it, with dreams of one day raising a family of her own here. Rayne Tucket, a photojournalist, is haunted by the death of his best friend in Afghanistan, a death he thinks is his fault. He survives day to day. Forever is not in his vocabulary. Swearing off photography, he answers an ad for a handyman—mindless, no emotion involved. As the two of them renovate her house, can Cassie show Rayne that love is strong enough to heal all wounds?

Welcome Melinda Dozier
Today my guest is Melinda Dozier, talking about her very first book.
Time Changes Everything Made Me a Real Writer?
I’m so happy to be here today to talk about my book baby, Time Changes Everything. No really. I. am. REALLY. Excited! Like butterflies in the stomach, excited. This book is the very first book I’ve ever written. Though I’ve written many more since then, this is my first. Literally, it is my book baby, and I wrote it while on maternity leave and I had a REAL baby writing a book baby. You get my drift.
The idea came to me as I was reading one of my favorite Harlequins. (I’ve been a devoted fan since I was 13-years old.) What if I tried to actually write this stuff? So, I sat at my ancient Apple Macinstosh, let me fingers take over, and Jake and Amanda were born! I was amazed! I could actually write romance! Was I a real writer now?
At first I wrote it for myself, for fun, to say that I could do it. Then,as time passed, I had the inkling to actually try to publish it. Would that make me a real writer? I had no idea what to do with that, so I researched, networked online, and learned. This took quite a while. In fact, motherhood to three boys and a full-time job, put Time Changes Everything on hold. But when my youngest turned six, my husband asked me, “Whatever happened to that story of yours? You should really try to finish it and publish it,” and I thought, “yeah, you’re right.” (I won’t deny it. Hubs was right this time!)
So, six years later, my book baby, Time Changes Everything changed everything. (See what I did there?) I took the plunge to publish and became a “real writer.” After several inquiries, it was actually contracted by a small publisher. Wow! I ran through the hallways of the school I taught at, holding my contract high in the air, screaming “I’m going to be a writer!” I really learned more than I bargained for by being published. I met my core group of writing friends, learned all about editing and the publishing process from beginning to end.
But, yet again, a wrench was thrown my way. The small publisher closed its doors only 8 months after publishing Time Changes Everything, and it wasn’t a smooth closing. I felt like I had worked so hard for nothing. My baby was there, then taken away. Was I no longer a real writer?
Here’s the thing...What I’ve learned is that you’re a writer, if you think you’re a writer. You’re a writer if you put your heart and soul into your craft. You’re a writer if you have words on paper and even words in your head. The publisher, the contract, the well-known name does not make you a writer.
Even though Time Changes Everything sat on the back burner for several years after that, I was still a writer. Published or not. The fact is, though, I wanted to be published. It was my dream. I went on to publish more books with known presses, and I’m still learning and pursuing to improve my craft.
My latest adventure is Time Changes Everything in all its glory TODAY. Self-publishing my book baby has been another step in my writing career and I cannot even begin to tell you how happy I am to have this book be my first self-pubbed romance novel. It’s always been there as the first with me. The first to make me think like a writer. The first to actually write from beginning to end. The first to publish. The first to say goodbye to and, now, the first to re-release.
Time really does change everything! But one thing has stayed constant. I am a writer. Always have been and always will.

Blurb: Amanda Larson is dedicated to her job and doesn't want to make time for anything else. Until she runs into Jake Edwards. He used to be the cute boy next door; now he's a sexy, big shot lawyer.
Jake Edwards isn't interested in commitment. He's successful, sexy, and single--and that's how he likes it. When he reconnects with Amanda, Jake realizes he might have to rethink his philosophy on the carefree, bachelor lifestyle.
But, is it too late for them? Or can he convince her that he's ready to give her his heart?

