Lost & Scared

Good morning. Welcome to Sunday Blog Share. Today, we’re going to discuss the psychological thriller. A story that depends on the reader understanding how the action unwinds and sets up the events that are occurring in a logical sequence.
Lost & Scaredexplores a world often kept quiet, where little to no news coverage exists. Divorce is an ugly situation for everyone within the family, especially the children. Their lives are turned upside down and once the case gets to court, things can become very tense.
Non-custodial parents may become verbally and physically abusive when dealing with the breakup of the home. They’ll do whatever it takes to cause turmoil, even using their children to hurt the custodial parent. In extreme situations, these non-custodial parents have even disappeared with their children, leaving the other parent wondering, worrying, and never really knowing what has happened.
Blurb
When their younger twin siblings were murdered by their cold-blooded father, Shane and Keri’s own twin connection deepened. Their father shamed Shane and Keri into silence, and then went on to bring four more children into a house shuddering under the weight of his unpredictable temper.
Ten years later, what should have been a regular visitation turns into a horrific nightmare. Trapped in the Superstition Mountains with an addicted and dangerous father, Keri’s faith and determination wavers, but she knows she must save her brothers and sisters and return all of them to the home they love.
She now faces one insurmountable obstacle. He can’t afford to let her go.

The window in my bedroom that I share with my two younger brothers overlooks Main Street. I angle my head, so I can attempt to see where my twin is.
“See Keri?” Axe, my best bud, asks.
“Nope. But I do see a bunch of cars leaving.” I face him and grin. “That means she’s on her way back.”
“Great. We can leave now.”
“Looks that way.”
He and I race down the stairs. The normal noise of a large family during winter holiday break greets me, along with what can only be described as evil snickering. We come around the corner, shoving and pushing to see which one of us gets to the bottom first, with me gaining an inch on my bud.
“Yes!” I pump a fist and hop down the last three steps, the satisfaction of proving once and for all that I’m the best pass receiver on our team.

Who Am I?

Good morning. Welcome to Sunday Blog Share. Today, we’re going to discuss the psychological thriller. A story that depends on the reader understanding how the action unwinds and sets up the events that are occurring in a logical sequence.
Who Am I?is a tale about a girl wondering about her identity. She doesn’t fit in with her family in looks and beliefs but remains with them despite the certainty she’s not one of them.
This mirrors the feelings of teens everywhere, the sense they don’t belong and aren’t anything like those around them. Yet, they also know they’re part of this family unit, despite their convictions. Or are they?
Blurb
Brooke English never belongs. She changes schools twice a year, as often as her looks and name change. Her thoughts about belonging to her “family” get even more viral when they stop in Landry, Georgia. Then things start to go wrong. Then Brooke starts to have dreams.
Will she find the answers she wants? Or will her worst fears become reality?

“A new semester, a new school, and who am I looking at? Sure isn’t me – whoever that is.”
I stare into a mirror at the new house, and I don’t recognize the person staring back at me.
For as long back as I can remember, I’ve had at least two different names every year – Layla, Helena, Penelope (nicknamed Perky, definitely not me!), and many, many more, far too tedious to mention. At times, I get confused, and I’ve always wondered what my real name is. Where I’m from comes in a very close second. Third is my desire to have a real life, friends, and a future. We moved here last night. I’ve lost count of the houses. Never homes.
Like that will ever happen.

Thunder & Lightning

Good morning. Welcome to Sunday Blog Share. Today, we’re going to discuss the psychological thriller. A story that depends on the reader understanding how the action unwinds and sets up the events that are occurring in a logical sequence.
Thunder & Lightningis about twins… he’s a star football player, she prefers online role playing games. Both are caught up in a lie that doesn’t end when someone from their hometown accuses Tarit of rape, even though he avoids this person as best he can.
The twin connection is strong between these individuals. They each can sense what is bothering the other. Yet, despite their close connection, despite the proof this illegal act couldn’t have happened, they can’t get anyone to believe them.
Blurb
The gridiron rivalry between the Georgia Bulldogs and the Auburn Tigers runs deep. Auburn has a knack of ruining Georgia’s perfect season at the worst possible moment…
The same can be said about Tarit ‘Lightning’ Berenson and his twin, Taren ‘Thunder’ Berenson. Tarit’s a running back for the Dawgs; his speed is legendary. Taren prefers online gaming; her skills are awesome.
Brad Weaver seeks justice for those falsely accused. He’s attempting to make up for his brother’s false arrest and subsequent “suicide” that evidence points to being a murder. Yet, proof of someone else’s involvement is hard to come by and he’s soon running at full speed to rescue Tarit from the same fate.
It all begins at a game, a win and revenge against a tough rival for University of Georgia Bulldogs.
“Dawgs, this is for you!”
Tarit’s words set up a mighty cheer on the night of the SEC Championship football game. His rejection of a girl’s advances at a party later that night turns the last half of his senior year of college into a nightmare without end.
Taren does her best to help her twin despite a lack of support from everyone, even their own parents. Her allegiance to him never wavers, nor does she stop searching for answers no matter what she has to do. Time is running out…
Evidence mounts against him…
Until Taren makes a startling discovery…
Is it too late to save Tarit?

