Dancing Daleks, Ice Buckets, Doctor Who Porn & More!

Sharper than Novice Hame’s front teeth, bigger than Boe’s face, and more witty than Dorium Moldovar at an insterstellar cocktail party… it’s the Kasterborous News Blast! In today’s Blast of news, it’s 12 times the excitement as: smart people love Doctor Who, a naughty parody for the Doctor turns up, Amy Pond gets frozen, the USA magazines go Who-wild, and Clara says goodbye (again)? So grab my hand, take a deep breath, don’t blink… and LISTEN!
The Rory Williams Death Record Still Stands… For Now
Will she go or will she stay? And if she does stay, will present-day Clara survive Series 8? The speculation and rumors continue to percolate around Jenna Coleman’s Doctor Who future. A few weeks ago, she’s quoted as saying “I’m enjoying the storytelling and the new relationship with the Doctor so… as long as you keep enjoying it, I think that’s the important thing.”
Writer Paul Jones of the Radio Times points out that companions don’t last more than a series or two, so it shouldn’t be a surprise that she’s may be “considering her exit strategy.” Let’s hope she thinks things through for a little while longer…
Who Gets Covered!
In the last few weeks, Doctor Who (Peter Capaldi, to be specific) has made the covers of both Entertainment Weekly and TV Guide in the USA. The more recent is TV Guide, which also features a five-page article (if you count a two-page photo spread of Capaldi in the TARDIS) on the upcoming series.
Small side articles include looks at guest stars (like Keeley Hawes), synopses of the first three episodes, and a quick introduction to “The New Companion” Samuel Anderson (Danny Pink).
I’ve Never Wanted To Be A Bucket So Badly In All My Life
Call them Ice Warriors: The Internet craze that everyone is talking about, at least for the next day or two, is the phenomenon of the “ice bucket challenge”. It all started as a unique way to raise money for ALS (also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease in the USA) by having people get buckets of cold water dumped on their heads. This soon ballooned into celebrity after celebrity being doused in icy water on Youtube and other internet sites. Recently, Matt Smith (the Eleventh Doctor) accepted the challenge and then put forth a challenge of his own to former companion (and real-life best bud), Karen Gillan!
If (and when) she accepts, that is one video that may cause YouTube to melt down.
On a side note, this is surely the Ice Bucket Challenge to end them all:
EX-EX-EX-TERMINATE!
Are you ready to see the Doctor playing doctor? Well, the makers of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Game of Thrones porn parodies have turned their naughty attention to our favorite Time Lord and produced a Doctor Who XXX video. According to a SFW article on Giant Freakin Robot, it features an Eleventh Doctor-ish fellow with versions of River Song (or a frizzy-haired likeness thereof), Rose Tyler, Martha Jones, and Amy Pond. What, no Captain Jack Harkness!?
Sigh. At least something like this shows just how popular Doctor Who has become… I guess.
Give Me A Mo’ To Smarten Meself Up A Bit
In an article on the ABC Southern Queensland page, an Australian professor of history says that he loves Doctor Who… and he’s not the only academically-minded person who does. Dr. Marcus Harmes says, “There’s a surprisingly large number of academics who write books and articles and do conference presentations on Doctor Who”.
He said that the show does a good job of mixing facts with fun: “[The makers of Doctor Who] aren’t making claims for accuracy. They have fun with the sources they are using. It is a serious show, but the writers are very inventive… It’s tremendous fun to watch and spot the references. Sometimes they are clever and sometimes very obvious.”
Peter Davison Heads Back Down Under
The Doctor Who Symphonic Spectacular, a spin-off of the popular Proms concerts, will be returning to New Zealand in February 2015. Also returning to host the show (featuring music by Murray Gold and conducted by Ben Foster) will be Fifth Doctor Peter Davison!
Says Davison: ”I had a fantastic time on the Doctor Who Symphonic Spectacular Tour in Australia and New Zealand earlier this year… and I can’t wait to join you again with this exciting new show.” The 2015 Spectacular will also feature appearances by several of the Doctor’s foes, such as the Cybermen, Weeping Angels, and dancing Daleks.
