Kindle Lending Library

I have decided to include the "31 Prayers" series in the Kindle Lending Library.

This has several important effects for readers.

First of all, if you have Amazon Prime, you may now borrow any of the "31 Prayers" books for free without late fees. Starting immediately. Completely free. Except, of course, for whatever you pay for Amazon Prime.

Secondly, "31 Prayers for Courage" is no longer available on the NOOK. It was a pain to make available on the NOOK in the first place, Barnes and Noble...

Repent and Take Courage

Sometimes we place ourselves in a dangerous environment of our own construction. When we sin, we separate ourselves from the LORD, and we begin to build a structure, a monument unto ourselves. Even as we acknowledge our sin, if we do not abandon it and repent, turning again to Christ, it is only lip-service, and righteousness is not in us. As we darken our hearts with our sin, we begin to justify it to ourselves, so that soon, we don't even pay lip-service to contrition and sorrow. Before...

Thanksgiving Weekend Sales

A lot of people choose to buy Christmas gifts the Friday after Thanksgiving. Why? Because that's when all the sales are. Black Friday (originally so called because it took until this date for many companies to get back into the black on their ledgers, i.e., to have positive net income for the year) and its online counterpart, Cyber Monday, are big days when it comes to sales.

To that end, we'll be having one, too. You'll be buying all your other gifts those days anyway, right? So here's what y...

Review in WordJourney Magazine

"31 Prayers for Courage" has been reviewed by WordJourney magazine, and Matt Keegan has some swell things to say:

Merriam-Webster defines courage as the "mental or moral strength to venture, persevere, and withstand danger, fear, or difficulty." That sounds like the typical Christian's life, right? Courage is something that we want, but often don't have. Our present circumstances may require us to have a courageous heart, but we may find ourselves lacking in that department.

And that is where...

Be of the Same Mind

As members of Christ's body, we ought to be of the same mind, maintain the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose. The Apostle Paul writes that, if only the church at Philippi would do these things, his joy would be perfected (Philippians 2:2). This unity is the unity of one body, the Church. The Church ought to be one, as a body is one. This concept implies twofold: first, Christ is the head of the body of the Church, so the Church ought to be unified in its pursuit of His will; ...

Where Is Your Egypt?

God often asks us to do things we don't understand. Often, we fear where we must go, or what we must do. We worry for our own lives or the lives of our loved ones. This fear is not irrational; our lives may truly be at stake to obey God's commands. But at the same time, we must obey. How can we doubt the LORD? He has fulfilled every promise He has ever made, and He will protect those who serve Him. How do we know this? Let us look at the example of Jacob.

He said, "I am God, the God of your...

Healing and Peace

One of the things I address in "31 Prayers for Healing" is the idea of peace. It goes hand-in-hand with healing. Because if there's one thing the secular world has taught us in films and books and stories and comics and TV shows… it's that good people, in spite of being good, suffer… a lot. People get sick, and sadder still for those of us left behind, they die. So why pray for healing from the Lord, when He may choose to take you home instead of repairing your broken body?

Because of peace...
