Blurbs and Bios

Blurbs and bios.
Hello and Welcome. Hi there, I hope you are well. I try not to write at night as I seem to be a different animal than the morning. The vocabulary is different, and I have this wicked sense of humour, well wicked to me. I write things I just wouldn’t write first thing in the morning.

Well I have a conundrum – now that’s a word I don’t use often. I read my emails and came across an article by the renowned Richard Ridley on writing blurbs and bios. I was so impressed and have copied it into a folder to read often. It is full of tips and advice that are like fresh daisies in a jaded lawn. Only thing is I really got caught up – inspired with his tips on bios and things. Biting my lip I decided to take the plunge. I have ripped out my biography on Author Central. It was kind of boring really, a life history which must have bored people stiff. I mean who wants to know that about my grandmother ‘s teeth or that I soaked babies nappies in a bucket. I didn’t realize you could throw them away. It was a mess I can tell you.

Anyway to continue, I thought what could I write that would inspire people. Richard wrote his bio in three lines – I think. I will check later. I was inspired. So, I thought about it for two minutes and wrote.

‘Katy lives on the South Coast. You will find her dragged along the beach by a frenzied dog, all of seven stone, whose main aim in life is to lick everyone.’

Actually first of all I wrote, ‘Katy lives on the South Coast with a husband mesmerized by grave stones, and a frenzied dog whose main aim in life is to drag her along the beach licking everyone.’

I thought that maybe I was being unkind talking about Hubby like that. But actually it is true. For instance. when we went to Greece, I was on the beach deciding whether or not I would actually join the others and go topless. Meanwhile hubby was in the nearest cemetery looking at Greek grave stones. So it would have been okay. But who would believe me? That was a glorious holiday. I remember hubby came back from the graveyard and bought some of the Greek wine from one of the beach cafes. He was legless by the time he reached me. It is definitely stronger out there. Just one small bottle, it’s not as if we drink. Well not then.

I am overjoyed I have almost finished the proof reading and copy editing for the third book of Rhonan. Thank you Universe. I have read it through three times and put it through word spellers etc. plus a huge font so I didn’t miss anything and so has hubby.

By the way he’s gone off making the curries at the moment. We’re back to fried egg, bacon, baked beans and chips.

So if anyone has any ideas about the new biography I’d be grateful. I only put the degrees and things in before as I thought people will think maybe I could write.

Now, you know, since taking them off the bio I feel naked – free – light and ready to take my frenetic dog down the beach. Actually it is true about her licking everything. I did take her to training classes but she”s been expelled twice. Not for being naughty, but because she loves people to death, one of her things is licking men and women’s bottoms. Honestly, it’s embarrassing for hubby. I can get away with it as the men usually turn around and give me a beaming smile.

Now it is late and I have to go and do some night reading to keep the flow up. I wish you all a wonderful good night and sweet dreams.

Return to Rhonan Paranormal/supernatural/occult

Hi there, It has been a gruelling few months writing, but I have emerged with two new books, paranormal/supernatural/romance.
Return to Rhonan Part 1 Lords of Rhonan and Banished from Rhonan Part 2 Lords of Rhonan. The last one in the series is due out in a few months time. They are on Kindle and I am in the process of publishing through Createspace. Meanwhile I am deep into a crime genre and so enjoying it.

It's good to have some time now to interact and catch up with the new books on here.
Regards to all.
Katy. :))

New Title - Exciting New Cover.

Hi there, Ronnell D Porter is designing a new cover for me. The title of Phobic Dawn is being changed back to Stone Relics as so many wrote in saying that they did like that title. So thank you all for your advice.
I shall then be in a position to seriously promote it.
Best wishes to you all.

Katy.

Moby Dick might swallow it.

Two days ago it was euphoria, dancing,, punching the air for joy as you know Phobic Dawn reached the best seller list for Sc Fi High Tech. But then the Gods hid behind clouds and Phobic Dawn was was drowning in a sea of sobs.Moby Dick was hovering ready to swallow the book whole. Sob, sob, raining tears, it was falling, tumbling, sliding down the ranks reaching 35,000 and oh dear no reviews and not a star in sight.
Then I thought, before it was published, I would have given my eye teeth to be 35,000 on the list.I am proud to be there at all.
At least I had one day of euphoria and I will treasure that. It's like the song. 'Wec\an be heroes jsut for one day."
With that thought in mind I had a good night's sleep dreaming of swimming in the crystal blue waters the Maldives. I've never been there, hubby's a geneaologist so every year we go to Suffolk to visit the graves. As he rubs the moss of the stones I wrote down the dates. Hmm.
But back to Amazon, I'd resolved only to go in every other day to check on the ranks. I would spend the time chatting on the forums.
True to my promise, this morning I didn't go in and check. I was itching to but managed to go and have biscuit instead, a chocolate digestive with some Nescafe Gold Blend coffee.
Then I received an email from Melanie of DG, It had reached 57 on the best sellers again for High Tech Sci Fi. I was beaming. Luckily the photographer was arriving to do a photograph for the local newspaperpromoting Phobic Dawn. I'm just so glad I had the teeth veneers done. And my hair has grown now I won't have to wear a wig. Short hair doesn't suit me. She didn't like the glasses so I took them off. Wow what a roller coaster.
It's like the perfect storm of high rolling waves clinging onto a tiny boat. I dare not go in again, Moby Dick might have had the book it for breakfast, taking it down to the dark depths of the sea.
I must stop clenching my teeth otherwise it's the dentist - I am terrifed of dentists. But my dentist Matthew is very good. He gives me 10 mg. of diazepam as he buckles up the straps. It took five visits and 50 mg diazepam to get those veneers done. Worth it though. They say they last ten years.

