James/Turkish CHP 7 is up (finally!) sorta spoiler fic bit below.
Turkish looked surprised. “Seriously? I thought you wanted to talk?”
“Look, this is me apologizing for freaking out on you earlier, okay? I don’t see any reason to bring up that other stuff.”
He raised an eyebrow and gave James the kind of obnoxious look that made him want to drop his drink in this guy’s lap and possible suck that bottom lip between his teeth all at the same time. It was infuriating. “Like at the art opening, or ditching me at the hotel, or do you mean our conversation at the coffee shop a few days later? You know the part where you don’t apologize with your dick?”
Oh for fuck sake. He threw his up hands. “All of it Turkish. Fine, I was off my game and I feel like an asshat about it. Mea culpa. I just want to redeem myself with a little civility. I’ll even pay for dinner. Just please, can we talk about something I wouldn’t normally pay a therapist to analyze?”
“Civility huh?” Turkish asked after their waiter had brought the appetizers and drinks.
James gave a snort and took a generous gulp from his cup. “Yeah. How am I doing so far?”
Turkish ate a plantain and hummed to himself. “Solid B,” he told him with mock seriousness. “B minus at the worst.”
“That,” James paused, considering, “is pretty generous under the circumstances. Thanks.”