Next year’s show will also be the first to include music from Peter Capaldi’s Series 8 and will be held on February 15, 2015!
Ohh! Can You Smell Chips?
And finally, the Beyond the Marquee webpage has a feature on Lindalee Rose visiting a Doctor Who-themed restaurant outside of New York City. For those who don’t know, Lindalee is the primary school Lois Lane of the Who convention set. Name a Who actor, and Lindalee has probably interviewed them in a Youtube video. For this assignment, she went to The Pandorica, a restaurant founded by London-born Shirley Hot. The restaurant has TARDIS menus, blue furniture, and Van Gogh “Exploding TARDIS” artwork. It has also become a very popular destination for Doctor Who fans. Sounds good! Let’s just hope her chips aren’t made by the Krillitanes!
Well, that’s it for today’s News Blast!

Doctor Who In Parliament Square Gallery
Christian Cawley is a writer at Kasterborous Doctor Who News and Reviews - All the latest Doctor Who news and reviews with our weekly podKast, features and interviews, and a long-running forum.
The BBC today has released a new selection of images to herald Doctor Who Series 8′s return to screens on Saturday, with the Doctor, Clara and the TARDIS in London’s Parliament Square.
Whether the images are supposed to remind fans of Peter Capaldi’s former life as foul-mouthed, verbal abuse genius Malcolm Tucker we’re not sure, but whatever the truth these are a striking selection of images, which you can see below via our Facebook page. (You’ll need a Facebook login to view these.)

Are BBC Exec’s Female Doctor Who Comments Just Trolling?
Jonathan Appleton is a writer at Kasterborous Doctor Who News and Reviews - All the latest Doctor Who news and reviews with our weekly podKast, features and interviews, and a long-running forum.
Just in time for the launch of the new series, the female Doctor question has been opened up again, this time in comments by BBC TV drama chief Danny Cohen.
Speaking at the Edinburgh International Television Festival on Thursday, Cohen was asked whether there could ever be a woman in the role. “I hope so,” said the man who oversees the Beeb’s drama output.
What are we to make of this? It’s all about the context, of course, and it’s easy to over-state the significance of what may well have been a fairly throwaway moment in the course of a wide-ranging discussion. Against that, Cohen must have been well aware that, coming from someone in his position, a comment like this would be sure to be picked up and reported.
Is Cohen guilty of a bit of self-publicity here? It’s no secret that the BBC has had more than its share of troubles in recent years with accusations of sexism. Was he perhaps hoping to gain some brownie points for his gender equality credentials? Maybe I’m in a good mood cos it’s the weekend but I’m inclined to think not, to be honest. He was asked a straight question and he gave a straight answer, and if it’s his honest opinion that there should be a female Doctor then fair enough.
Was he looking to gain press attention for his appearance at the festival? It could be argued that, in the week when the show’s new star is about to make his debut, it’s less than helpful for the drama department head to get drawn into this. It would have been easy enough to bat the question away with something along the lines of “we’re very happy with the Doctor we have, thanks very much and, crises threatening the very existence of the universe aside, there can only be one Doctor at a time.” But it’s also worth mentioning that in the same discussion Cohen gave Peter Capaldi a ringing endorsement, saying he “is going to be an astonishingly good Doctor.”
Steven Moffat has had a lot of practice dealing with this question and his response, whatever your personal views on the woman Doctor issue, is surely the right one. Essentially it’s about casting the right person for the role and “when that person is a woman, that’s the day it will happen.”
“You don’t cast for any other reason than for passion and for aesthetics. It’s not a political decision, it’s an aesthetic decision and will always be,” said Moffat, speaking at this year’s Hay Festival.
What do you think? Should Cohen have kept his opinion to himself? Or was he right to give voice to his view?

Doctor Who History Compilation 1963-2014
Joe Siegler is a writer at Kasterborous Doctor Who News and Reviews - All the latest Doctor Who news and reviews with our weekly podKast, features and interviews, and a long-running forum.
A couple of years ago I saw a video on YouTube which detailed every Doctor Who story out there. Chap by the name of Babelcolour put that together, and I enjoyed the heck out of his video. Was a lot of fun. Like most Doctor Who fans, I thought “I can do that”, so I decided to do one of my own.