The ringing keeps on going. He has to respond to me. He just has to. There is no reason for him to ignore my calls… except one. My parents disowned Tarit last month, and the whole family and all of their friends know I’m working to clear my brother’s name.
“Hello.”
His voice is curt, angry. Well, I’m angry too, and he is the last chance I have to save my twin from a fate worse than death.
“It’s me… Taren,” I say. “Uncle Andy, this is that moment we talked about when you told me that you had to act like you weren’t helping me. You’re my last chance to fix this problem.”
“No, I don’t have to help you,” he says. “The only reason I answered my phone today was to tell you that you are on the edge of being disowned by the family, too, Taren.”
I ignore his ugly comment and rip through the paperwork on my kitchen counter. Unlike the dorm room I gave up to move into an off-campus apartment, I keep this place sparkling, so I don’t have to search for important information.

Blaze A Team Omega Thriller

Good morning. Welcome to Sunday Blog Share. Today, we’re going to discuss the psychological thriller. A story that depends on the reader understanding how the action unwinds and sets up the events that are occurring in a logical sequence.
Blaze A Team Omega Thrilleris about overcoming the odds, of stopping out of control wildland fires. It’s also a story about overcoming the sense nothing you do will change the present and might adversely affect the future.
Dakota Henderson has a great team. She has backing from most of the Elementals around her, except those led by Brooks, which includes the parents who abandoned her long ago. Her life is anything but charmed yet she works as hard as appearing she’s fine as she does at protecting humanity.

A scream for help…

Elementals rise up and assist in putting out the fires…
Voices cry out in fear and panic. Evacuations are threatened by out of control wildfires. Forest fires explode into existence throughout the Golden State. Flames scorch hopes and dreams. Citizens perish. Homes vanish under the fiery onslaught. All hope seems lost…
Into this maelstrom, a group of men and women work to control the wildfires and find a cause. They don’t quit, they don’t back down, they seek an end to the destruction. Despite their best efforts, they are stymied by a faction of their organization. These people are willing to do anything at all, even cause panic and disaster, in order to be acknowledged as the best in their field.
These aren’t ordinary people. They’re gifted with powers to control the elements of Earth, Wind, Water, and Fire. But they are divided, which weakens them when they need to be their strongest.
Can these heroes stop a disaster?

Courage lives within her soul. She doesn’t believe in herself much and yet she trusts her instincts. Fires have ravaged the state she calls home for far too many years. The equipment is old. Those tasked with extinguishing these wildfires are worn to a frazzle. Funds to give them what they need to make a difference, to save homes and woodlands, are stretched thin.
Carr was such a mess. The team there—Brooks’ team, Alpha—only made things worse. I swear he created the winds that caused the firenado. If only I could prove that…
Dakota Henderson watches out the window of her personal G650 jet, an aircraft very few know she owns. Those very few are also privy to the extent of her financial riches, an embarrassing situation for her if anyone else were ever to discover exactly how much is in her accounts.

Thunder & Lightning

Good morning. Welcome to Sunday Blog Share. Today, we’re going to discuss the psychological thriller. A story that depends on the reader understanding how the action unwinds and sets up the events that are occurring in a logical sequence.
Thunder & Lightningexplores a scary situation rising around us. The false rape accusation, the accusation that comes after years following an encounter where nothing happened or what happened wasn’t as is being presented. Rape is a vicious crime, one that leaves the victim with psychological scars. Being accused of this act when nothing of the kind happened gives the accused the same kind of scars.
Trust is lost. Reputations are destroyed. All because words are said that may or may not be true. Simply saying the act didn’t happen won’t work. Even the lack of forensic evidence isn’t enough to exonerate the person. The accusation, like a mud ball thrown in anger, sticks and can’t be cleaned away with an apology.

“We’re in the last quarter of the SEC final game of this season.” The announcer’s voice is barely audible over the roar of the crowd. “Tarit ‘Lightning’ Berenson prepares to receive the ball. Auburn’s Tigers are all over this talented running back, ready to stop him. But nothing has stopped Tarit all season. Will tonight be when ‘Lightning’ learns he’s not invincible?”
The voices echo in my head, reminding me the night that should have been my greatest triumph. The memory is the only thing I have left of what was once a stellar college career. Since the after-game party, when I turned down her advances and walked away alone, I’ve had to justify my every action. Juliana Mullins has been treated like a queen, given all kinds of sympathy and brought horror to my family.

