For the Love of Paranormal Romance! #AllEntangledEve BlogHop!

It's spooky! It's fun! It's the All Entangled Eve Halloween Hop!

And you know what that means! PRIZES! Right! Look out for those down below! But first, how about an excerpt full of supernatural goodness from South of Surrender. Check it out!

Chrys could hardly believe what he was seeing. Nor that Eurus was actually unleashing this horror upon the Earth.
The night sky was in chaos.
Bolts of multicolored lightning zinged through the air. Concussive blasts of thunder unleashed shock waves of turbulence that blew roaring winds this way and that. Rain slashed diagonally until it was almost impossible to see. Hail rained down in body-battering blasts. Trees had fallen—some brought down intentionally to close off the area. Homes had been damaged. Power lines were downed, wires twisting and sparking in the streets.
Aeolus wore the strain of attempting to rein in the elements in the tension on his face and in his muscles. Every time he was successful at drawing down the maelstrom of the storm, Eurus used the power of the ring to whip it up again.
Eurus had help in keeping Aeolus and the Anemoi distracted. A half-dozen Harpies swooped and screeched. And it appeared he’d lured a new ally into his malevolent cause—the Keres, female death daimons who lusted for the blood of dying and wounded men on the battlefield. The black-cloaked wraiths had gnashing teeth and vicious claws.
Between the Harpies and the Keres, it was virtually impossible to get at Eurus.
Only Aeolus could get close. Father and son had engaged in nearly a half hour of grueling lightning-and-wind duels, neither making discernible headway.
Next to his father, Chrys was best equipped to take out the enemy. Between the season, the infernal dagger, and Laney’s amulet, he was about as well protected as you could be. He pulled on his rage for Eurus and his grief for Apheliotes and threw himself into the confusion of the battle.
He flew up behind a wraith hard in pursuit of Livos. Fortunately, the Keres tended to prefer the easy pickings of those unable to fight back. Battle wasn’t their specialty, and their situational awareness wasn’t well developed. Chrys zoomed in close enough to slash the blade down the Keres’s back, then veered hard left to avoid the imploding spray of blood into which it dissolved.Chrys took out another and another, but there seemed an unending supply of the evil spirits.
Boreas and Zeph flew up. “We’re going after Eurus. All of us. At once.”
The final Anemoi book releases 4/22/14!Chrys followed, determination flaring. They truly were strongest together. With the lesser Anemoi drawing away the Harpies and Keres, the three brothers launched themselves toward Eurus and all at once unleashed the combined power of their winds.
The blast knocked Eurus back, allowing Aeolus to get in an unblocked hit with a lash of lightning. Eurus screamed in thunderous rage, then unleashed a wild wall of wind that pounded into the Anemoi and scattered them uncontrollably.
Chrys slammed to the ground and rolled to the right just in time to avoid a swooping Harpy, talons out and ready to grab. Groaning from the impact, he saw the best news of the whole night. The flash of Eurus’s lightning was dimmer, less frequent. Almighty Zeus, please let that mean Father’s strike hit something vital.
And if you love paranormal romance, check out all my titles! I've got seven stories full of supernatural goodness!

Welcome Guest Author Elizabeth Otto! #TemptingtheCowboy

Welcome Guest AuthorElizabeth Ottoto the Blog!
Welcome, Elizabeth!  Please share a little about yourself, your genres, any other pen names you use.
Thank you so much for having me today. I’m a fulltime EMT by day and writer of contemporary and paranormal romance by night. I’m also the mom of three crazy kids. I write under the name Elizabeth, but everyone (I mean, everyone) calls me Lisa. So please do!
Okay, Lisa! *winks* Tell us a little about your latest or upcoming release.
TEMPTING THE COWBOY is a romance, of course, but it’s also a story about the courage and vulnerability it takes to start over after you’ve lost everything. Both Cole and Rylan have gone through deep emotional issues and, in their own ways, have hit rock bottom. Rylan comes to Cole’s ranch to work as a housekeeper—a far cry from her former career as a metro police officer. She’s hoping hard, monotonous work will help keep her mind off her pain, but what she finds in the wilds of Montana does so much more than that. Cole is just as unprepared for how Rylan’s changing affects him, and his heart—when he was absolutely sure he was beyond the ability to have feelings for, or trust, a woman again.