Today I finally finished off my last edit of the video, which goes all the way up to Deep Breath, which airs Saturday night on BBC1. No, I didn’t use the leak, I used the trailer for footage.
This is now the third edit of the video. The original one ended on December 25th, 2010 when A Christmas Carol was the then newest episode. My second update ran through The Snowmen on December 25th, 2012. This current update brings it up to speed with Peter Capaldi.
Put simply, this video is a compilation sequence where I picked a clip from every episode of Doctor Who, as well as a few other things (like some prequels). The hardest part of the entire process was actually picking all the clips. You’d think it would be easy, but as you work on it, you have to realize that you need some clip that is indicative of what is going on in that episode. There were a handful where I picked a clip that wasn’t 100% relevant (and I noted that in the text during the video, that it was “for” someone). Or it just happened to be a clip I thought was funny, or one I liked personally. It was my video, so what the heck? Also, the one thing I didn’t care for with Babelcolour’s video is that he restricted himself to like a second or two for every story. I didn’t care for that, I wanted to go longer if I felt like I liked the clip or I just wanted to.
Then you had to extract out all the clips from the various episodes, and assemble them all somewhere, put ‘em into the video editor, create titles, work on volume levels (with so many video sources, volume levels were a real problem), and then make numerous passes for quality check, etc, etc, etc.. A lot of time was spent on this, and I’m quite happy with the way the overall product turned out, even if Doctors 4 & 11 crashed my video editor a few times from so many clips!
On previous versions of my video, some have thought I made odd choices for specific clips and episodes. IF you have a question about any of the clips, lay it on me, I’d love to hear some feedback. They’re all here. From Hartnell to Capaldi, and including John Hurt (and both sides of his regeneration), Peter Cushing, etc. Every companion in the entire show’s run makes an appearance somewhere, and if you aren’t current with Doctor Who episodes, you might not want to watch the entire thing, as I assume you’ve seen all of this, I make no attempt to hide spoilers here.
So grab some popcorn, and check out this video. The entire thing is 1:05:06 – longer than most Doctor Who episodes themselves. I had a lot of fun putting it together, I hope you enjoy it.
Let me know what you think – would really love to hear it.

The Time of the Doctor ReKapped! Part One
Philip Bates is a writer at Kasterborous Doctor Who News and Reviews - All the latest Doctor Who news and reviews with our weekly podKast, features and interviews, and a long-running forum.
Once, there was a planet, much like any other, and unimportant. This planet sent the universe a message. A bell tolling among the stars, ringing out to all the dark corners of creation. And everybody came to see. Although no one understood the message, everyone who heard it found themselves afraid. Except one man.
The man who stayed for Christmas…
The Doctor holds aloft a Dalek eye-stalk: “I bring proof of courage and comradeship. What is this ship and why are you here? Identify yourselves by species and planet of origin.”
“Exterminate!”
Daleks surround him, and, grabbing at an ear-piece, he sends an instruction to teleport him away.
He finds himself back on the TARDIS, yelling to a broken Cyberman head that sits on the console: “Don’t put me on a Dalek ship when I’m holding a broken bit of Dalek!” Handles, as he has christened it, tells him that the message has beamed across the universe – hence why the Daleks, Sontarans, Terileptils, Slitheen and countless other species are now orbiting the would-be-quiet little backwater planet.
The phone goes and he asks Handles to remind him to patch the phone back through the console. Handles does this immediately. “No, not now!” the Doctor says, exasperated. “Remind me later… Just pick a random number, express that number as a quantity of minutes, and when that time has elapsed, remind me to patch the telephone back through the console unit.” He heads outside and picks up the phone on the TARDIS exterior door.
It’s Clara! And she needs a boyfriend…
Clara’s cooking Christmas dinner for her family, and she accidentally invented an imaginary boyfriend. Meanwhile, the Doctor has landed on a new ship – and is being shot at by Cybermen.
