Absorvido pela imponência da paisagem, deixa-se surpreender pelos rápidos e é engolido pela fúria das águas. Nesta viagem pelo rio Fernando acaba por ser confrontado por todos os seus medos e demónios. A fé leva-o a fazer desta viagem uma descida de rio em que nunca mais nada será igual.