But back to Amazon again, I saw Phobic Dawn had crept into the American charts - wow, rank 90,000 . astounded. It doesn't matter what the rank is, it's great to know it is there. So I shall just get down to finishing the second book and hoping others will visit Kindle and have a :))

The Agony and the Ecstacy

Phobic Dawn was launched yesterday on Kindle and to my delight reached the best sellers list and ranked 64. I was ecstatic even my dog Lily was running around leaping , wagging her tail with a slightly puzzled look as to why she was doing it as there wasn't a bone in sight. It didn't stay there of course , the ranking I mean, neither did it get any reviews but it was a wonderful day.

Now I shall have to set to and start promoting it. I'm new to the game so I shall look ón here to see what I can do. There seem to be lots of events. Easily said but how the hell does one do it? Oh and games - but where do I find them? And oh yes, start a outside blog. Someone mentioned Wordpress. I shall have to see what that is. Something I've been yearning to do but have only just built the website.

Besides that I'm three quarters of the way through a book set in Ireland, supernatural, romance and so on together with heartbreak and anguish. I'm crying so much through it I'm worried it might upset the reader too much - hmm. Have to find a balance somewhere, joy and sorrow sit at the same table - Kahil Gilbrain at least I think that's how his name is spelt. It's years since I read it. I just don't want to go through hundreds of books to find it.

Busy life - there are not enough hours in the day. Maybe I'll do a Hancock and just go to the pictures. Wittingstein loved the flicks. I comfort myself with that.

It's so good to look around here and see all the incredible works, feel the energy, enthusiasm and joie de vivre.
So I shall drink it all up gratefully and see to that blog - what on earth can I say? Maybe talk about interesting things like meditation - erotica - football - why on earth did I say that -now I'm getting desperate. Maybe recipes - but the only thing I'm good at is salads.

Perhap's events would be better to start with.:))

Time to Write

I have just written a whole screed here tonight before I realized it was not in the comment box. Darn it. I'm a touch typist so I was merrily typing and chatting away but not looking at the screen. I am now.

I really do think I should write first thing in the morning when my mind is fresh and focussed or hopefully it is, if I've had a good night - not lain in bed there thinking up more plot then dropping off only to wake up with a character shouting ideas at me.

I start fresh, 9.00 a.m. the chapter is open in My documents, but then I pause, maybe I should just do a whistle stop tour of the writing and reading sites, just sign in and see what's happening. Won't take five minutes. It will get my brain going. I find loads of comments and reviews on them. Really interesting. When I look at the clock, half an hour has gone by.
So I poise my fingers on the keys determined now to start writing, and then pause thinking, well maybe I should just shoot over to Twitter. Lots of messages there, not to me again, but I should join in, should be seen to be interacting and sharing. When I get back forty-five minutes have gone.
Again I take a deep calm breath, my mind is still fresh, fingers poised above the keyboard. I suddenly remember I didn't check into Facebook. Well it won't take two mintues to check. I open it up to see another load of messages. Again not for me. Everyone seems to use my page to chat and give messages to each other so I join in. When I get back to my chapter, I look at the clock, it is now an hour and a half from when I started. Time for coffee. :))

First attempt..

Hi there, My first attempt at a blog. It's a great site and I am excited to have attained author status here.

Do feel free to put your news down on here or mail it to me and I shall put it on.
It's been hectic with proofing etc. so I took a day off. I went along to the gym, did some retail therapy, then had tea with a friend in a garden surrounded with flowers. Took Lily my golden retriever for a walk in the fields of wheat - green not gold. Then down onto the beach where we paddled in the water.
Later read David's review and was delighted. It was all worth it.

Grateful thanks to Vanessa and David King for their great reviews.

Now thinking of going to bed with my beloved Kindle and some absorbing stories by the friends on here. Just finished Thea Atkinson's 'Formed of Clay' and 'Anomaly'. Really enjoyable. Waiting for Mimi Barbour's new book in the series on the Vicarage Bench.

I think I might get used to writing a blog.

So goodnight everyone.

Best wishes,
Katy.xx.

Phobic Dawn - Katy Walters. due out 4th July.
