Everyone needs a Christmas love story . . .
A couple of weeks ago, I published a Christmas love story--the first one I've ever written. It was fun to write, and I hope it's fun to read. :-)
Do you remember that old Rolling Stones song? The one that says, "You can't always get what you want. But if you try sometime, you just might find, you get what you need . . ."
Well, that's what my Christmas romance is all about; a hurting man, who's lost his millions and wants--desperately--to get them back.
Turns out he gets what he needs--the gift that money can't buy.
(And a puppy, because everybody should get a puppy for Christmas.)
The book is called, A FOLLY LAKE CHRISTMAS. If you're interested you can find it on Amazon here: http://www.amazon.com/Folly-Lake-Chri...

I've done it again...
I've released a new book, MAN ENOUGH. I feel so much lighter now. LOL
This is a book I hadn't planned on writing; it grew out of the last book I wrote, MAN FOR GRACE, when a few readers said they'd like to read more about Porter and Toni, two characters in that book.
I decided I agreed with them. Readers rule, after all.
Porter and Toni are mismatched in age and lifestyles--perfect fodder for a love story. So write it, I did. And now it's on Amazon to be bought or borrowed.
If you want to take a look at MAN ENOUGH, you can find it here:

New book release.
MAN FOR GRACE is now as pretty and well-parsed as I can make it. :-) And it's now (finally) available on Amazon: http://amzn.to/1d8Zc0p I really do hope you'll take a look, but if you don't want to click over there...
The book description reads thusly:
Love. Loneliness. And linguini...
Grace Whitby is feeling a little blue, a little lonely, has ever since her two best friends married and left Salt Spring Island. She readily admits she wants what they have, the right guy to share her life with. But when Colin Ross, her high school crush and now a celebrated chef, reluctantly returns to Salt Spring and an old passion reignites, she's wary.
Grace isn't keen to get involved with a man who hates her island home, has a clingy ex-girlfriend, suffers from stress headaches, and doesn't believe in the word "sorry." So what if Colin seems totally at home on her couch, her cat loves him, and he looks sexy as hell in her kitchen, the man's got issues. He's definitely not the man for Grace.
Until he shows her exactly what a talented man can do in the kitchen.

Special thanks to The Blue Pencil for some very fine editing services and to Cheryl, proof reader extraordinaire. Because they did their work so very well, if there are errors left in the book, I have to take full blame. :-\

Finally
Yes, finally, Man For Grace, the 3rd book in the Salt Spring Island Friends trilogy, is off my desk and on the desk of a first-rate copy editor. Joyous, I am. I also have the marvelous Angie O coming up with a brilliant idea for the cover.
Y'all thought I was fooling around, right? (Assuming you thought of me at all. LOL) Perhaps you thought I was merely pretending to be a writer while sipping Sarsaparilla on a sunlit porch. Truth is I've never sipped Sarsaparilla in my so-called life and actually had to Google the spelling of same. (Who knew it had that R in there?)
So...unless my first-rate copy editor deems my tome a pile of bilious balderdash, and cites me for excessive alliteration, Man For Grace will soon be sitting on a cyber shelf near a zillion click buttons.
Tis all a writer can wish for.

Writing. Sort of...
Writing is what I've been doing, trying to finish the 3rd book in my Salt Spring Island Friends trilogy. It's taking me forever, and I blame it on a hot summer, soft breezes, visitors, ice cream, wasps, laundry, and stains on my office carpet.
[Please visualize back of hand placed on brow and writer-woman whining, "Life is all so-o distracting and unpredictable!!"]
(Also note the use of two exclamation points; I am currently overstocked in the little suckers and need to empty out my punctuation locker.)
Anyway, just checking in to let anyone, anywhere in the vast universe of readers--those goddess-like creatures, with flowing hair and diamond tiaras floating above their heads like shining halos--I'm almost done finding A MAN FOR GRACE. Yeah, that's the title. Original and deeply impressive, don't you think?
Now for some ice cream... The carpet stains can wait.

Killing Bliss
Now on Amazon. Killing Bliss is a book of mine that was previously print published.
The power in self-publishing is that it gives a good story a new lease on its reading life.(Which is seriously happy-making. :-))
Killing Bliss has a nasty--and surprising--villain, a cold case, and a love story between two people, broken by loss, who are made whole again by falling in love.

New story on Amazon :-) In Good Hands
Last week I put a new romance up on Amazon. And, yes, I'm one of those who feels a bit as if they'd they'd scaled a mountain when they do this self-publish thing. Actually going to a mountain top is probably a good idea. Once there I could focus on Social Media--how to do it right in an effective period of time. For now I muddle along...
But I digress, the book is called IN GOOD HANDS, and it's a novella I wrote a while ago now that received some decent reviews from RT and All About Romance. (I've included snips from the reviews on the book page--I'm smart enough to do that! LOL)
Here's the blurb:
Love comes as a stranger, and too often it's lust, seductive, enthralling and treacherous, that makes the introduction.
And so it is for Esme Shane, a strong, self-assured woman, once a sex therapist now a book illustrator, and Dane McCoy, a magnetic, secretive man, once a billionaire businessman now...
Esme and Dane, both of them smart, sophisticated and cautious, have good reason to distrust one another. They should never have met.
Fate, as is its way, decided otherwise, creating an irresistible scenario.
A sun-drenched island in the Gulf of Mexico. A secluded estate. A reluctant promise. Ten short days.
An instant and incendiary attraction.
An attraction easy to satisfy--impossible to contain.
_________________________
This is a short romance.
Note: While this story is not burn your hair-tips erotica, it does contain fully-described love scenes. Enter the bedroom--or walk the beach--forewarned.
The story can be found here: http://amzn.to/Yquqvm

Gotta try...
...a sale on Amazon.
I've put LOVE LETTERS, INC. on sale for .99 cents from April 25th to the 28th.
It's a fun romance starring Rosie O'Hanlon and Kent Summerton that--if I've done my job right--will make you smile.
If you choose to download it, I hope you enjoy it. :-)

Writing Blurbs. ...sigh...
It's a challenge (a PITA?) writing a blurb for a book--trying to sum up months of work into a couple of comprehensible paragraphs. Paragraphs that should tell the reader what to expect. Paragraphs that should turn them on to a book and not turn them off.
Most writers get pretty sweaty when blurb time comes around, but some really do get it right. I try to learn from them.
I blogged about it over at the group blog I'm part of, The Pen Warriors. http://bit.ly/WF7k06

Dreams Don't Wait
Dreams Don't Wait is the title of a new book that I just e-published on Amazon yesterday.
I really wanted to make this book available by Christmas, and I'm feeling so darn good that I actually made it happen. The month of December very quickly becomes about doing everything else in the universe other than writing, so getting something completed feels like a major win. :-)

I hope every avid book lover on Goodreads has an amazing Christmas and finds at least one book gift card in their stocking.
Happy Holidays to you all and best wishes for a fantastic 2013.
