Fitness Friday: One Step at a Time
I tend to be an all-or-nothing personality. I’m either awesome or an utter failure. That trait is great when I’m awesome; not so great when I turn into a turtle and hid in my shell. The last few years I’ve been pretty good at exercising, but when I have a book due or things get crazy, sometimes I’ll miss my exercise session. One hour during extremely busy times seems like forever.
I have an amazing trainer, Ingrid Wentzel. Ingrid has taught me that sometimes coming into the gym and just gettin...

Techno Thursday: Internet Slang Cheat Sheet
Okay, so I admit it, sometimes internet slang gets confusing. You might find this list helpful… I know I did.

Wednesday Wisdom: Beauty is a Feeling
Helen Keller is one of my all-time favorite inspirational women. From watching ‘The Miracle Worker’ on television to reading her biography her spirit humbled me. I love this quote by her. Hope you enjoy Wednesday’s Wisdom.

Tuesday Tunes: Hallelujah!
As a teenager, I was in the A Capella Choir at my high school for three years. Each year during Christmas we would have a concert culminating in the Hallelujah Chorus by Handel. There’s nothing I love more. Here is the Mormon Tabernacle Choir singing it…and for a smile, The Silent Monks, just because I think it’s so clever :-). Enjoy!

Monday Memories: Secret Ingredients
Old family recipes are the best. I remember my Grandpa’s Rigatoni sauce, my Nonnie’s chocolate cake recipe and a few others. But since it’s the holidays, I have to mention our family Christmas Cookie recipe. I remembermy mom pulling out an old cookbook, it’s pages slightly stained with vanilla, and turning to a page with a woman’s picture on it. The cookie recipe has Almond Extract in the cookie dough and in the frosting. It used Crisco, too.
So yummy! I’m not sure what it is about the old rec...

Wacky Weekend: Christmas Can Be Funny
My favorite memories of Christmas are candlelight services, singing Silent Night outside, all of us holding candles, and a star-filled sky above us. There was something magic and holy about those nights during my childhood. And that is still where the heart of Christmas lies for me. But…there is also fun and joy during the season. When I first saw Straight No Chaser’s 12 Days of Christmas, it simply made me smile! I hope it makes you smile this weekend! There’s so much hustle and bustle, but...

Fitness Friday: It’s All About the Shoes!
I was working out on Tuesday and my feet started killing me right in the middle of my workout. The reason: my shoes.
I supinate a bit, so I really need shoes that support. Last week I knew that I was finding it more difficult to keep my heel down during my wide squats. I thought to myself, it’s about time for new shoes.
But instead of buying shoes last weekend, I baked Christmas goodies. Great for the family smiles, not so great for my feet. Because on Tuesday evening, my shoes bit the dust. It...

Techno Thursday: I’m Not Smarter Than a Fifth Grader
I received a phone call from my brother today. My fifth-grade niece brought home a math problem. I took one look and my jaw dropped. Granted I haven’t been in fifth grade for a VERY long time, but this just had me stumped. I was able to *eventually* figure it out and I analyze data for a living. I Googled it looking for the answer and found the problem on an education website. It’s supposedly for 2nd and 3rd graders. So, it may be I really am not smarter than a fifth grader–or even a second o...
Wednesday Wisdom: Think of Others
How we treat others shows more about character than anything else we do. Sometimes I think we really need to get out of our own heads. Take a moment today and put yourself in someone else’s shoes. The view might appear quite … surprising!
