I am curious about your writing style. Do you work from outlines or just a general sense of where the story and the characters are going? How much of your work in the art world is reflected in James' professional life?
I usually start with a few chapters really loose, hunting and pecking around for the tone of the story and personalities of my characters, then move on to a more defined outline. I do write out of order a lot and end up with a folder of docs with sections of the story I have to weave into the overall narrative. A lot of times it’s those little fic bits that get me unstuck and moving a long. Anything is better than a blank page!
There are for sure people I’ve met or things that happened to me or someone I know mixed into James’ story. Art people are exceptionally quirky and I try not to write anything so specific that if they read it they’d think I was mocking them because I’m just as weird as anyone else and adore the people I’ve gotten to work with. It helps that now days friends know about my writing and offer me materiel to use in the story!

Bucky was as tall and awkward as ever standing on the front step of Turkish’s condo. He reminded Frankie of a big gangly overstuffed scarecrow. “Oh, hey,” he said, mild recognition flashing in his sleepy hazel eyes. “You’re that guy from the other night.”
Frankie assessed him suspiciously from the doorway, taking in his worn flannel shirt and baggy jeans with what he hoped was a neutral expression. “Yes. We spoke at the museum opening.” His mouth felt dry and his stomach was swimming in far too much gin. The universe was trying to teach him something, but he was in no frame of mind to listen to it. “If you don’t mind me asking, what pray tell are you doing here?”
“I’m supposed to be picking up my sister?” He phrased it like a question and that confused Frankie for a moment.
“Are you asking me? Because I really wouldn’t know anything about that. Now if you cared to discuss what happened three years ago…” He paused, a tremor of mild shock running down his spine. “Jesus. Did I just say that out loud?”

I’m back to the vet with Pop Tart today with what looks like a UTI right on the heels of an ear infection, mites and a scary emergency room visit with Gremlin. Bad luck over here guys! Between pups and getting the gallery off the ground, I’m so broke OMG.
That is such a cute dog! What a great name!
I certainly think so! my other dog Gremlin is a really smart, sensitive and affectionate. But Poppy is turning out to be my adorable little monster, an extension of my own bottled up desires, The ID in big eared bulldog form and it’s adding an interesting balance to the household.
