The Summary for Protector of the Union is as follows:

"Raimond Augustus Solomon von Machthaber, the younger son of the first Protector of the Felgenland Union, was an unlikely candidate to become the next Protector of the Union. However, through an unexpected turn of events, Raimond has become Protector and has a mandate to wage a war against the overwhelming might of the tyrannical Terran Directorate.
After Raimond’s surprise election, Heinrich “Henry” von Machthaber, Raimond’s eldest son, finds himself caught in the Union and the Directorate's intricate web of espionage and dirty tricks. Now, Henry must choose between what he knows—being an Assault officer—and his destiny—to learn how to potentially be the next Protector of the Union.
As a contrast, Jurgen Wulfjaeger has escaped his poor origins by joining the Assault. As a corporal in the Ninth Stahlburgh Rifles—“Violence Regiment”—Jurgen seeks victory against an enemy that defies human morality and will stop at nothing to win. The summary reads:

Ousted by the Solar System Exchange in favor of an Artificial Intelligence, Greg Body has turned to space exploration. Hiring a team of highly talented personnel, he’s going to take on the Lloyd’s of London odds and colonize the star L98-59. Long-distance telescopes have rated the system as having a “medium probability” of containing an Earth-like world. Greg has decided to take his chances as a post-Singularity Earth has become overcrowded.
Greg’s team is ready, from Tsan Li Mei—the young stupor galaxias to the “grumpy old man” Griff Tomkins (PhD, MD). L 98-59 f teems with mystery and surprises as the expedition must struggle to survive the hostile alien landscape and a suspected saboteur. With the ever-watchful eye of MOMI, the crew struggles to conquer a hostile star system.
Fortunately, they are aided by the benevolent AI DADDIE, whose sports coach attitude and pragmatism keep the expedition moving forward. Working in concert with DADDIE are other AIs who help the transhumans try to shine a bright light on the darkness of corporate space exploration. Will the crew survive, and if they do, will they find their innocence lost?