The TARDIS materialises on the green outside Clara’s block of flats. She enters… to find the Doctor naked. “I wondered if you’d notice,” the Doctor says. Suddenly, he’s clothed again. Though not actually. “Hologram clothes,” he explains, “projected directly onto your visual cortex.”
She introduces him to her Dad, her Dad’s new girlfriend, Linda, and her Gran, and then takes him into the kitchen to help with the turkey. It’s not going to be cooked in time. What they need is a time machine.
Back in the TARDIS (orbiting, once more, the mysterious planet), the turkey exposed to time winds, Clara meets Handles, a Cyberman with no organics, but with a full set of data banks, found on the Maldovar Market. Handles has finally found out the name of the planet.
“Gallifrey.”
The Doctor doesn’t accept this. Even if he did save his home planet, it’s gone from his universe, trapped in a pocket of time.
A massive ship approaches them, a projection of a tall, dark-haired woman beckoning them aboard. “Papal Mainframe. It’s like a great big flying church,” the Doctor says. “The first ship to arrive. They are the ones who shielded the planet; they can get us down there.”
He gives Clara a pill to swallow: a holographic projector. Because you can’t go to church fully clothed.
Next, she meets Tasha Lem, Mother Superious of the Papal Mainframe, who takes them to her chapel for a little privacy. She shielded the planet (because if one ship lands, they all go down, and that’ll result in bloodshed) and will let the Doctor go down under a few conditions: find the source and report back within one hour; cause no trouble; no technology.
Outside the chapel, the Silence gather…
He gives her his TARDIS key – because with it, he could summon the TARDIS – and he and Clara use Tasha’s personal teleport to beam down to the planet.
Its icy cold, the ground covered in snow. The Doctor hugs Clara, trying to keep her warm. And then a hand grabs her foot. Weeping Angels below the snow! Trying to escape, they fall down a hill, getting closer to the source of the message. Weeping Angels follow – amass around them – closing in – nearly on them –
The Doctor pulls off his hair and unveils another TARDIS key. The Time-Space ship materialises around them. He shaved off his hair one night because hey, he got bored.
Back in ordinary clothes, and dressed for the freezing weather, the Doctor and Clara head to the local human settlement. “Right, we’re a couple from the next town,” the Doctor tells Clara. “My name’s probably Hank or Rock – something like that.” But when they meet two villagers, Abramal and Marta, the Doctor reveals: “I’m the Doctor. I’m a Time Lord from the planet Gallifrey. I stole a time machine and ran away and I’ve been flouting the principal law of my own people every since.”
And Clara lets out that she’s “an English teacher from planet Earth, and I’ve run off with a man from space because I really fancy – ” She slaps her hand over her mouth.
The Doctor realises that the town is in a truth field, so no one can tell lies, especially so close to the tower at the town’s heart.
… When no living creature can speak falsely or fail to answer, a question will be asked. A question that must never, ever be answered…
And the town is called Christmas.
***
They head to the tower, and find the source of the message. It’s a slice of 26th June 2010, the day the universe blew up.
It’s a crack in time.
“The scar tissue remains. A structural weakness in the whole universe,” the Doctor explains. “And someone’s trying to get through it from outside our universe, from somewhere else… If you were trying to break through a wall, you’d choose the weakest spot. If you were trying to break into this universe, you’d choose this crack.”
Handles identified the planet as Gallifrey merely because analysis of the message indicated Gallifreyan origin – and the Doctor’s home isn’t gone; it’s trapped in another universe. He tells Handles to decode the message using an algorithm in the Seal of the High Council of Gallifrey, stolen from the Master in the Death Zone many, many years ago.
The translation, however, will be heard all over the universe; the oldest question in the universe, hidden in plain sight:
Doctor who?
The Doctor realises that the truth field comes from the crack as well. “A question only I could answer,” the Doctor realises. “A truth field to make sure I’m not lying. If I give my name, they’ll know they’ve found the right place and that it’s safe to come through.” And what happens if the Time Lords return? “Hell. All hell…There’s half a universe up there already, waiting to open fire.” He gives Clara something to put into the TARDIS console and she runs off.
Daleks, Cybermen, Sontarans, Silence: everyone has heard the question. Tasha, too, hears the message, and appears as a projection overlooking the Tower.
