Writing On

So a couple of months ago I retired from music journalism with a view to allowing more time for other projects and also to help with day to day schedules (I'm a daddy and also work full time). I had a spectacular final hurrah and tried to plan a new schedule. Of course, the writing life is an unpredictable one, as I'm often at the mercy of what my chaotic brain throws out at me.

The new issue of Powerplay Rock and Metal Magazine is here, and this is to be my last issue as a staff writer with the title. I've had the amazing experience of 92 issues as part of the team writing for editor Mark Hoaksey's wonderfully dedicated and varied title, a life-changing experience I'll always be proud of, but the time has come to move on.

JUDGE DREDD MEGAZINE - find me in issue 373!

Well there you have it. The new issue of JUDGE DREDD MEGAZINE, issue 373, contains my prose story 'Tower of Skin'. This is a big moment for me, as I've been a Dredd fan for two and a half decades and have fond memories of picking up the first issue of the Megazine in the early 1990s. I believe I still have the free badge that came with it somewhere!

Exciting times ahead!

I've received word that a story of mine will be showing up in a publication that was extremely influential to me as a kid visiting the Sheffield Space Centre, Nostalgia and Comics (latterly Forbidden Planet) and other similar establishments that fuelled my head with thrill power.

Once it gets announced I'll link to it here. I am pretty much foaming at the mouth with excitement about this.

Thank You For Last Month!

Thank you for March 2016. All of you. It was my biggest month ever since writing for people other than myself, with an estimated 100,000 copies of publications with content I'd written being released during the month (plus thousands of web visits). It was both humbling and a little surreal. Knowing that so many people have been so kind as to check out things I've written is an incredible feeling

Femforce 173 from AC Comics - Out now!

Femforce 173, featuring my story 'The Iron Wake', is out now! With art from the wonderful Jacob Bear and edits from Femforce main-man Mark Heike, it's a solo SHE-CAT adventure featuring the reappearance of a classic villain!

I'm blown away with how Jacob has brought the script to life and how Mark tweaked it. It's so satisfying to see an idea come to
