((( Signal BooOOST )))

Daily Science Fiction has a Kickstarter Campaign going to raise money to pay awesome writers for awesome stories! They’re getting really close to their goal amount. Toss them a few bucks, or if you’ve got more time than money, give them a little signal boost of your own. Also, Rick Klaw’s Rayguns Over Texas will [...]

Hey Mon!

Remember that In Living Color skit “Hey Mon“ (and the days before political correctness was a thing…)? Yeah, that’s been me with my 15 job! Okay, maybe not quite 15 jobs, but it feels darn close to it. Still, I’ve managed to make some progress on my goals this year. Let’s recap! 1. Finish the two [...]

Progress!

I feel like I’m finally making progress on some of my Somewhat Nonsensical Challenges! Today I planted a cauliflower seedling and some seeds, as well as some old giant pumpkin seeds. Hopefully something will grow! I just have to remember to water them everyday, which shouldn’t be a problem with the weather being as gorgeous [...]

Women and Aliens Month

Women and Aliens Month is officially live at the Drabblecast! This is my second year gathering up a great lineup of alien stories written by women authors. Our first story “Amid the Words of War” is by recent Nebula nominee Cat Rambo. This is one of those stories that drew me in from the first [...]

Raman Noodles

Photo by David Pursehouse, Creative Commons Or rather, Raman for my noodle! So the selection process for THE novel I’m reading this year was brutal. There was a lot of pressure, since there’s so little time to squeeze in the little pleasures in life, and I didn’t want to waste my time on a mediocre [...]

Grinding Away

Getting back into writing and submitting short stories is one of the bazillion things I’m trying to accomplish this year. My first story for the year just got sent away for “Bikes in Space.” I ran it through my crit group last week, and after some revisions and tweaking, I’m really pleased with it. Since [...]

Bikes in SPACE!

If you’re looking for a fun writing prompt, check out the call for submissions for “Bikes in Space!” They’re looking for flash science fiction with a bike theme–two of my favorite things! I’ve already gotten my story mostly written, which means I’m good for January’s story. Plus speaking of bikes, I’ve gotten 5 miles down [...]

Keeping Up With The Creative Joneses

Photo by Pedro Lozano, Creative Commons The New Year Challenges are settling in nicely. So far I’ve dusted off my bike and aired up my tires, I’ve signed up for an online Japanese class, I got a sitar tutorial DVD for Christmas, I’ve run another chapter of Matter-Groove through my critique group, and I’ve even [...]

The Year of Semi-Insane, Moderately Ridiculous, and Somewhat Nonsensical Challenges

Photo by woodleywonderworks, Creative Commons There comes a time in every young writer’s life when she must bear down and spew forth copious amounts of figurative fruit from her literary loins. She must hurdle the boundaries of sanity, embrace the ridiculous, and flirt with the nonsensical–all for the sake of her craft. She must rip [...]

Guest Blog

Fellow writer and Daily Science Fiction author S.C. Wade asked me to be a guest on his “Be Inspired” blog. Seeing as I barely have time to maintain my own blog, I promptly responded YES! So check my entry entitled “Patience is a Kind of Bravery” and be inspired or whatnot!
