TRANSPORT - HUNT FOR THE FALLEN Virtual Tour Blog Post by Peter Welmerink

Writing Second Book almost Kills Author
To throw this out bluntly, TRANSPORT (Book Two) HUNT FOR THE FALLEN was a bitch to write.
I had written TRANSPORT, the first book in the three part series, in roughly a year and a half. The story and characters seemed to flow from my brain, down to my fingers, into the keyboard to the computer screen.
The blank space filled up fast with action, zombies, pissed off civilians, bullets everywhere, Bob the 1950’s gas station attendant zombie, a giant mutated animal, wicked LIVING folk, NASTY Feral undead, and our star, Captain Jacob Billet, trying to keep himself, crew and vehicle in one piece to see the end of the day.
TRANSPORT, book one, flowed like a rain-swollen river.
TRANSPORT, book two, HUNT FOR THE FALLEN, ran like a stream of thick sludge ready to dry up totally under a hot sun.
I started writing the second book in May 2013. I knew where the tale started. I knew what bits and pieces I wanted to have in the storyline for the second book. I knew how I wanted it to end for the most part.
I didn’t know how to get from point A to point Z, and all the waypoints between.
It took me about 7 months to complete the 45,000+ word second novella. (I write slow due to day job, family, taking time out to breathe.) However, upon reading through it on that first path of self-editing, I truly hated not so much of what I wrote story and plot-wise, but how it all sounded.
It sounded flat and boring to me.
I got my end of edits done, and belligerently passed it along to my editor.
Then, my better senses screaming at me, asked him to toss his copy out as I was going to go through it again from a new angle.
I have to say, while finishing up HUNT FOR THE FALLEN, I had been reading and completed Chuck Wendig’s Urban Fantasy novel THE BLUE BLAZES, and had bought a copy of his THE KICKASS WRITER.
Reading THE BLUE BLAZES, and reading how it caught my attention throughout and seemed to simply POP…
This is what I wanted to do with TRANSPORT: HUNT FOR THE FALLEN. Make it pop and roar and flow like white water rapids, to carry the reader along RIGHT NOW.
I re-did the manuscript, taking me a few months to re-conbobble. (My new literary technical term for re-do. LOL) I sent the fresh copy to my editor, who read it, and came back saying WHAT THE HELL? DID YOU WRITE THIS? THIS ROCKS!
I changed up my “voice” and made the tale POP. I did that style in HUNT FOR THE FALLEN and its sequel and final book in the series, UNCIVIL WAR.
Here’s to you, dear reader. Enjoy the ride.

Book Synopsis for Hunt for the Fallen:
Captain Jacob Billet Journal Entry - Sunday April 5, 2026
It’s raining, it’s pouring, the undead are roaring…
Amassed at the UCRA east end enclosure, the dead strain the fence line while soldiers keep watchful eyes, the survivors on the opposite side of the rising river about to lose their minds.
It’s a crazy time: nonstop precipitation; everyone's up in arms; paranoid city council members with an asshat City Treasurer. Water, water everywhere. Zees dropping into the churning drink. Troops afraid of being stitched up and thrown back into the fray as Zombie Troopers. Tank commanders getting itchy to head out on their own after drug-laden shamblers. Reganshire insurgents trying to extract our west side civvies for some unknown reason, possibly pushing the city into taking heavy-handed action against them.
Then there’s some black-haired dead dude staring at me through the fence, grinning like he’s off his meds.
And I thought Lettner was a headache.
All this sh*t might give me a heart attack.

Book Release Info for A COIN FOR CHARON by Dallas Mullican

Gabriel isn’t murdering anyone―he’s saving them.
The media has dubbed him the Seraphim Killer. He believes the gods have charged him to release the chosen, those for whom life has become an unbearable torment. Gabriel feels their suffering—his hands burn, his skull thunders, his stomach clenches. Once they are free, he places coins on their eyes to pay Charon for passage into paradise.
Detective Marlowe Gentry has spent the past two years on the edge. The last serial killer he hunted murdered his wife before his eyes and left his young daughter a mute shell. Whenever she looks at him, her dead eyes push him farther into a downward spiral of pain and regret. He sees the Seraphim as an opportunity for revenge, a chance to forgive himself―or die trying.
Gabriel performs the gods’ work with increasing confidence, freeing the chosen from their misery. One day, the gods withdraw the blessing―a victim he was certain yearned for release still holds the spark of life. Stunned, he retreats into the night, questioning why the gods have abandoned a loyal servant. Without his calling, Gabriel is insignificant to the world around him.
He will do anything to keep that from happening.
Sound interesting... ? We think this one will be a smash hit, so please don't miss it when it drops on Sept. 20th... and Congratulations to Dallas Mullican on his debut. Available at www.amazon.com

Book Review of BORN OF SWORDS by Steven L. Shrewsbury

La Gaul and Jessica travel together, pitting themselves against some of the nastiest men and most terrifying monsters imaginable, leading the reader on an adventure not soon to be forgotten. Shrewsbury’s characters are always crisp and refreshing and his descriptions of lands and kingdoms are glistening and spectacular.
If you have read other ‘La Gaul’ novels by Shrewsbury, you’ll definitely want to ride down this trail again. If you’ve never read a ‘La Gaul’ story, I can guarantee you will be scurrying to find more of his tales once you have devoured this one.
Monsters, madmen, danger, sword-play, and just the right amount of humor, make BORN OF SWORDS, the sword and sorcery, fantasy adventure you always wanted to read. Shrewsbury has done it again and BORN OF SWORDS is a hit NOT to be missed.
Five spiders for an entertainingly fun read.

Book Review of OF LOVE AND DISTANCE by Divya Jyoti Randev

Of Love and Distance is set in India and the U.K. It's a story about love, cultural barriers, overcoming adversity and strength of spirit.
Lisa is a journalist tasked with interviewing a movie star (who also happens to be her teenage crush). Whilst on their way to the studio
they are kidnapped and held for ransom (Lisa being caught up in it because she happened to be there). The relationship between Lisa and
Robert develops from this point. The experience for both of them is terrifying and, of course, traumatizing.
The second part of the book explores the psychological implications and struggle of the main character, Lisa. The reader gets an insight into Indian culture as Lisa's perspective is of course, deeply rooted in her own culture. The author describes the after-effects of trauma all the while keeping hope alive throughout the book.
I would like to warn readers that there are themes explored in thisbook that are not for the faint hearted.
4 Spiders for this great read!

Book Review of JUST FOR CHRISTMAS NIGHT by Lisa Marie Perry

Ok. Lisa Marie Perry is now officially on my list of favorite authors!
JUST FOR CHRISTMAS NIGHT is a fabulous and SEXY,SEXY,SEXY read!
Martha is the wild child of the Blue dynasty. She's like an enigma wrapped in a riddle. But not all is as it seems. Joaquin, the hero, is a tortured soul. He, like our heroine, has something to prove, if only to himself. Their relationship was broken in the past. They must make some difficult choices in the present but make them they will and always on their own terms.
This story has many different layers. The characters are very well written. They are real, they are raw, as are their emotions. I loved them both. I was rooting for them all the way. It was a real trip reading on to see how it would all come to a head.
Lisa Marie has a fabulous writing style. It is modern, flows easily and is a pleasure to read.
A truly wonderful, very enjoyable read. Highly recommended!5 spiders…
