McSweeney’s Internet Tendency: Raymond Carver’s OKCupid Profile, Edited by Gordon Lish.
My self-summary
I am a writer and poet, one, bear with me here, of the “major” writers of the late 20th century, though just typing that felt desperate. I received a B.A. in English at Humboldt State University, then went on to attend the esteemed Iowa Writers’ Workshop, thus launching my career. I also like to drink.

Today the official nominations for the 2013 Rainbow Project LGBTQ YA/Children’s Books List were announced. (The final list—culled from these nominations—will be debated, decided upon, and announced during the American Library Association Midwinter Meeting, this year held in Seattle, January 25-29.) I’m very honored that tMoCP has thus far made the cut. Check out all the excellent books by clicking the header above.

With the Presidential election now over, you might well be going through voter withdrawal. Don’t fret: even as I type this there are ballots to be cast over at the 2012 Goodreads Books Awards.
I just found out that The Miseducation of Cameron Post is officially a semifinalist in the YA Fiction Award Category. If you feel so inclined, it would be kick-ass if you helped to vote it into the finals, which you can do through this Sunday, November 18th.
If you’re interested just click the semifinalist “badge” above.
(And in the words of every politician ever: I’m emily danforth, and I have approved this message. Well, save the emily danforth part of those words. Every politician is not, in fact, emily danforth.)

A CAM POST interview for the Montana Public Radio program “The Write Question.” Lots of discussion of rural life for LGBTQ teens, as well as a (lengthy) reading from the novel.
Katie Jean’s Shinkle’s fantastic As Close to Smiling...

Katie Jean’s Shinkle’s fantastic As Close to Smiling As You Can Get is now for sale over at The Cupboard. For the price of a fancy coffee drink you can get, delivered to you in the mail, a tape-bound, pocket-size collection of 17 short prose pieces about Dina and Darlene Tunnel, formerly conjoined twins now separated, but not separate. Never fully separate. Shinkle traces the history of these sisters and their bodies—death, arson, sexual discovery, the neighbor lady’s Last Supper tapestry. At once voyeuristic and exhibitionistic, saga and record, As Close to Smiling As You Can Get limns the border of self-concern between two unruly selves.