SNIPPET 1:He took a step closer and shook his head, looking hotter than she’d ever seen him. His hands still rested in his pockets and his serious deep-blue eyes stared at her. “You don’t have to be scared of me.”
“I actually don’t trust myself, Jake.” She switched her weight to her other leg and rolled her eyes.
“Why? You think you’re going to jump me?” He chuckled as he took his last step to her. “I wouldn’t mind.” His gaze traveled over her face, as if he were memorizing every freckle.
He wanted more. Hell, she did too. But then what?
“So, you think that after I jump you, all this will go away?” She pointed back and forth. “That this attraction will be out of our system and we can continue to be friends? Is that how it works for you?”
He clasped her body tightly to his, his hands wrapped around the sides of her waist, his breath on her face. “What I know is we’ve passed the line of friendship already, so we should just stop holding back.”
Excerpt #1: In high school, Amanda was someone special. Hell, even before then. Their parents were best friends, which had forced Jake and Amanda together. At first, he’d thought it was a hindrance. Later, when she developed longer legs and a bigger bust, he found himself around her more. After discovering her quirkiness, her love of art and her sense of humor, he actually enjoyed being around her. But he never touched her.
He contemplated running his fingers through her hair like he did his first year of college –– the last time they were alone –– the night he left town and never saw her again.
Did she remember the night he left? Of course she did. Seven years ago, he’d ruined their friendship. He knew Amanda almost as well as he knew himself. Well, he’d known her. Now she was a different woman.
Jake leaned in closer, running his hand down her arm. “Know what I’m thinking?”
Amanda fiddled with her coaster and smiled at him. “I’m not sure I want to know.”
“I’m thinking we should spend a lot more time together.” He reached over and held her chin. “It’s been way too long.”
Amanda licked her lips, and damn it, it actually turned him on. Sweet little Mandy Larson wasn’t so sweet anymore. She was driving him crazy.
She moved closer bridging distance. “Why wait? There’s no time like the present.”
“Exactly.” He drank the last of his beer as the waiter returned with her martini sans olive.
Jake leaned on the table with his elbows, folded his hands together and studied her.
“Look at you, drinking a martini, living the life in New York City.” He examined her from head to toe. “A sexy skirt. Tall boots.” He ran a finger down her cheek. “A beautiful face.”
Amanda hiccupped and put down her glass. “Now, wait a minute. I know it’s been a while, but some things never change, including you.” She wagged her finger at him. “No smooth talking with me. Don’t forget I used to know you better than anybody.”
Because his fingers actually ached with the need to touch her again, he reached over and held her hand. “Yeah, but things have changed, Mandy. We’re two different people now, and I can’t wait to get to know who you are now.”

The Countdown
She’s back! We’re all under the same roof, even though not everyone wants to be here. We feel more like a family than a bed & breakfast. And now the countdown starts.
Usually my countdown starts as soon as the kids leave for camp. I have only a certain number of weeks, days, hours responsible only for myself before they return and my life has to semi-revolve around what they need from me. So even though my time is my own and I can relax, there’s an end in sight that ticks away in the back of my mind.
This time, that wasn’t the case. There was no sense of “only x amount of time until…” Maybe because one was home and the other called every day? I’m not sure. But I didn’t face the end of each day with a sense of “never again” or “one less.”
But now that everyone is home, laundry is beginning. Summer homework is beginning. Plans for short trips are beginning. And suddenly the summer has a countdown...
...a countdown until the birthday trip...a countdown until the birthday...a countdown until the college visits...a countdown until band...a countdown until the summer job ends ...a countdown until college
What was once a long stretch of summer is all of a sudden parsed into short bursts of activity, punctuated by even shorter times of nothing. And I suspect my attempts at sitting back and letting things happen as others want them to will fail miserably going forward. Because now there’s no time for procrastination and I’m much better at following my own idea of a schedule than anyone else’s.
Going to be a fun few weeks!

Grocery Store Insanity
Wegmans opened up nearby this weekend. I received the postcards in the mail and signed up for the shopper card. Given the lousy selection of grocery stores in my area—causing most of us to go multiple places in order to complete our entire list, or settle for a store close by that we don’t like—we were all pretty excited. And since I’d spent the three days prior to the opening consumed with my book release, I needed to get out of the house and into civilization.
Or so I thought.
According to a local news article, people actually camped out the night before outside the store. I haven’t camped out since I was a teenager waiting for concert tickets. There’s something wrong with camping out for food when you can afford to buy anything you want.
So Sunday, I took my list and I drove to the store. The cars were lined up on the highway. There were police cars directing traffic. No grocery store is worth this. I turned around and went home.
Today I went there as I was doing errands. There was no line of cars. I was easily able to find a parking spot. There were lots of people inside checking out what was offered, but the lines moved fast (except for the two teens who clearly had never gone through a self-checkout lane and had no clue what to do). I bought what was on my list and I explored a little.
I like Wegmans. I’m glad it’s close by. And they have great quality and unique offerings that other stores don’t stock. But I’m also glad I skipped opening day, even though I had planned to go. Although I missed out on the free samples, I also missed out sitting on the highway with my car idling, wasting gas. I missed out on the frustration of standing behind a million people checking out their groceries.
Because it’s food, people. Fancy food, yes. Yummy food that I plan to buy later, yes. But it’s still just food.

