My impression of young writers in Portland so far: mostly white late 20-somethings from middle class families who were always told that if they went to college and dreamed big they were entitled to whatever they wanted. They have discovered this is not true and think it’s a pretty profound observation.

When you’re not here, I cannot go to sleep
Thank God..."
When you’re not here, I cannot go to sleep
Thank God for these two insomnias

I found the first issue of OTA really well...

I found the first issue of OTA really well edited. There’s still time to submit your images for Issue #2. Thanks, Phil for the nice words!
I found Steven Beckly’s work a couple of years ago on the Feaverish blog, and really admired how such private moments could be captured in such an honest way. I was pleasantly surprised when he emailed over his work to be considered for the next issue.
Check out more of his work here and in Issue #2, released Feb 28th.

Diplo - “Express Yourself” featuring Nicky Da B (directed by lilinternet)
I’m gonna say this again, for those of you who yearn for the energy and danger and artistic vitality that NYC had in the 70s/80s, you need to drop everything and get yourself to New Orleans right now.
Shot in and around the Bywater in New Orleans, features friends of mine like Quack, and Rusty Lazer’s Swoon-festooned front steps and amazing art village, and local characters like Amzie Adams, this is your “must watch” of the week.
(purchase)
This is a bouncy love letter to New Orleans.
i was in New Orleans this past Friday and i went to my first bounce show. i can honestly say it changed my life.
I expect my entire stay in Bywater to be just like this…
