"Lichenheart" is a musical journey throughout an ancient moorland.

Greece - Secrets of The Past,

Just finished watching "Greece - Secrets of The Past," released by Imagine Films.
Originally, "Greece - Secrets of The Past" played in IMAX Theatres, and I happened to find it in the Blu-ray/DVD section of Chamblin's Bookmine Uptown, so since the price was right, two dollars, I decided to get it.
Narrated by Nia Vardalos of "My Big Fat Greek Wedding," "Greece - Secrets of The Past" starts off in Santorini, the island believed to have been the site of Ancient Atlantis. Great background music. And narrated by Nia Vardalos, star of "My Big Fat Greek Wedding".It is believed by many archeologists that Cycladic island of Santorini was the site of Ancient Atlantis. Back 3500 years ago, there was a gigantic volcanic eruption that created the magnificent caldera In Santorini. It was thought to created a huge sunami wiping out the entire MInoan civilization. In Santorini there is evidence of a bronze age city, Akoteri. Here is evidence of the lost city of Atlantis. Plato described Atlantis with gray, black and red rocks.
Santorini is the major focus of this movie and it's an intriguing overview of that one Greek island's past.
Strongly Recommended.
Five Stars.

The Bones Beneath My Skin

Just finished reading "The Bones Beneath My Skin" by T.J. Klune, released by TOR Books.
I enjoy reading T.J. Klune because his novels are complex tales of family and emotion with blind leaps of faith as the roller coaster wildly jumps off the tracks. Now having said that, I suspect that I am not the typical reader of T.J. Klune's novels - in other words, I do not define myself by who I may or may not sleep with - which is nobody's business but my own.
Why am I saying this? Because in some circles reading has become a political act and if people believe that you are reading the wrong type of book, they will try to cancel and destroy you. Whenever I read and review and "gay" novel I get hate mail and threats from all sides of the political spectrum since I am a Conservative Jew. Note: Conservative Judaism is not a political movement, think of it as Orthodox Judaism Lite. [And it's rather a telling shame on those people who don't know what being a Conservative Jew actually means.]
T.J. Klune is as compelling and as creative as a writer as J.K. Rowling with the intricacy of his stories and the raw emotion of the characters on the printed page.
Artemis Darth Vader is a space alien on the run. Trapped in the human body of a young girl, she escapes from a mountain containment facility with the help of Alex, her Marine guard who she has formed an emotional bond with, and they find shelter in a cabin belonging to Nate, a disgraced Washington Post reporter, who is running away from his own failed life. Alex is trying to get Artemis back home to her people; and Nate is a reluctant passenger on a journey that may bring them all to a place they can call home.
Klune does describe in the afterward that he originally self-published this novel when the independent publisher he originally was dealing with at the time expressed some reservations about it.
I'm glad that "The Bones Beneath My Skin" is now more widely available.
Strongly Recommended!
Five Stars!

Bleach - Thousand Year Blood War - Part One

Just finished watching "Bleach - Thousand Year Blood War - Part One" released by VIZ Media.
Now this is NOT a good entry point into the series because it is the final story arc. The original anime of "Bleach" debuted back in 2004 and ran for 366 episodes. It's based on the manga of the same name; and "Bleach - Thousand Year Blood War" is the final story arc of the long-running manga.
"Bleach" follows the adventures of the teenaged Ichigo Kurosaki after he obtains the powers of a Soul Reaper—a death personification similar to the Grim Reaper—from a Soul Reaper named Rukia Kuchiki. His newfound powers allow him to take on the duties of defending humans from evil spirits Hollows and guiding departed good souls to the afterlife. "Bleach" does have a rather complicated story line, like all good manga, and has a lot of religious aspects to the plot and overall concept of the series.
"Bleach - Thousand Year Blood War" opens when two new Soul Reapers along with a new enemy appear in Ichigo's hometown of Karakura.
Ichigo jumps back into the battlefield with his Zanpakuto to help those in need. Meanwhile, the Soul Society is observing a sudden surge in the number of Hollows being destroyed in the World of the Living. They also receive separate reports of residents in the Rukon District having gone missing. Finally, the Seireitei, home of the Soul Reapers, come under attack by a group calling themselves the Wandenreich. Led by Yhwach, the father of all Quincies, the Wandenreich declare war against the Soul Reapers with the following message: “Five days from now, the Soul Society will be annihilated by the Wandenreich." The history and truth kept hidden by the Soul Reapers for a thousand long years are finally brought to light. Also Ichigo finally learns the truth about who his mother was and how he was able to become a Soul Reaper.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
TEN STARS!

