Tumblr Artist
Rex Hicks | on Tumblr (USA)
Originally...

Originally from Iowa, Rex Hicks moved to Quincy where he has just started delving into the art scene. After some design work experience, he decided to take a stab at painting. With very little knowledge of how to paint in any traditional styling, Rex thought the best thing to try on was a printed out photograph. The result is unexpected: through creative lighting, unexpected color combinations and an obvious comfort with experimentation, Rex combines physical and digital mediums to exude expression of his sometimes brooding, always thoughtful themes. (cf. interview with artist by thelocalq) Please visit artist’s Flickrs or follow his Tumblr for more work and inspiration.

The shoes remain only to make sure there is something more than…a shadow.”

I am going to be a bit of a fangirl here, but your book is honestly one of my favorite "comfort" books. I'm a 19-year-old gay girl so I found it very easy to relate to and just incredibly captivating. Every time I read it I always finish it wanting so much
Hey Liz,
Thanks very much—that’s completely fantastic to hear. I’m wholly delighted that CAM’s a “go to” comfort book for you. (And thanks for writing me to say so.)
All best!