The Doctor confronts her: “Mother Superious, there is only one thing I need from you. This planet -what’s it called?”
“Trenzalore.”
The TARDIS dematerialises, taking an unwitting Clara far, far away, and the Doctor knows that he must die here.
If the Time Lords return, the Time War begins anew, with the Daleks waiting to burn Trenzalore and all its inhabitants. There’s a new sheriff in town, though, one who won’t leave Christmas or the Time Lords to their potential fate. “Hello, everyone. I’m the Doctor.”
Meanwhile, Tasha and her Mainframe have an unscheduled faith change: “From this moment on, I dedicate this church to one cause. Silence. The Doctor will not speak his name, and war will not begin. Silence will fall!”
Silence will fall.
NEXT: “LIKE BREATH ON A MIRROR.”

Doctor Who Charity Auction for Maggie’s Centres
Alex Skerratt is a writer at Kasterborous Doctor Who News and Reviews - All the latest Doctor Who news and reviews with our weekly podKast, features and interviews, and a long-running forum.
Wallets at the ready, and check your psychic paper at the door – a special Doctor Who charity auction is about to begin!
The 2014 Doctor Who Auction is being run by a chap called Robin Miller, who’s offering fans a chance to bid on a rather impressive collection of gems from the Whoniverse. The items are being auctioned through his own website, with participants being able to make their bids via email or Twitter, with the winning payments being made via PayPal.
But where is all this money going? Well, every penny raised will be sent to a charity called Maggie’s Centres, which provides support for anyone affected by cancer. As Robin puts it: “They have centres full of laughter, where you would expect sadness, and the work they do is just mind-blowing.”
And this is no small-scale endeavour; Robin has already raised over £2400 since he began using his own website to hold auctions, citing word of mouth and social media as the most crucial forms of raising awareness. So, if unlike the Doctor you’re not averse to the Twittersphere, go seek him out and say hi, or maybe even bid on something.
And boy, is there stuff to bid on. Whilst The Tenth Planet Episode 4 might sadly be missing from the assortment, there are many other treasures to whet the appetite of even the most casual Whovian. Standout items include a painting of Jon Pertwee realised (and signed) by none other than Peter Capaldi himself. Robin politely asks people to “bid sensibly” with this one, (I’ll say! How much does a kidney go for these days…?) It’s worth noting that the bidding for this piece ends just after the Twelfth Doctor’s TV debut, so you might want to be swift if you’re considering making a bid.
There is also a wide selection of doodles from various Doctor Who celebrities, signed trading cards, Christmas cards, and autographed pages from shooting scripts. And if, for some bizarre reason, Doctor Who isn’t your thing(!) you can also find items from other cult franchises, such as Harry Potter, Sherlock, Fawlty Towers and even a piece of art from a Beano and Dandy illustrator.
All of the bidding ends on the evening of Sunday 24th August, but there are different times for different items, so take a close look at the website for more specific info. Personally, my favourite ‘lot’ is the complete draft script of Torchwood: Miracle Day by Ciera Payton, (and nobody’s paid me to say this by the way - I just like scripts!) There is also a side from one of The Stolen Earth scripts which caught my eye, as it’s signed by Dalek operator Barnaby Edwards, with biro markings to indicate which polycarbide mutant he’s portraying! Ever wondered which Dalek was Barnaby Edwards and which was Nicholas Pegg? Time to find out…!
If anyone has any questions, or simply wants to make a bid, they can contact Robin via email at twelveby12@yahoo.co.uk, or drop him a line on Twitter (@13challenge.)
Good luck!

Happy Capalday!
Kicking off the celebrations at 02:25 am, it’s The Sarah Jane Adventures episode The Lost Boy: Part One on Watch – for all the insomniacs and drunks!

Come 19:50, come the Twelfth Doctor; it’s the premiere of Deep Breath on BBC1 and BBC 1 HD – buckle yourself in, we’re heading into darkness! You can also watch Peter Capaldi’s first episode in cinemas around the country.
US
Once again, BBC America will be airing an entire series over the course of the day and this time it’s the final series of the Eleventh Doctor – including both The Day of the Doctor and The Time of the Doctor; starting at 03:00 EDT.
