Mondays are monumental.
Most of the memes you see online about Monday are of cats dragging, sad doggy faces, or something of that nature.
We fight Mondays don’t we? I think we’re almost programmed to, now, huh?
Well. I’m all about perspective. It can make or break my attitude. So when it comes to Mondays, let’s renovate our thoughts to, “I get to do this.”
I get to work to earn fun weekend adventures.
I get to do something productive with my time.
I get to do this!
I heard that last on...

Don’t be a grumpy diamond.
You’ve probably heard that pressure makes diamonds, right? And diamonds are super strong. So we should be strong, too, dealing with all life’s pressures.
I believe pressure can make us stronger. The things that happen to us, both good and bad, can build up our reality muscles. Make us strong so we can face off with anything.
Constant, unrelenting pressure in our lives is not ideal. We do need a reprieve once in a while to recharge. So it’s super import...

Stand your ground.
I hear that phrase a lot, but what does it really mean?
Stand your ground.
Like just stand where you are? And do what? Look around? Wave to people?
So it’s more of a figure of speech. More like defend what you believe in. Things you hold dear to your heart.
That’s all good, but one thing to remember is to respect other “grounds.” I might not agree with someone on issues, ways of life, or behaviors, but I shouldn’t be kicking dirt and rocks onto their ground.

Dare you to move.
I promise I’m not going to copy in all the lyrics of this awesome Switchfoot song, just this one part:
I dare you to move. I dare you to lift yourself up off the floor.
What goal out there are you wanting to do but are too scared? Is the fear and insecurity holding you down? Do you think you just can’t do it?
I dare you to do it.
I triple dog dare you!
All joking aside. Taking the next step toward your goal—or just daily living for some of us—can be super scary. I ge...

Book love isn’t reality.
We’ve been talking about lies this week, and one I mentioned previously was about the men we meet in the books we read.
While we love reading love stories, if we let them, they can damage our perception of men. Of our personal love stories.
Remember earlier this week I mentioned how guys are visually geared – we aren’t. What we see doesn’t impact with us like men. Our vice is what we read.
It can stick with us, and we can start measuring our real life men me aga...

Let your soul shine.
Another lie we struggle with is that we have to be skinny to ________.
You fill in the blank, because it seems like the need to be skinny is motivated by tons of different reasons.
To fit in. To be liked. To be popular. To be a better athlete. To feel good about myself. To find a boyfriend/husband. To be glamorous. To be loved.
See what I mean? Lots of pressure there, huh? But most of those statements listed up there are lies. Lies that we need to bust through.

Break apart the lies.
Have you ever stopped and thought about all the lies we believe?
Everyday lies are spewed to us through society, pseudo-friends, TV shows, movies, etc.
Sure, some of these are for entertainment purposes in movies, books, etc., and we know they are falsehoods, but we still believe them.
I have to be skinny to fit in.
I have to show more skin to be noticed.
I have to find a man exactly like the one I’m reading about in this book or I won’t be happy.
Sex will make him...

Driving blind is an adventure.
Sometimes I have absolutely no idea where my path is leading. Kind of like I’m driving blind. It’s a scary feeling, especially since I like to be in control.
For a while there I thought I was to be a pro speed skater. I loved it. Lived for it. Was obsessed with it.
And that might have been the problem.
Nothing else but that mattered. My faith, friends, and family took a hit. I put skating in front of everything.
But when I stopped, I stepped into the unk...

Don’t be an empty head.
Have you ever told someone you’ll do something or be somewhere, then you didn’t follow through? Has anyone ever done it to you?
Empty words and promises hurt. We’re all guilty of it. I know I’ve done it. I’m not perfect by any means, but for some reason empty words and promises drive me bonkers more than most other flaws.
Why is that?
I think it’s because I feel devalued. Betrayed almost. Like something else, more important than me came up and the person bailed....

Tap into your warrior.
Doesn’t it feel like you’re constantly in a battle? Work stuff. Family stuff. Life…..
It can feel that way sometimes. During difficult seasons just waking up feels like a major battle, let alone getting out of bed and facing the day.
But we are warriors. Put on your armor and face today with confidence.
My armor is a positive attitude and hope. Lots of frustration and nasty can bounce off of that.
But how do I get that armor? For me, I start my day out quiet. I do...
