WRITE BLOODY BOOK RELEASE PARTY
Hey NYC! Tonight, in BROOKLYN, new Write Bloody Author Annelyse Gelman is having a book release party! And they’ve been kind enough to let me read some poems at it! Be there, or regret it when you’re old and you watched that rerun that you forgot about.

If you didn’t see Louie last night, watch this scene. (Or Vulture has the full text of the scene. And an interview with the actress. And a thoughtful response from Danielle Henderson, who is excellent and who’s recapping this season for them.)

Hi Megan! Could you make a list of some magazines/sites where young poets can submit their work? I'm not really sure where to start!
some of my favorite magazines: muzzle, pank, the collagist, frigg.
some spots with higher acceptance rates: germ magazine, the legendary, borderline (for persona poems.)
you can always look in the back of a poetry book you love and see where those artists have been accepted. it’s important to read the journals you are submitting to - get an idea of what they want/need! and remember, your goal is to COLLECT 100 REJECTION SLIPS.
I was wondering how you got started, and what you did/what your day jobs were before you transitioned to a full time writer? What was the time period between college graduation and now like?
i did everything: waitressed, bartended, worked at a grocery store. i graduated college in 2010 and my book was published in 2012. i got started in my college’s poetry slam scene and branched more into publishing once i graduated. thanks for asking!
how did you become a full time poet? that seems like a crazy job!
i quit my day job to go on tour when my book was published, and then i never went back. i do a lot of shows, teach workshops, sling books and work hard! it is a crazy job and my boss is the worsssssssst.
how did you get people to start reading your poetry?
I started reading at open mics and competing in poetry slams, and then I submitted it to journals and posted the published links on line. And I guess some people liked it and kept reading.
Oh my god you just reblogged my post about you and I'm freaking out a little bit because you are literally my favorite poet ever thank you so much. I didnt even realize you had a tumblr.
This is so sweet! I’m glad you like the poems! I’m glad we are alive at the same time in the same wild universe!
Hi :) I wanted to tell you I spent last Easter crying in the bathroom because I had eaten a piece of chocolate and it had saturated fat and this Easter I ate my whole Easter bunny and it was wonderful and I attribute like 86% of that to your poetry. You ar
This is definitely the best compliment my poems have received ever. If my writing makes people feel good about enjoying a chocolate sunday bunny, then I’ve done my job. Thank you.