Before that begins, there’s just the small matter of who is the ultimate Time Lord? Watch Peter Davison (biased much!) as he attempts to answer that most vexing of questions in Doctor Who: The Ultimate Time Lord at 02:00 EDT.
At 20:00 EDT join Nerdist creator, comedian, and Doctor Who fan and host Chris Hardwick as he celebrates the premiere of Deep Breath with an array of studio guests including Mark Gatiss, in Doctor Who: Live Pre-show.
Then at 20:15 EDT, the main event itself; Deep Breath everyone, its Deep Breath!
If, for some reason, you aren’t watching Deep Breath – maybe you think dinosaurs and Victorian values don’t mix? Perhaps you don’t like ennui (‘I like ennui now, ennui’s cool) but whatever the reason, there’s still plenty of other Doctor Who episodes out there for you to reflect on a simpler time, a time when dinosaurs knew their place.
At 21:00 CDT, there are three episodes to watch across several networks: on Wisconsin Public Television there’s The End of Time: Part Two, over on OETA The Pandorica Opens again for a second night in a row and, finally, on KPTS you can settle into a personal favourite, the first part of the Fourth Doctor serial, Pyramids of Mars.
Using your very own personal time machine i.e. existence; you’ll also be able to catch both The Age of Steel and The Bells of Saint John an hour later at 22:00 CDT on KCPT and Mississippi Public Broadcasting respectively.
How was it? Was it good? Did you like it? These are the kind of questions Chris Hardwick won’t be asking in Doctor Who: After Show Live at 23:00 EDT where he’ll be once again be joined by a host of celebrity guests, which, I’m reliable informed by a previous paragraph, will also feature Mark Gatiss.
However, if you’d rather not join Chris Hardwick, then how about more Doctor Who! Namely, School Reunion and The Idiots’ Lantern at 23:00 CDT over on Iowa Public Television (which will also be showing a 15 minute behind the scenes special on the making of School Reunion afterwards) and KCPT respectively.
Rest of the World
So when will Deep Breath air? In Canada, the main event kicks off at 20:00 EDT on Space, In Australia, Deep Breath airs at 04:50 EST on ABC, in South America, Capaldi’s first episode will air at 17:00 CDT on BBC Entertainment and, in Germany, the episode will air at 21:00 CEST on Fox. However, the episode won’t air in NeW Zealand until Sunday, 31st August at 19:30 on Prime
In an exclusive one-on-one interview showing in Australia on ABC, When they Met the Doctor: Episode Two, where Julia Zemiro meets the incoming Twelfth Doctor, Peter Capaldi. Filmed in Sydney, the interview will explore Peter’s experiences playing this role of such global cultural significance.
In France, the SyFy channel will be airing a mini Torchwood marathon starting at 12:40 CEST with alien impersonator, Adam and ending at with A Day in the Death – featuring the late, great Richard Briers.
BBC Entertainment in Poland will air the documentary Doctor Who Explained at 20:00 CEST while the same channel in Asia will be airing Coming to America, the behind the scenes documentary on The Impossible Astronaut at 12:00 SGT.
Echoing the Central American schedule BBC America in South America will be airing all of Season Seven in the build up to the premiere of Deep Breath – starting at 12:00 CDT
Sunday 24th August
UK
Man, what happened last night?
There’s Sonic Screwdrivers, improbable scarves and enough Doctor Who themed cocktails left over to down a horse scattered everywhere! This recovery will not be swift; so why not ease your passage back to stupid reality with the touching, beautiful, wonderfully performed, impeccably observed, An Adventure in Space and Time – the 50th Anniversary Docudrama penned by Mark Gatiss (who, I’m reliable informed by a pervious paragraph…) airing on BBC 2 at 22:00.
US
And now it’s time for one last bow, like all your other selves. Eleven’s hour is over now, the clock is striking Twelve’s…and then back to Eleven again as KCPT air The Impossible Astronaut at the stroke of midnight, naturally followed by Day of the Moon and The Curse of the Black Spot, on the next two consecutive hours.