College Shopping
We went college shopping for the Princess yesterday. Maybe I should say college “supply” shopping, since we’ve basically been college shopping for years now (and I’m still doing it for Banana Girl).
When I got engaged, I scoured magazines for to-do lists and timelines and let me tell you, I OWNED that. I did everything I was supposed to do when I was supposed to do it—or instructed my mom and others to do it for me, exactly how I wanted it.
When I got pregnant, I bought every single pregnancy book, studied every single website and took every single class they offered—at least once if not multiple times during the same pregnancy. I took into account superstitions that wouldn’t let me prepare too early and advice from other moms.
I should not have been surprised that there are college supply lists, college advice websites and catalogs and magazines dedicated to filling a dorm room with every conceivable item your student might find necessary. I read them all.
Despite my dislike of killing trees, I printed them out. I brought the catalogs with me. I even gave my husband specific jobs to do once we arrived at the store.
But one look at the Princess’ red face when we walked in and I abandoned them all—well, not the part about giving my husband instructions. Seriously, does anyone EVER skip a chance to do that? But I looked at her and realized she was totally out of her element. She had no idea what she wanted or what she needed. The fact that her roommate was with us was great—she kept her calm and gave her things to laugh at. But I knew if I went through my multiple lists, I’d lose her. So we wandered the appropriate aisles and gravitated to the things she wanted. I gave much of my advice to her roommate while the Princess was in earshot—the Princess is much more likely to listen when I’m not talking to her. J And we probably bought things we don’t need/won’t use. We definitely bought way more now, rather than holding it to pick up from the local store on the day of move-in, than we intended. And we bought multiple bedding, since she still can’t decide what she wants. But I can, and will, return unneeded/unwanted items.
I was way less anal than when I made my wedding registry/timeline. I was way less prepared than when I shopped for baby. I didn't look at my lists.
But we smiled.

Please Welcome Beth Trissel
Beth is another fellow Wild Rose Press author, with a book releasing today. Congratulations and welcome!
Thanks for having me on your blog, Jennifer. I’m excited to be back into writing time travels again and to share about my new release, Somewhere My Lady (Book 1, Ladies in Time).
Inspiration for this story came in various ways, but if I had to choose one, I’d say music. Edith's Theme, the hauntingly beautiful song from Crimson Peak, stirred my imagination long before I watched the movie, which was after I finished the book. Other songs in the soundtrack also sent my imagination soaring, but that one really did. Scenes took shape in my mind, especially the ghostly dance I wrote in chapter one.
Another draw for me is old homes. I’ve lived in them most of my life and visited others. The stately brick home in the Shenandoah Valley where my father grew up dates back to 1816. It’s called Chapel Hill and lies behind many of the homes I write. I also love gardening and have sprawling beds filled with heirloom flowers and herbs. Some plants have been here for ages and our valley farm-house was built in the 1870's.
Abraham Darby Rose
Double Apricot HollyhockThe gardens in Somewhere My Lady are especially beautiful and I used herbs in the story. Old homes exude an indefinable sense of place. Families filled them with the emotions accompanying the events taking place in their lives. The walls witnessed their sagas, good and bad, and absorbed the energy. A much lived in home is never really empty. Perhaps the spirits of those who once dwelt there come back and visit, or they leave a part of themselves behind. I don't know, but I like a good ghost story.
Harrison Hall, the colonial era home in Somewhere My Lady, is loosely based on Shirley Plantation, a magnificent 18th century home built along the James River in Virginia. In the story, this wonderful manor sized house is a paranormal hot spot, concealing a deadly mystery Hart and Lorna must solve.
"Somewhere My Lady is a fun supernatural romance that will have you slipping in and out of the past and future as if you were a spirit yourself.’’ ~Colleen’s Book Reviews
Story Blurb: Lorna Randolph is hired for the summer at Harrison Hall in Virginia, where Revolutionary-War reenactors provide guided tours of the elegant old home. She doesn't expect to receive a note and a kiss from the handsome young man who then vanishes into mist.
Harrison Hall itself has plans for Lorna – and for Hart Harrison, her momentary suitor and its 18th century heir. Past and present are bound by pledges of love, and modern science melds with old skills and history as Harrison Hall takes Lorna and Hart through time in a race to solve a mystery and save Hart's life before the Midsummer Ball.
Excerpt:
Something about him held her spellbound…the tilt of his head, arch of his brow, glimpse of his profile… She followed his every move with the fixity of an owl.
He turned blue-gray eyes toward her and sensuous lips curved into a smile on his handsome face. Hands down. No contest. He was the hottest guy ever. Her heart beat a thrilling new rhythm.
He circled closer to where she stood rooted in the foyer, not moving a toe, scarcely drawing breath. Did he truly see her backed tremulously against the wall, or did it only feel that way?Unlike the others in the ghostly assembly, his eyes didn’t skirt past her. He paused in the dance. Bending at the shoulders, he tipped his hand to her in a genteel flourish.
He’d freakin’ bowed. Her jaw dropped. He most definitely saw her. And she sure as heck saw him.
A sparking sizzle jumped between them, awakening her as she’d never been roused before. Even more than when the house charged through her at her arrival. It was as if she were plugged in—to him.
How that could be, she had no idea, but when he gazed into her eyes, time seemed to stop. She spiraled into moonless stars, and back again to this dizzying realm. To him. Even if she were dreaming, she’d never forget this moment.

