Turkish (otherwise known as Yusef Mehrandish) is from my story Art Criticism and has been one of my favorite characters to write. I like his lazy California dialect and relentless optimism in the face of James’ rebuffs. Also he cooks traditional Iranian dishes—which I admit I am a little obsessed with.
