Where's my coffee?
There are some days where everything just seems to flow perfectly.
Take yesterday, for example. I woke up early and cranked out a twenty page outline for a new book.
Then I sat down and finished five chapters for the audio release of Prison of Dreams. I plan to release both the print and audio versions the first of November, so there's a bit of a rush on it, but I can't push my voice too hard or the sound will be poor. This was a 450 page story I wrote in my early teens and had only a single copy of. As I've read back through it, and done the necessary editing for publication, I find myself still enraptured by the tale. It's amazing to go back and read something you wrote half a lifetime ago, and still love it!
Then I finished transcribing the remainder of Simple Musings. Another 400+ page monster that I wrote in my youth, and which survived the flood. I had only a single copy of each book printed off onto old dot matrix paper and clipped into binders for safe keeping, but it didn't keep them safe from the water. Simple Musings was so badly damaged the pages were stuck together and blue from run ink. It's been a challenge trying to read the original manuscript, but I'm glad it could be saved. I still love this story too, even years later!
All in all, yesterday was a pretty successful day.
Today, however, I slept in. And all I can think of is, 'where's my coffee?!'

Watchmen
I haven't seen Watchmen in forever, so I sat down last night and watched the extended edition.
Can I just tell you, Doctor Manhattan has got to be the perfect mate. He has the sort of body that makes you glad he prefers to walk around naked. He can split himself into multiple forms to simultaneously work, manage the honey-do list, and snuggle with you in bed.

Sprains and other things
I am seriously sick and tired of this ankle pain! Two weeks after the stairs in this old house tried to do me in, and I can still barely put any weight on it. The ankle joint is still swollen, with pain that radiates all the way around my heel and then spikes up into my calf.
They took x-rays, but I'm beginning to wonder if they made a mistake. The way the pain is focused in the heel, I'm beginning to suspect an injury there, as well as pulled/torn ligaments.
It's very frustrating to be stuck on my butt with winter coming on so quick! There's too much to do around here before cold weather settles in!

Yummy and then ....
So I was watching The Resident last night...
For those of you that haven't followed me on Facebook, this old "monster house" tried a swipe at me by dropping a stair out from under my foot. Literally. Old wooden stair actually dropped. So I took a tumble down the rest of the way and got a bit banged up.
I have to wear a boot cast and use crutches for at least another week (doctor's orders), then they're going to take another look at it and decide if an MRI/surgery might be required.
In the meantime, I've been writing a lot (finished another 72,000wrd manuscript today) and watching tv. Sometimes doing both at the same time, like right now (watching the original Aliens, I love the oldies!).
But last night I was watching The Resident, and absolutely drooling over Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
I'm thinking to myself, "WOW! I would love to have a guy want me that much!" Yeah, it was a little gross with the toothbrush thing, but when he was ripping his pants down in the bathtub I about lost it.
Then he went and smacked her.
I was proud of her choice in a nailgun for correcting that little error.
Back to blogging
I've been a terrible blogger, haven't I? It's just so much more fun to log into Facebook and chat while I mention all the things going on, so I don't feel the need to repeat myself here!
BUT... I've discovered that lately there's been more to say than I can really put on Facebook. At least if I expect anyone to have a shot at reading it before it gets pushed down the page by comments or new posts. So I'm going to take up some space on this site as a catch all for the rest of those thoughts.
If you want to keep up with the Facebook end of it, you'll just have to search me out there. Otherwise, enjoy what the dark side of my mind, lol.

A Summer Rain
I've been grinning like a fool for the last two days at the capricious play of weather. Rain, sun, rain, sun... "Mother Earth" is well named a female for her whimsical tempers. =)
This is such perfect weather for the release of a sweet historical romance with a Native American hero and his pale skinned beloved! I want to dance with the trees over such a beautiful storm, but I think I will write instead and give my characters some of the joy that I feel today!
