COVER REVEAL – Boys South of the Mason Dixon

It was an idea I had in 2013. Brothers, in the south, with a widow mother (who is inspired by my own “Mama Potts”- my father’s mother), and all that comes with them. Love, fights, girls, and heartache. I wrote two novellas originally under a pen name. They were going to be a series of free stories. But the novels I had signed with publishers to write, my travel, and life in general got in the way.

Daily I have been asked for four years when the next one is coming out. This past fall I decided that although I had no time to write free mini novellas to post to my blog I could make this a new series. Write full length novels and publish them.

BOYS SOUTH OF THE MASON DIXON will be book one in the series SOUTH OF THE MASON DIXON. It is centered around the oldest brother, Asher Sutton. Those that read his novella know what happened to him and that he didn’t get closure. His book will go back to the beginning. Take you through the past and then bring you to present day and give you the rest of his story.

It will be approximately 75,000 words. Which is longer than my average novels.

I am so excited about this. I love writing about the Sutton boys. I hope you enjoy reading about them just as much.

I was here like I promised. I just hadn’t got out of my truck yet. I was giving myself a pep talk.  Which was ridiculous considering our history. She was nothing but a childhood fling. One that I was pretending I didn’t remember, which explained me sitting in my vehicle.
“This is a higher level of coward,” I said to myself out loud.
Shaking my head with disgust I got out and headed for the door. The backdoor. Not the front. Bliss had a question about a shipment. I would answer then be on my way. The list that I had of “to do’s” at the place was a half mile long or better, but I couldn’t stay in there with Bliss. Alone, where I could see her and smell her.
Octavia wasn’t going to be happy if she got back and her shit wasn’t finished. I should stay today and get things done. Stop being a dick and hiding. She hadn’t said anything about that summer. Maybe she’d forgotten me too? Lies. I’m lying to myself. Like me, Bliss remembered. I’d seen it on her face the moment we locked eyes. It was as if we were still there. Younger, happier and knowing. Knowing we’d never forget this.
Opening the backdoor I walked inside and stopped short when I saw Bliss’s ass. Stuck up into the air being asslike. It was a nice one. No, scratch that. It was a stellar one and I thoroughly enjoyed the view. The shorts she was wearing rode up high and perfectly cupped her stellar ass. Damn.
She then began to shake that ass, as she remained bent at the waist. She must have heard me come in. Was that why she’d asked me to meet her here? To shake her ass at me? That wasn’t a horrible plan. Currently it was working for her.
“Shake it off, shake it off!” she sang rather loudly, and on key I might add. She then straightened and shook it some more. This time her hips joined in and she did this thing with her hands. It was cute. Blended well with her hips. Bliss York was dancing and I was almost positive she had no idea there was an audience.
She began singing another line, interpreting moves as she unpacked the box. The polite thing to do would be to let her know I was here “not” enjoying myself. Which would be another fucking lie. My guess was she had in ear buds, and couldn’t hear a thing but the music. I wasn’t polite. I let the door close behind me with a thud. That didn’t make her jump so I leaned against the wall crossing my arms to watch. Eventually she’d spin around and here I would be. Bliss would become embarrassed. A nice guy would feel bad about that. As for myself I owed her one. She’d crushed my young heart seven years ago. I might as well make her blush and cringe. Besides, she was giving me a very fond memory, one I would never forget.
The “shake it off” song must’ve ended. Suddenly she belted out “baby, this is what you came for!” I recognized that song. I was impressed with her Rihanna rendition.
Though she didn’t get very far into the song. It was then she threw up her hands, turning in a circle that became a squeal when she saw me standing there. I didn’t move. I just grinned. Then slowly clapped my hands.
She jerked the white cord of her ear buds. As expected her face turned bright red and I felt a little guilty for that. But damn, this was fun to watch. I could get over being a dick. I liked seeing Bliss this way.
For a moment, she was the girl I remembered. The one that made that summer. Now the woman, the Bliss of now, the thing she’d grown into, stammered for something to say.
“I was hoping you’d get to the good part. I think you’d do it better than her. Definitely give her a run for her money.”
I was trying to tease so she’d laugh. It worked, she pressed her lips together, and released a loud giggle. “How long were you standing there?”
“Long enough to see your repertoire of ass wiggling, hip jerking and impressive shimmies I had no idea existed.”
Again, she laughed and covered her face with both hands hiding her embarrassment. “Oh God!”
            “I was entertained as hell.”
She shook her head. I waited until she finally dropped her hands and smiled Bliss York’s huge grin. It was like a punch in the gut. As if time hadn’t happened and she was still fifteen, the smile the same, genuine, full of life. Back then that’s what I loved the most, Bliss enjoying everything. She found the good in everyone without any jealousy or any of the negative shit I was accustomed to hearing from girls my age. She didn’t do that, had no interest in anger or spite.
I once thought her smile the most beautiful thing I’d ever seen because she meant it. Nothing fake in its delivery or meaning. Seeing it again I knew it was the same, no matter what happened after that summer, she was still Bliss York. Now she was just older, more mature and more beautiful.
“I didn’t expect you until later.” She appeared to be explaining herself.

