Feedback on the first two chapters of Spire

I've received a lot of feedback, especially recently, about the first two chapters of Spire, and the results are absolutely polarized. People love the first two chapters or they love the third and consider the first two, "in the way."

Honestly, the way that I perceived the work, those first two chapters are essential; they are the spring board for Joshua both in the progression of the story and in his introduction to the reader. You're in his mind, experiencing life as he experiences it before his metamorphosis. Gradually, throughout the rest of the novel, the reader is allowed to see Joshua through multiple perspectives as I allow you, as readers, to see his transition and draw your own conclusions.

Anyway, I'm sorry to those of you that don't like the first two chapters, but you enjoyed the rest of the book! So, I'm afraid you're just going to have to suck it up. :)

I have not written a Joshua-perspective chapter in the second book yet, and I'm a little torn about it myself...

Hard at work on book 2

Quick Update:
The Paperback version of Spire has been available for awhile now, but I'm finally actively trying to get the word out. It's been a great process so far and my readers' responses have been amazing.
I'm looking forward to hearing more and trying to be more present on goodreads.

Book 2:
The sequel to Spire is moving right along. The first three chapters surprise me every time I re-read and edit them. It's better than I'd hoped. I'm going to push hard to have this novel out before the end of next year. Wish me luck:).

Excited to go Paperback

I started up the process of physical publication a couple of weeks ago. It's exciting to know that my book will be available not only in several e-formats, but also in paperback.
Um... other than that, I really don't know the best way to reach out to readers, so I'll just keep writing the second book and go from there:).

Website

I started a small site for the launch of Spire:
http://wakingdreambooks.com/

But I'll check goodreads frequently as well.