Awesome! Which character is your favorite and why?
I love them both, but if I have to choose, I’d say Cole. In many ways, his protective instincts and love for his daughter mirror those of my own father. I completely captured my childhood in the relationship between Cole and his daughter, Birdie.
Awww! As the author, what surprised you about this story?
How easily the entire story came to me. It was like my brain had been waiting to just spit it out! I completed this book, start to finish, in seven weeks—a record for me!
Love when that happens! Congrats! Will there be any sequels or other books in the same series?
Yes! The Paint River Ranch series follows all three Haywood brothers. The second installment, One Night with A Cowboy, is Tucker Haywood’s story and is due to release in January, 2014. The third, currently untitled, follows Levi Haywood after his return to Paint River Ranch, from Iraq as a wounded veteran and will release in April, 2014.
What was the hardest thing for you about writing this story?
Rylan’s loss, and the reason she left Wisconsin for Montana. In many ways, I could connect with her pain.
What are you working on right now?
I’m currently working on a contemporary Native American romance series, for a publishing house that I can’t name just yet. I also have a Firefighter series going on submission. Fingers crossed I can share happy upcoming publishing news, soon.
Ooh, congrats! What happened to the first book you ever wrote?
Would you believe that I still have it? It’s in a file box that I’ve carried around with me since I was sixteen—and it’s full of words that will never, ever see the light of day again.
LOL! Have you incorporated actual events or people from your own life into your books?
Absolutely. I work as an emergency medical technician in my professional life, and that feeds me endless situations, personalities and characters to work with.
I bet it does! Is there a theme or message that runs through your work?
Just that you can always, always expect a happily-ever-after. It might be a hard road to get there, but we’ll get there!
What would your readers be surprised to learn about you?
That I grow heirloom squash and pumpkins from 100 year old seeds?? That’s kind of boring, but I get a kick out of it.
I like it! Which romance book or series (or other genre, if you don’t write romance) do you wish you had written?
Anya Bast’s Dark Enchantment, paranormal romance series. Everything about the world and characters is amazing. I just want to be privy to the inside of her brain and roll around on her creativity.
Of all the characters you’ve ever written, who is your favorite and why?
So far, I’d have to say Tucker Haywood, the hero of the next book in the Paint River Series. You’ll see why. He’s an extra helping of sass and snark mixed with sexy. Love him.
Okay, now, just for fun: Milk chocolate or dark chocolate? Dark, always!
Salty or sweet? Salty.
Bed or kitchen table? Uh, both??
Beach or mountains? Hands down, mountains.
Give or receive? Give!
Excerpt:

(The heroine, Rylan, encounters Cole for the first time, in a bar, where he’s had just a bit too much to drink.)
“What the hell?” Cole turned to fully face her, grumbling something about a man not even being able to get drunk without work interrupting. His snug shirt dipped into the lines of his chest, creating a tempting outline of firm pecs, narrow waist, and tight abdomen. A thick leather belt with a square silver buckle set the tone for the well-worn jeans clinging to his long legs. Rylan hitched an eyebrow. At least there was one good thing about this trip—the hype about cowboys being sexy as hell was true.
More than a little irritated with how her lust was playing tennis with itself, Rylan crossed her arms. “Hell is appropriate, actually. Now down the drink, and give me your keys.” She had one hand on her hip—habit, she supposed, from reaching for cop toys to make jerks like Haywood behave. His eyes fell to her lips again and stayed there.             “You were supposed to take the bus to Greenbrook. Tomorrow.”  His tone implied she was an idiot.
Irritation growing.
“Right, well, sometimes things just don’t work out the way they’re supposed to.” Like life.
His hand cupped the beer glass while he studied her. Rylan stared right back, wishing the butterflies would take a hike. What was this reaction about? Cooped up too long with too little interaction with the outside world, she guessed. Her body was reacting to the first enticing man she’d seen in too damn long. Good thing Cole was her boss so she wouldn’t be tempted to act on her brain’s internal “look at the pretty cowboy” jumping and pointing.
Cole pulled his lower lip between his teeth and narrowed his eyes. “You’re a little ornery.” He reached one hand to her shoulder and flipped a chunk of her hair.
Rylan’s breath ran away as the back of his hand brushed over her collarbone. A shiver raced over her body, warm and sweet. She leaned away from him. “Excuse me?”
He shrugged, a slow smile crossing his face at her reaction. “That’s okay. Ornery is good.”
Her lips parted to sling an insult, but she refrained. No sense in wasting perfectly good angst on a drunk who wouldn’t remember it in five seconds. “I’ll play along. Whyis that good?”
Cole took a slow breath, his eyes darkening. “Because you’re pretty. I like pretty. But I don’t like ornery. So we should be just fine.” He nodded as though he’d just made a deal with himself and was quite pleased about it. Before she could even think of a response, he shoved his beer away, untouched, and moved from the bar.

Introducing the Sexy Tattooed Men of Hard Ink (Video)! #HardAsItGets

It's just seven weeks until the release of Hard As It Gets (Hard Ink #1) and I'm thrilled to share a video interview about the book and the series that Avon Books made for me. (And I would be remiss if I didn't thank the USA Today HEA Blog for debuting this video for me first!)

It was a lot fun and a little embarrassing being filmed for this video. We used three locations--the City Dock area of downtown Annapolis, the plaza in front of the Maryland State Capitol building, and the Maryland WWII monument overlook of Annapolis and the Naval Academy. At the first location, at least a half dozen people stopped to ask who I was and what we were doing! Talk about embarrassing! LOL But Avon did a good job of making me look not too dorky, and the end result is pretty fun (and hot, just look at all the sexy tattooed men in this bad boy!)! Take a look:

Tall, dark, and lethal...

Trouble just walked into Nicholas Rixey's tattoo parlor. Becca Merritt is warm, sexy, wholesome--pure temptation to a very jaded Nick. He's left his military life behind to become co-owner of Hard Ink Tattoo, but Becca is his ex-commander's daughter. Loyalty won't let him turn her away. Lust has plenty to do with it too.

With her brother presumed kidnapped, Becca needs Nick. She just wasn't expecting to want him so much. As their investigation turns into all-out war with an organized crime ring, only Nick can protect her. And only Becca can heal the scars no one else sees.

Desire is the easy part. Love is as hard as it gets. Good thing Nick is always up for a challenge...

Revealing East of Ecstasy's Cover (and Hero)!

Click here for the Sunset on Summer Fun Blog Hop!

I am super excited to share with you the final cover in my award-winning Hearts of the Anemoi series, East of Ecstasy. This last book releases April 22, 2014, and will represent my first completed series - how cool is that?

So, here we go:

And who's this final book about??? I was totally tickled there was debate about it after South of Surrender. *grins*
Annalise Fallston made peace with postponing her big-city dreams to care for her ill father, but lately she’s been filled with a restlessness not even her beloved painting dispels. Worse, the colors don’t speak to her as they always have, and all her efforts produce dark, foreboding images of a dangerous man and a terrifying future.

Devlin Eston, black-souled son of the evil Anemoi Eurus, is the only one who can thwart his father’s plan to overthrow the Supreme God of Wind and Storms. But first, Dev must master the unstable powers he’s been given. Distrusted and shunned by his own divine family, he never expected to find kindness and passion in the arms of a mortal.

But Devlin’s love puts Annalise in the path of a catastrophic storm, and in the final Armageddon showdown between the Anemoi and Eurus, sacrifices will be made, hearts broken, and lives changed forever…or lost.

So, what do you think??? I can't wait to see all four of these together on my shelves!