            “Clearly,” I agreed.

Like A Memory

LIKE A MEMORY has been so much fun to write. When I decided to throw the twist at the end of UNTIL THE END with the famous last words being “Nate Finlay” I thought I was setting myself up for something I may do one day.

I didn’t realize readers would beg daily for a book with the kids of Sea Breeze and Rosemary Beach. After all it’s only in Soap Operas that the kids can go from preschool to high school over the summer. I guess in fiction it can happen too…

SO that being said, two years after the end of the Sea Breeze series, I am now doing it.

I’ll be posting things all month about the book and giving you little sneak peeks here and there. This week we are starting with the playlist I listened to while writing for inspiration. As many of you know, I always write to music and with LIKE A MEMORY it was no different.

COMING FEBRUARY 14, 2017

Just as I was about to finish chapter two a shadow fell over me. I figured it was Larissa. Looking up I grinned, about to ask if she had herself a hot date. My eyes locked on a familiar face. One that was older, a face I remembered, from two long summers ago. A face a girl would never ever forget. His silver eyes were stunningly breathtaking.

He was sixteen now but his muscular bare chest looked at least eighteen. I really hoped Larissa didn’t see him. Her tiny bikini and D cup boobs would draw his attention real fast.

“Bliss,” he said, remembering my name.

“Nate,” I replied as I sat up. I’d day dreamed about him often since that meeting on the beach when I was thirteen years old.

He smirked like he was impressed. Like he expected me to remember him but wasn’t positive I would.

“I was beginning to wonder if you still lived around here.” He spoke then moved to take a seat beside me. He made it look sexy and cool, just like I remembered from that summer. He wasn’t awkward, didn’t weirdly squat, like most people do in the sand.

“You’ve looked for me?” I asked. My heart doing a happy flutter in my chest. He had actually wanted to find me.

“Of course I did. You’re my favorite memory about this place. Sure as hell ain’t my grandpop’s bar.”

He cursed. Eli never cursed. My brother’s did when my parents weren’t listening, but they didn’t do it in public. When they were out having to work on the farm they would curse for the sake of cursing. The way Nate did it seemed much older. Like he was sure of himself.

Once She Dreamed – Cover Reveal

Once She Dreamed – Cover Reveal

once-she-dreamed

Everyone in the small country town, Sammy Jo Knox had been born and raised,

never left. They made their life there. Got married, had kids, lived in the same

houses that were always there along the streets that never changed. The whole

white picket fence and tree swing might look good on greeting cards but in real life

it was boring, at least to Sammy Jo.

When Sammy Jo was a little girl she began dreaming of something bigger. Brighter.

Something that wasn’t her town. She wanted to see the world and experience it all.

Just how she was going to do that she had no idea. Because if her momma had her

way she’d marry one of the boys in town and be spitting out babies and going to

church on Sunday with them all lined up in a row.

The day Hale Christopher Jude III walked into the bakery she worked at, she knew

he was it. That part of life she was missing. He smelled of foreign places and exciting

things. He represented all the bright lights she dreamed of and simply put she hoped

he was her way out of this place.

What Sammy Jo didn’t realize was things that appear perfect… aren’t. And chasing

her dreams could lead to something very different.

The idea behind Once She Dreamed came to me this summer. It will be two (maybe

three) novella’s long. Each novella will be 35,000 words. I won’t leave you with a

cliffhanger after each one, I promise. I intend to close each novella at the end of a

part of her life. Sammy Jo faces many sharp turns in her story. Chasing a dream is

never easy.

And one more thing. At the very end… you’ll recognize a character you know. You

just won’t have realized who it was until then.

Once She Dreamed Part One will release October 10. Once She Dreamed Part Two

will release November 14. And after I see how those two do and get reader feed

back there may be a Once She Dreamed Part Three. If so, it will release January 9.

As for now, welcome to the journey of Sammy Jo Knox.