Four-year-old Lyssa Winders landed with a thump on her living room floor. Her bottom hurt from the hard wood, and her head ached from all the yelling and shouting she’d been hearing. Nothing made sense. She just wanted this to stop.
Her parents, Auntie Keisha, Nana Brandy, and Grandpa Monty kneeled in front of her. They had their hands on the back of their heads, and they looked very scared.
“Gonna talk now, Jack?” the stinky man asked. He had carried her out of the safety of her bedroom and dumped her on the floor. “Or do I hurt your kid?”
Stinky jerked Lyssa to her feet. She couldn’t run. He held her tight in front of his nasty smelling body.

The Mendocino Complex Fire has burned for nearly two months. During that time, residents in and around Colusa, Mendocino, Lake, and Glenn Counties live in fear of their lives. This fire was once two blazes: River and Ranch. Nothing done so far has curbed the flames consuming everything in their path. During the daily briefing, it was mentioned that a group of individuals, specially trained to deal with major brush fires, have been called into action. Their only duty is to control this conflagration and allow the many firefighters on the ground to contain and eventually put it out. Fire Chief James Marshall refused to introduce the group. All he indicated is that they are the only ones capable of doing this job.

Trusting After A Tragedy

Good morning and welcome to Tuesday Blog Share. Today we’re talking about teen romance, moving forward after tragedy.
The incident had happened six months ago. Jenna still had trust issues, the inability to believe anyone would want to be around her.
Hank approached her slowly. He understood that she wouldn’t want to be close to him, or any other guy. Yet, he still wanted to ask her to come to his family picnic next week.
“Hi.” He stopped a couple of feet away. “Uh… I was wondering what you’re doing a week from Saturday.”
“Uh.” Jenna stared at the ground. No one had come close to her since that day. “Nothing. Maybe binge watching something on Netflix. Maybe reading a couple of books.”
He inched closer, making sure he didn’t startle her. “How about if you come to my family’s picnic at the park? It’ll be fun. We could talk a little, eat burgers, maybe tell a few jokes.”
She shuddered. Everyone knew her dad was a drug dealer, thanks to him getting arrested. All the kids at school had shunned her since that was reported on the local radio station.
“Come on, Jenna,” Hank said. “You didn’t have anything to do with the drugs. Did you?”
“No.”
“Come.” He held out a hand. “Have some fun.”
His family had always been nice to her, even after the news broke. Jenna was tired of hiding but she was scared too.
“Okay.” She took his hand. “Thanks for trusting me.”
“No problem.” He smiled. “I know you’re a good person.”

The Connection of Soul Mates

Good morning and welcome to Sunday Blog Share. Today we’re talking about soul mates reuniting after a lifetime.
So many mistakes, so many chances to fix what he’d done so long ago. Jason Marshall walked along a lonely street, his heart lonely, trying to figure out what he’d done wrong so long ago. During high school, their love had been special, precious. Once they joined the Air Force and had been assigned to the same base, he thought they would remain together forever.
“That’s what I get for thinking.” Jason stopped, stared at the cottage at the end of a secluded cul-de-sac. “Does she even remember me?”
His high and tight hair didn’t allow him much of a chance to remain warm without a cap on. For so long, he’d worn hats as part of his duties to his country. Memories floated around him, of Sharon beside him for a mere four years after they joined. Of her lighthearted laughter when they were off duty; of her intense dedication to duty.
“And I blew everything.” He shook his head in disgust. “What does she think of me now?”
His heart skipped a beat when she came out of the cottage. Delia hadn’t change much, except the gray streaks in her brown hair. She stopped beside a bed of petunias around a dogwood tree, pulling off the faded blooms and neatly piling them to once side. Joe took a step in her direction, the cracking of a small branch exploding in the air. She stared at him.
“Jason?”
Her whisper echoed around him. He nodded. Delia smiled.
“You came back.” Her smile widened.
As if two decades hadn’t gone past, he strode through the gate and took her in his arms. Maybe this time he could do it right.

A multi-genre author, K.C. Sprayberry is always on the hunt for new stories. Inspiration strikes at the weirdest times and drives her to grab notebook and pen to jot down her ideas. Those close to her swear nothing or no one is safe if she’s smiling gently in a corner and watching those in the same room interact. Her observations have often given her ideas for her next story, set not only in the South but wherever the characters demand they settle.
