Celia T. Rose Shares an Excerpt from #DreamMan!
I’m excited to share a fun excerpt from Celia T. Rose’s book Dream Man today! Read on!
Excerpt
“Wait. I thought you looked familiar. I just read about you in The Hollywood Reporter. Nice article about your work.”
Felicity felt her face burn with embarrassment. He’d read about her! “Yes. That’s me. I’m flattered you saw it.”
“I like to see local talent get ahead. I’m impressed with your tenacity in fighting against the brass in Hollywood. What was it the article said? That’s right, you’re a savant.”
Heat flashed in her chest. “Yeah, I had to look that one up myself. But, I’m not exactly playing in the big leagues.”
“You’re getting there.” He wiggled his eyebrows.
Felicity could feel the flush run to her cheeks. “I do have an idea for a new reality series . . .”
“I read a little about it in the article. Tell me more.”
He seemed genuinely interested.
“I have an idea for a new show. It’s a step-up from the usual gossip, drama-ridden stuff.” Felicity took a deep breath and waited for the right words to formulate in her mind. “What if there were a series played by executive women who were on the fast track building their careers while juggling family responsibilities or a vivacious social schedule with a super-charged sex life? I envision the show to have just enough edge to give today’s hard-working professionals a chance to escape from their daily challenges.”
“Sound interesting. Have you pitched it to Applaud!?”
“First, they don’t think I’m seasoned enough to have my own show. Second, they’re fully booked. The established franchises have taken all of the prime TV slots. There’s simply no room.”
“Yeah, but I’m sure each franchise has a certain shelf life. Like everything else in television.”
“Maybe.”
Max seemed to be contemplating something.
Guilt pulled at her heart as her thoughts returned to her sister in surgery. The timing is way off. Too bad, she’d met Max under such unfortunate circumstances.
Then the dratted interruption occurred. “Sir, the doctor would like to see you about Ms. Hernandez.”
Max stood but took a moment to slip Felicity his card.
She scrambled to locate her own and pressed it to his hand.
“Why don’t you give me a call? We’ll meet for lunch.” He scurried to the awaiting attendant and glanced back. “Hope your sister’s okay.”
Then he disappeared behind the open door.
Did she just have a chat with Maxwell Marx? Did he really give her his business card? She stared at it and read it repeatedly:
Maxwell Marx, Actor, Entrepreneur.
She’d love to take their discussion further—professionally and personally.
Her dream!
Relax, girl. He was probably just being polite.

Felicity Burgess is no stranger to tough breaks in business and in love. And she deals with them very well on her own. She has no choice. After the sudden death of her parents, Felicity must support herself and her sister. She fights her way up the ranks at a local television network and directs her own-inspired teen reality show. Despite raving reviews, the network won’t give her the title or the pay of director. Or a shot at running with her new show.
Her sister is a trouble-bound teen and lands in a hospital due to a weather related car accident. But Felicity also taps into something deeper in him. A place he’s purposely protected from any woman to penetrate. He enjoys Felicity’s company, and hopes to keep her at bay, yet she threatens to unravel his protective cocoon he spun out of the pain from his past. A pain he doesn’t intend to face again.

Vote for your fave Hard Ink couple to get a wedding novella!
A Hard Ink Special Announcement!
As I celebrate the release last week of Hard to Let Go, the finale in my Hard Ink romantic suspense series, I’m super excited to share some more news about Hard Ink! I’m going to do another book in this series. And not just any book. I’m going to write a wedding novella for one of the couples in the series!! And I’m so flippin’ excited!!!
This is how this idea came about: I happened to see another author celebrating the release of a follow-up wedding book, and I’ve never written any follow-up stories about any of my characters—once they’ve gotten their happily ever afters in their original story, I just moved right on to the next couple. But that author’s book got me thinking about who I would even do a follow-up story on. Who is it that would get married? My initial thoughts went right to the Hard Ink series, of course, because I’ve been immersed in this world for the past two years and absolutely adore these characters. Seriously – I know many of us have joked about the title of the last book being apropos, and trust me when I say I’m feeling that, too. I want more Hard Ink myself.
And then I had to ask – which couple? My gut instinct was to say Nick and Becca. They started the series, have been together the longest, and the personal issues they each have and struggles they each face are less than some of the other characters. BUT…
But then my brain started to think about all the other couples. And as I thought through all of them, I could make a case why any of the Hard Ink couples might be the first to get married.
And that’s where YOU come in.
I can’t decide which couple to write.
I could make the argument for Nick and Becca for all the reasons above. I could make the argument that Shane would be eager to take care of Sara in every way he can. I could make the argument that Easy and Jenna’s bond would be so tight because of the hell Easy’s come through and him having saved Jenna’s life. Marz has never wanted anything more than a family, so I could see him being eager to make Emilie his forever. Jeremy and Charlie had the bond of best friends before becoming lovers, and I could see the two of them wanting to prove the depth of their love by committing to forever. And Kat so knocked Beckett on his ass that I could see him wanting to hold her tight and, well, never let go – and finally have a family that valued him.
So, yeah, I can’t decide!

In the dim glow of the bedside lamp, she lay curled on her side on top of the covers, her wavy blond hair sliding over her cheek and neck. One of his old gray Army t-shirts draped loosely over her upper body and hips, but her legs were bare.
He’d never seen anything sexier. And he’d never been more in love.
Hell, he’d never been in love before at all.
But since they’d met almost a month before, Becca had stood up for him, put herself in harm’s way for him, and devoted herself to clearing his name. And along the way, she’d stolen his heart. Right after she’d put it back together again.
Nick hadn’t thought any of that possible. Not given the anger he’d carried around since a roadside ambush in Afghanistan had killed half of Special Forces teammates, torn apart his own body, and ultimately resulted in his other-than-honorable discharge from the Army. He’d felt cold and hard and dark inside for so long. Until he’d found his Sunshine.

No way was he taking the chance that something might happen to him without having said what needed to be said.

What she had not bargained for was to connect with Beckett Murda; they’d had a tense relationship before. Beckett is angry, he’s always angry, he’s angry at everything, and learning why nearly broke my heart. But Kat is tough and as she stands up to him and doesn’t push him away, as he thought, Beckett realises that he has to rid himself of the dark echoes from his past if he is to have a life, and the unexpected help comes in the lovely form of Kat Rixey.