The Starling Project

Just finished listening to "The Starling Project" by Jeffery Deaver for Audible, released by Brilliance Audio.
Now I almost didn't post a review of "The Starling Project," because IF my information on this audio drama is correct - and it may NOT be, it was created and produced by AudioComics for Audible. The last time I posted a review for Audible, and it was a positive review of their CD release of "Gamadin- Book 1: Word of Honor" - I got a rather nasty email from someone on their staff at the time because I had mentioned that it was the last audio drama that Mom had listened to before she passed away and that she had enjoyed it, as I had. Tom Kirkbride, the author, did send me an nice email expressing his condolences at the time and that he was happy that Mom and I enjoyed the audio adaptation of the first book in his Gamadin series. [I still have all my AudioComics CDs.] AudioComics did apologize for that hateful email when they learned of its contents, but oddly stated that I shouldn't be posting reviews positive or negative because I wasn't being paid to do so. How that was relevant, I'll never know. Hint: That really wasn't an apology and I told them that I would continue posting reviews and have been doing so for over a decade.
So if the team at AudioComics was involved in the production of "The Starling Project," I just might be opening myself up for another nasty email or two. I hope not.
"The Starling Project" popped up as a suggestion on my Amazon page back in 2015, and the description of this audio drama peaked my interest, even though I never read any of Jeffery Deaver's books, so I got it and it's been sitting in my stacks of yet-to-be-listened to audio drama CDs. I also have similar stacks of yet-to-be watched movies and yet-to-be read books.
In "The Starling Project," mild mannered professor and the leader brilliant leader of the "Volunteers," Harry Middleton tries to uncover the secret of "The Starling Project." The story opens with a raid on international arms dealer's house to retrieve some hard drives. The Volunteers get the drives, but lose one of their members in the process. Yet nothing is quite what it seems. Harry's intelligence-driven approach is challenged by the act-first tactics of his newest recruit, DC police detective Kyle Nelson. We are taken through a roller coaster series of twists and turns before Deaver wraps up the story and deposits us at the end, waiting for the next installment.
Middleton and his volunteers appear in two round-robins that Deaver penned with a group of 15 other thriller writers, and there were two more audio dramas released by Brilliance Audio.
"The Starling Project" was great audio thriller and is highly recommended.
Five Stars.

Mikey 17

Just stopped watching "Mickey 17" released by Warner Brothers.
It's very rare that I will stop watching a movie just about 30 minutes into it's two-hour plus run-time, but there was nothing great about this movie, unless you count some of the special effects in the first half hour of the movie I actually watched.
"Mickey 17" is based on the novel "Mickey7" by Edward Ashton and is a great example of how Hollywood mucks up the adaption of a popular novel.
Mikey is an “Expendable” on a faraway icy Earth-like planet. The hapless Mickey has signed up (without actually reading the fine print) to die repeatedly, only to be reprinted in his own body with his own memories. His job is to run interference for the colonizers of this brave new world, whether it’s breathing potentially toxic air or testing experimental vaccines. Whatever violent end he meets, he figures it’s better than the threats that were in store for him from gangsters back on Earth.
At least the movie kept some of the basic principals explored in the source novel. Pity director Bong Joon Ho decided not to be faithful to the book.
Not Recommended.
One Star.

"Uncovering Dinosaur Behavior - What The Did and How We Know"

Just finished reading "Uncovering Dinosaur Behavior - What The Did and How We Know" by David Hone, published by Princeton Press.
Hone, who is a palaeontologist working primarily on dinosaur behaviour and ecology, is also a Reader in Zoology at Queen Mary University of London. He also has his podcast, Terrible Lizards. Dinosaur actually means Terrible Thunder Lizard.
"Uncovering Dinosaur Behavior - What The Did and How We Know" is not for those who have just a casual interest in dinosaurs. Hone has written what can best be described as a graduate course in Dinosauria.
You will need a decent amount of base knowledge of biology, paleontology, and the terms associated with both in order to understand this book though. The book is separated into specific sections, and within those sections describes both specific examples of dinosaur behavior we have direct fossil evidence for as well as general concepts and trends that can be applied to many species.
Each chapter also ends with a case study going into detail about the behaviors of a specific dinosaur species.
Strongly Recommended!

Yamato - The Drummers of Japan"

Just finished watching "Yamato - The Drummers of Japan" released by Yamato.
I was fortunate enough to catch a live performance of Yamato when they were here in Jacksonville earlier in February of this year. I was also more than a little disappointed that they did not offer CDs and DVDs of their performances and music in their pop-up store at the Florida Theater. The young lady whom I bought a Yamato sweatshirt from told me when I asked that she wish they did because they would sell out in a heart beat. Now Yamato did have music CDs and did have DVDs of their various world tours for sales in the 2000s-2010s and I have found these on eBay.
"Yamato - The Drummers of Japan" features five songs from their "Tamashy" tour interspersed with interviews from Yamato's founder which highlights how the group first formed and how they train and perform. The second DVD in this collection features their tour of Germany back in 2005.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
TEN STARS!

Masters of Horror - Vincent Price

Just finished watching "Masters of Horror - Vincent Price," released by Cobra Entertainment LLC.
Vincent Price highlights this collection of three classic black and white horror movies from the late 1950s and 1964. It wasn't unusually for horror movies to be filmed in black and white during this time period because it created a spookier atmosphere.
First up in this collection is "The Bat," which stars Agnes Moorehead as a bestselling mystery writer who finds herself matching wits against a killer who is searching the house she is renting for a hidden million dollar fortune.
Second up is the "House On The Haunted Hill" - a William Castle horror thriller - where a billionaire invites a group of strangers to spend the entire night in a haunted house, but murder is a part of the party games and soon it becomes a question of who is trying to kill who.
The third and final movie in this collection is "Last Man On Earth" - the first and perhaps the most faithful and best adaptation of Richard Matheson's novel "I Am Legend." Price's portrayal of Dr. Robert Morgan, the last living human in a world of vampires/zombies, as he struggles to stay sane is haunting and compelling.
A Strongly Recommended Collection of Vincent Price movies!
Five Stars!