Then, by a massive coincidence, we’re back with the Eleventh Doctor on the eleventh hour at 23:00 CDT where WSIU TV in Carbondale, Illinois will air, yes, you guessed it, The Angels Take Manhattan…what, you thought it might be The Eleventh Hour? Ha, if only the universe was that perfect!
Rest of the World
In Latin America, BBC Entertainment will air Doctor Who Greatest Moments in its entirety – giving viewers the chance to re-live the Doctor, his companions and his foes best bits from 09:00 CDT.
Let’s not forget, you can also watch a simulcast of Deep Breath in cinemas around the world. Be sure to check out the Doctor Who website for a comprehensive list of which cinemas close to you will be showing Peter Capaldi’s angry eyes on the big screen.
So how will you be celebrating the arrival of the Twelfth Doctor? Do you have a plan for your day? Will you be attending a con? Will you be having your own Doctor Who party? And will you be watching Chris Hardwick’s live show (which, I’m reliably informed by a previous paragraph…)
Have we missed something? Are you organising something and want to let us know? Have we missed your countries air date? Drop us a comment and let us know!

Better still, you can take part too!
By using Google Hangouts, we can interact with our dear listener, so we’re hoping you may find the time to leave us your thoughts. Those worthy of discussion will be used in the podKast!
This will be our seventh live podKast, a series which began with the reveal of Peter Capaldi as the Doctor last August:
Since then, we’ve managed to get together on Hangouts several times:
So that’s the sort of thing you can expect. Only with a little more polish, we hope!
On Sunday, we plan to discuss Deep Breath, our initial thoughts on Peter Capaldi as the Doctor, how we hope the series will develop and we’ll be inviting your thoughts and comments on Hangouts, through Facebook and Twitter. Based on previous live podKasts, this should work well, and we’re excited to be returning to the live format for this big occasion.
So, to reKap: the podKast Live, discussing Deep Breath, taking place on Google Hangouts (and with a slight delay on YouTube) on Sunday, 3pm UK time, 10am EST. Those of you who prefer to listen can still do so, as we’ll be using the audio from the live podKast for the usual weekly discussion.
We’ll have the link details for you on Kasterborous, Facebook and Twitter, so keep a look out, and don’t miss it!

A Trailer for Doctor Who – The Early Adventures: The Doctor’s Tale!

Just because Doctor Who Series 8 hits screens this weekend doesn’t mean that the rest of the Whoniverse stops! Following the exciting trailer release for Dark Eyes 3 on SoundCloud, Big Finish has announced the release of a trailer for another highly anticipated release, Doctor Who – The Early Adventures: The Doctor’s Tale.
This brand new story featuring the Hartnell Doctor and his companions Vicki, Ian, and Barbara finds them encountering Geoffrey Chaucer!
Here’s what to expect:
England, 1400. Winter. Blood in the snow. Henry IV has usurped the throne, and deposed King Richard II languishes in Pomfret Castle. Meanwhile the Doctor and his companions preside over New Year revels at Sonning Palace. But Sonning is a prison, treachery is in the air and murderous Archbishop Thomas Arundel will stop at nothing to crush the rebellion. As the Doctor and Barbara take the road to Canterbury, Vicki finds a royal friend and Ian is dragged into a dark web of conspiracy at whose heart sits that teller of tales, Geoffrey Chaucer.
Doctor Who – The Early Adventures: The Doctor’s Tale is out in October, but available for pre-order now! What say you, dear reader? Do you fancy a brand new adventure with the First Doctor and TARDIS crew?

Friday News: McGann, Hines, The Pandorica and a Tour Around Glasgow!
Danny_Weasel is a writer at Kasterborous Doctor Who News and Reviews - All the latest Doctor Who news and reviews with our weekly podKast, features and interviews, and a long-running forum.
Today’s newsblast features multiple Doctors in discussion, the opening of a box, Radiophonic Workshop vs The Rolling Stones and a sex scene that will make you wish you didn’t have eyes.