Book Release Day Party!
With my book releasing on July 21, I realized I should probably do something to celebrate. Because, you know, it’s a book, and I’ve had a really long dry spell, and even if I hadn’t, it’s exciting. Some people throw parties. And I would, except:I’d have to figure out whom to invite, which is a lot harder than it sounds--I don't want certain friends to feel obligated to come and/or buy my book.I’m not sure anyone would come, because people have lives.I’d have to entertain people--I'm funny, but not necessarily THAT funny.I’d have to talk about my book, which I'm really bad at.I’d probably have to read my book. No, just, no.I’d be the center of attention
All of those items make me sweat, and I’m not even doing any of them!So I decided instead, to throw a Facebook release day party. That’s a virtual party, where you invite people to check out your author page on a certain day or time, you tell them about your book, hold contests or giveaways and sometimes ask other authors to participate. It’s a lot less intimidating than a real party—if no one shows up you can blame it on a computer glitch, as opposed to assuming they don’t like you. JNow, I have qualms Facebook parties too. I’ve attended many of them, and I’m not always sure the hosting author gets a benefit. The goal is to let people know about your book, but often the people attending already know or are simply popping in to say hi. Having other authors is helpful to expand your reach, but if their readers and yours don’t like the same types of books, it doesn’t seem to be much of a help, in my opinion. And they need to be interactive—you have to get past the screen and get people talking.I came up with an idea that I hope will work. Because I write contemporary romance, I’ve only invited contemporary romance authors to participate with me. We have the same types of readers, so any readers they draw will ostensibly be interested in my book and vice versa. My books have a lot of food in them, so the theme of the party is food. Each author will pop in at a different “meal” during the day. Guests can stop by any time and there will be plenty of authors to visit. At each meal, we will be talking about things that correspond to something in my book. So, for example, the hero and heroine have their first date at a hot dog stand for lunch. Therefore, at lunch time, we will be talking about first dates. I’ll give an excerpt from my book, others might ask what was the best or worst first date you had and we’ll all interact that way. And of course, there will be lots of prizes. In addition, every author participating is giving away a book and I’m compiling all of them into on big grand prize giveaway at the end—all you have to do is visit each author’s Facebook page and say hi to be entered. One lucky winner will have a summer’s worth of reading! So I’m going to try this and see how it works. If you’d like to stop by, I’d love to see you there! https://www.facebook.com/Jennifer-Wilck-201342863240160/