Sunsets on Summer Fun with Greek God Chrysander Notos! #BlogHop

Welcome to the Sunset on Summer Fun blog hop! I'm excited to participate and share with you some end-of-summer fun!

I've got some awesome prizes below, but first I'm joining in the summer celebration by sharing an excerpt with you from South of Surrender, the third book in my award-winning Hearts of the Anemoi series that features Chrysander Notos, Supreme God of the South Wind and Guardian of Summer.

Enjoy:

“Stop it, Laney. Just stop.” He hated the gruffness of his words, but couldn’t control it.
Her jaw dropped open. “What?”
“Stop…” He tugged his fingers through his wet hair. Tempting me to give in. Tormenting me with things I can never have but want so desperately I can’t breathe. Desire and regret lodged a knot in his throat.
A range of emotions played over her face. Hurt. Rejection. Anger.
Determination.
Laney pushed into the center of the pool. He sat up straight in his seat, his back coming hard against the tub’s side. “What do you want me to stop doing, Chrysander? Huh?” She waded closer and stopped right in front of him. “Do you want me to stop caring? Do you want me to stop worrying about you when, for the third time since we’ve met, your brother has tried to kill you? And nearly succeeded? Do you want me to stop thinking about making love with you? About how good you felt inside me?”
Stop,” he said again, bracing his hands against the walls to restrain the urges her words were letting loose, heartfelt urges that warred with every bit of his common sense.
She pushed closer, her legs skimming the insides of his spread thighs. “I can’t stop. I wouldn’t want to even if I could. I lo—”
He lunged for her and claimed her in a devouring, soul-stirring kiss. He knew what was about to come out of her mouth, because she was wearing the emotion on her face, in her eyes. He just couldn’t hear it. He wasn’t ready for it. He might never be ready for it because he wanted to hear the words so damn bad.
Laney moaned into the kiss. Cradling her face, he drew her in closer, plundered her mouth thoroughly and deeply with his tongue. He poured every bit of suppressed longing into the kiss until she was swaying, jostled by the flowing, bubbling water. She stumbled and threw her arms out for balance. But what she didn’t do was try to touch him.
As if he didn’t already care more than he should, at that moment he felt what only could be called love for Laney Summerlyn.
About South of Surrender:
She's the only one who can see through his golden boy façade to the broken god within...

Chrysander Notos, Supreme God of the South Wind and Summer, is on a mission: save Eurus from his death sentence and prove his troubled brother can be redeemed. But Eurus fights back, triggering vicious storms that threaten the mortal realm and dangerously drain Chrys.

Laney Summerlyn refuses to give up her grandfather's horse farm, despite her deteriorating vision. More than ever, she needs the organized routine of her life at Summerlyn Stables, until a ferocious storm brings an impossible—and beautiful—creature crashing down from the heavens.

Injured while fighting Eurus, Chrys finds himself at the mercy of a mortal woman whose compassion and acceptance he can't resist. As they surrender to the passion flaring between them, immortal enemies close in, forcing Chrys to choose between his brother and the only woman who's ever loved the real him.

That’s a lot of money and a lot of responsibility. However, I have come up with an alternative. Please see the guidelines before for International entry. DO NOT enter the contest unless you can accept the guidelines. I do not want to award this prize to a winner who cannot attend the event due to International travel issues.
An international winner will be awarded a $700 voucher toward airfare (the approximate cost of a US city to US city flight), and the winner will be responsible for the remaining cost to travel into the US. Before entering this contest, ask yourself if you have the funds to cover the rest of the trip. Check out rates. Get information. DO NOT enter if you cannot purchase the rest of the ticket.International winner must have a valid passport and meet all traveling requirements that are set forth by the United States Government.
This is a prize package that averages between $2,000-$3,000 when its all said and done. It's huge. It's epic. It's going to be a hell of a lot of fun in New Orleans.
Your hotel room is already booked. Your flight is waiting for you. Your registration is pending. So what are you waiting for?
Thanks for reading! And good luck!