Two Doctors and an Evil Genius
No, I don’t mean the Master! I mean The Moff alongside the Eighth Doctor Paul McGann and his recently discovered successor, John Hurt who recently appeared on stage together at LFCC to stage a rather epic Q&A session that covers everything from McGann’s thoughts about his regeneration, Moffat’s plan to close down the internet (starting with Twitter!) to John Hurt’s thoughts on Whovians and everyone’s musings on new Doctor Capaldi. Yes, even directly answering the question of if either Doctor will get their own spin off!
Team Radiophonic are hitting the road and the vinyl
They may have had there doors closed over 15 years ago but that isn’t stopping the folks from the Radiophonic Workshop, the people who provided not only the shows iconic title track, but also key elements such as the vocal effects for the Daleks and the dematerialization sound of the TARDIS, from getting out there and grabbing that brass ring (and then making it sound like an intergalactic armada is bearing down on you).
The team are currently working on a new album, titled Electricity and can regularly be found as various festivals across the country, and not only that they make they claim that they provide better value than some other acts: “We travel with one lorry and have as much equipment on stage as the Rolling Stones but they have five lorries. I expect four carry clothes, groupies and autographs,” jokes Mark Ayres. But the proof of their talents is in the names of the folks lining up to work with them, including Roxy Music guitarist Phil Manzanera.
The Pandorica is Open… For Business
Some clever so-and-so has gone and done what we have all dreamed of and opened a Doctor Who themed eatery in New York, and cleverly named it The Pandorica!
Boasting everything from Van Gogh’s exploding TARDIS mural to sunflowers on every table, no element has been left out; even the menu includes such items as mini corn dogs, called K-9′s and Madame Pompadour cake. They have even gone on the record as saying they will be adding a crack in the wall!
Highlander becomes Outlander
Former companion and all round legend Fraser Hines has signed on to play a part in the fast rising hit show Outlander. The twist in the tale is that Diana Gabaldon, the author of the Outlander book series, has said that she was inspired to pen the books while watching an episode of Doctor Who featuring Hines as Scottish lad Jamie McCrimmon – hence the inclusion of the character Jamie Fraser perhaps? Hines will be playing the role of Sir Gordon Fletcher, the English warden of Wentworth Prison in Scotland.
The show itself is pretty timey-wimey itself focusing on a world war two combat nurse who time travels to 1743 Scotland, where she falls for a Scottish warrior, think of it was a variation on Goodnight Sweetheart.
Own your own TARDIS
A genuine, original blue police box is going under the hammer at auction and if you happen to have a spare £15,000-£25,000, then this Grade B listed building in Edinburgh could be yours. While aesthetically different to the classic Time ship, this one does come complete with planning permission to turn it into a mini cafe (though it’s not bigger on the inside). Anyone else think that the folks who opened up The Pandoria could be missing a franchise opportunity here?
Take a Tour of the Doctor’s Glasgow
If you take a trip to Glasgow you can now add to your to do list the Doctor Who/Peter Capaldi tour that the city have set up to coincide with the return of the show and promote the city to a new audience.
The tour itself takes in some pretty impressive sights including the riverside mural of the giant Dalek which sits at the bottom of the River Clyde as well as a host of Peter Capaldi’s old haunts like the Charles Rennie Mackintosh Glasgow School of Art where the new Doctor studied graphic design or the high school where a fresh-faced Peter set up his very own Dr Who Fan Club.
Scott Taylor, Chief Executive of Glasgow City Marketing Bureau, commented: “As the nation gears up for Doctor Who mania we wanted to create this guide to showcase Glasgow’s long and warm relationship with all things Whovian.
And Finally, Prepare to Bleach your Eyeballs
A video has appeared that combats the question what is scarier than the Silence, and by God, have they gone above and beyond the call of duty!
This top 10 list includes such nightmares as JNT’s oversized 3D glasses for the EastEnders crossover, Ian Levine and his rants, Mandrels on Wogan and Tom Baker on the shopping channel QVC. But the most disturbing thing – the terror of terrors – is footage from a Reeltime production showing Sixth Doctor Colin Baker and companion Nicola Bryant aka Peri engaging in some steamy action to the dulcet tones of Marvin Gaye.
I may never sleep again.
As always, share your thoughts, rants and confessions below and get your chat on!