Please Welcome Mary Morgan
Mary Morgan, a fellow Wild Rose Press author, is my guest today, talking about her latest book. She's also offering a Rafflecopter giveaway, which you'll find toward the end of this post.
The Creativity Behind the Fenian WarriorsMary Morgan
I have always been fascinated with Celtic mythology, so it only made sense that I would develop and expand the world of the Fenian Fae Warriors. Theirs was a world rich in legends, colors, and senses. I’ve based my own fictional account on the legend of the Tuatha de Danann—one of the invasions of Ireland. They were also known as the Shining Ones or the Fae.
The Tuatha de Danann were defeated in two battles by the Milesians, whom historians and scholars alike agree were probably the first Gaels in Ireland. It was agreed that the new invaders (Milesians) and the Tuatha de Danann would each rule half of Ireland. Therefore, it was that Amergin of the Milesians chose that half of Ireland, which lay above ground, leaving the Tuatha de Danann to retreat below. They were led underground by Manannán mac Lir, God of the Sea, who shielded them with an enchanted mist from mortal eyes. As time passed, they became known as the Sidhe (Shee), or Ireland’s faery folk.
My vision for the world of the Fae expanded as I was writing Conn and Ivy’s story. Ireland was always at the center, but I built this fantasy world beneath the Hill of Tara. It is a sacred place of the ancient High Kings of Ireland and linked to the Tuatha de Danann. At the top of the hill stands a stone pillar that was called the Irish Lia Fáil, known as the Stone of Destiny. The High Kings of Ireland were crowned on this place. Therefore, my world of the Fae below mirrors the beauty of Ireland, but I’ve included crystal palaces, flowing waterfalls, lush foliage, and magic.
Legends states the Tuatha de Danann descended from the stars to Ireland. I’d like to consider that there is some truth to these tales, since I’ve incorporated them into my fictional story.
Whatever you believe, I hope you enjoy the Fae realm I’ve created in “Quest of a Warrior.”
Blurb:“You met them in the Order of the Dragon Knights. Now, journey to the realm of the Fae and witness their legends!"
Fenian Warrior, Conn MacRoich has traveled the earth for thousands of years, guarding the realm between mortal and Fae. His deeds are legendary. Yet, one mistake will force him on a journey to fix a broken time-line. However, on Conn’s quest, he must face a human female who will eventually bring this ancient warrior to his knees.
When Ivy O’Callaghan inherits her uncle’s estate, she never imagines there will be more secrets to unravel, including the one she hides from the world. With the help of a mysterious stranger, she learns to trust and step out of the shadows. However, nothing prepares Ivy when she learns Conn's true identity.
As the loom of fate weaves a thread around the lovers from two different worlds, will the sacrifices they make lead them to love? Or will their secrets destroy and separate them forever?
Excerpt: “Intoxication can unleash the beast within a Fae.” ~Chronicles of the Fae Conn fought the bolt of desire spearing a path throughout his body. Her touch spoke volumes—an invitation to taste. Never had he longed to kiss a human like this wee lass. His heart beat loudly, and he found himself unable to move. She was a Goddess of the moonlight. It danced off her face and hair, and he trembled before her. Ivy’s fingers traced down his cheek and across his lips. He was helpless to contain the growl that escaped from his mouth.
The rush of passion overtook him, and Conn slammed the door on his mind. Grasping Ivy around the waist, he hoisted her up on top of the bridge. Her lips parted on a sigh, and he lowered his mouth to feast on something he dared not take. The first brush of her soft lips against his own ignited a hunger he could no longer contain. Taking her moan deep into him, Conn glorified in the sensation of her mouth—one filled with a honeyed sweetness.
The Fae warrior became just a man for the first time. Something primal burst within him. Emotions he had never felt left him dizzy, spiraling to a physical plane. He craved them all. His lips seared a course down her neck, to her throat, and then recaptured the velvet warmth of her mouth.

Now, journey to the realm of the Fae and witness their legends!"Fenian Warrior, Conn MacRoich has traveled the earth for thousands of years, guarding the realm between mortal and Fae.

Adventures at Day Camp
Well, the good news is that there are no bears at camp. At least, none that The Princess has told me about. Considering she comes home and tells me the interesting things that happen at camp each day, I assume I’d hear about a bear. So, yay!
Hearing about camp adventures daily is new to me. At sleep away camp, they’re not allowed to use their phones, so they have to write actual letters. And address them, stamp them and mail them. Which means I don’t hear a lot about what goes on. But since she comes home each day and I’m waiting for her (and she’s too exhausted to run away from me), I hear about her day.
Here are some highlights:
The letter tzadik (among other Hebrew letters) was missing. She found it. Good to know she learned something in Hebrew school.
After a year of being “too cool” to take the bus, she’s back on it. My gas bills are going down.
Her apparent superpower is making three-year-olds stop crying. Not a bad superpower to have.
Meanwhile at home, I’ve found a stash of her stuff she never unpacked from her years of sleep away camp. Yes, YEARS!
She is very loud. I’ve always known this, but this means my summer is not the quiet, relaxing time I’m used to.
Just when I thought all the swim laundry from swim team was done, there’s MORE!
She came home with a cow—no not a real one (I would have led with that!)—as the prize for being Counselor Of the Week (C-O-W, get it?). It’s cute, and now is one more thing taking up room on my kitchen counter.
