Joan Murray - “The hour like a child runs down the angle of star and rests at the bottom”

The hour like a child runs down the angle of star and rests at the bottom

It is a strange woman that may hold that child in its arms

But women prefer to see the hours slip from their fingers

For they are dancing an old earth constituency

I am a little beyond the river and stare from my particular casement

I am slender as the stalk and have my own flowering

I don’t draw from women but I prefer the truth and not the trick of living

Therefore I walk by women as the sea ponders by the shore

I...

Distillation

ayres.jpg

Gillian Ayres OBE - Distillation (1957)

'Distillation' was painted partly in Ripolin household enamel paint and partly in artist's oil colour. Ayres applied the paint with rags and brushes; it was also poured from the can and squirted from the tube. Influenced by photographs of Jackson Pollock working on his drip paintings, Ayres worked on this painting while it was flat on the floor. During its execution, she kept the surface fluid with turps so that she could manipulate the paint rapidly...

Natalie Scenters-Zapico - Notes on My Present: A Contrapuntal

With statements by President Donald Trump

I write my body, as border between
We have some bad hombres here
this rock & the absence of water.
& we’re going to get them out.
I cut myself with a scimitar,
When Mexico sends its people,
as political documentation.
they’re not sending their best.
How do you write about the violence
They’re not sending you.
of every man you’ve ever loved?
They’re sending people
Macho, you
that have lots of problems
breathe bright in the neocolony,
& they’...

I Need You

When you're feeling like a lover

Nothing really matters anymore

I saw you standing there in the supermarket

With your red dress falling and your eyes are to the ground

Nothing really matters

Nothing really matters when the one you love is gone

You're still in me, baby

I need you

In my heart, I need you

Cause nothing really matters

I'm standing in the doorway

You're walking 'round my place

In your red dress, hair hanging down

With your eyes on one, we love the ones we can

Cause nothing re...

Hotel Império

HOTEL IMPÉRIO [Trailer ENG] from O SOM E A FÚRIA on Vimeo.
