A Very Unspecific Update

I hope everyone has been enjoying summer. I haven’t accomplishedas much as I would have liked to have done. I don’t know what fills the hoursof the day when I’m not looking.

The other night as I was playing Sims 4 on my laptop, filling ina picture in Happy Color, reading a book on my Kindle, and watching television,I thought that perhaps I need to stop trying to do so many things at once. Screensavers are so frustrating!

I’ve been streaming entirely too much Come Dine with Me. So muchso, that I tried to make my own ice cream without an ice cream maker. As withmany recipes, a second try is going to be needed to perfect it. It’s slightlyover churned and similar to whipped cream in texture. This explains why I don’tlike some brands of ice cream with a similar texture.

Lest I have you believe that I’ve completely given up onworking….

I’ve been working on the third book in the Stone Pack series. This is Matt’s book. As further motivation, I’ll try to start updating the wordcount at least once a week. I’m always so eager when I start a book. It’s thelater parts that take forever.

For fans of the Bioexpa series, I do have plans to write more. Ihave ideas for at least two more books already and who knows what ideas will followthose.

I’m still working on other places to sell my books. Setting up newaccounts as a self-published author is a pain. There’s also the matter ofdeciding which books to publish. It seems rather pointless to do the old onesagain, but we’ll see how it goes.

And lastly, I got my dog a new bed. It’s very comfy. I know because it’s large enough for me to curl up on it with her. And my dog can often be seen lying on the floor in front of her bed while the cat lounges on it taking a nap or giving herself a bath.

What I am about to tell you sounds like a scam. Frankly, ...

What I am about to tell you sounds like a scam. Frankly, I wishthat it was. I debated writing about this here at all because it’s not fiction. But I couldn’t stand the thought of another family going through this and if I cansave one person this pain, then it would have been worth it.

When my mom passed away earlier this year at the age of 93, shehad no debt. She lived in her own home, but she did receive assistance fromMedicaid. She had home healthcare workers and she received free supplies suchas adult diapers. A week ago, we received a letter from Medicaid asking forrepayment of almost $400,000 from her estate. Well, if she had that kind of money, she wouldn’t have qualified for Medicaid. In lieu of payment, the government plansto place a lien on her home. The house isn’t worth even half that.

From research, I found that this is actually a method ofrecovery in many states. There were steps the family could have taken prior toher death to prevent this. If you or a loved one are on Medicaid, do yourresearch and find out what you need to do to protect your assets.

Here's an article about this happening to another family: When the State Comes for Your Estate

Audiobooks

I’m happy that most of you seemed to enjoy Anaya & Niall. Asalways after a book release, I worry about, well, everything.

I just dropped by to post a quick bit of news. Amazon made itpossible to sell the audio versions of e-books. I’ve made several of my booksavailable. I only added the audio version for three books at first but addedthat option for several more today. They should be available within a few days.

If I skipped a book that you’d like to purchase in the audio for, please let meknow. For older books, the price for the audio is higher than thee-book because that’s as low as they will allow. Inflation, I guess. Hope you’reenjoying your summer!

Release Day!

Anaya & Niall is out today! It's easy to find on Amazon, but even with a search I couldn't find it on Barnes & Nobles. Fortunately, they sent me a link. For convenience, I'll share them with you.

Amazon

Barnes & Noble

I wanted to include another excerpt, but I've been debating what portion all day. I still haven't made up my mind, but let's give this a go.

His communications slate pinged with an incoming message. His reaction was automatic—he pulled it out of his back pocket and checked the screen.

     Wes glared at him. “Don’t.”

It was too late. “I just need to respond to this message. It’ll only take me a second.”

“What is it this time? Did she misplace her comb?”

Niall shot him a nasty look. “She’s not a nitwit. She wouldn’t message me if it wasn’t important.”

A frown marred Tiffani’s brow. “Is there a problem?”

“No,” he said at the same instant Wes said, “Yes.”

“Can I talk to you in the kitchen for a sec?” Wes asked, with an urgent jerk of his head.

Scowling, Niall stood and followed his brother through the swinging doors to their kitchen. “What?” he snapped, anxious to get this conversation over with and read the message from his boss.

“Can we have one evening when you don’t dash off to brush your boss’s hair?”

“You’re exaggerating. And do you see me going anywhere? I’m simply checking a text.”

Wes crossed his arms over his chest and leaned back against the countertop. “First it starts with a text. Then there’s a phone call. And then another. And then you announce you have to leave.”

He couldn’t deny it. It’d happened before. More than once. “Anaya only contacts me when it’s important.”

“She can’t go a single evening without your help?”

“This is my job,” he pointed out.

“Your job got you dumped.” Wes threw his arms up in the air. “Or have you still not figured that out?”

“Anaya runs a multi-million-dollar company. She built it up from nothing—”

“And you want to fuck her. Jill knew it. We all know it.”

Time for an Excerpt

There are times when I begin a book with an idea and I write down a moment before I forget it. That moment can't be the beginning, but I just love it so much that I can't let it go. For Anaya & Niall this was that moment:

Niall stalked up to hiswife and cupped her delicate face between his hands. “Let’s get somethingstraight. Outside of our home—”

“My house,” she pointed out with raisedeyebrows.

“Our home,” he said firmly. She’d nevermade him feel unwelcome or even as a guest in this house. She was simply beingpetulant. “Outside of our home, I’m your assistant and you can boss mearound, send me to fetch your coffee or tea. But inside this house, we areequals. If I get you coffee or massage your shoulders, it’s because I choose todo so as your husband.” He ran his thumb over her juicy bottom lip. “And in ourbedroom—”

“Now wait just a damn minute. Niall, I—”

“In our bedroom,” he raised his voice, drowning out her objection, “I’m in charge. You’ll do what I say.” He waspushing it, but they’d been heading in this direction from the beginning. Anayanever objected to his dominance in bed. He wasn’t the sort of dominant thatrequired spanking or toys, but he did like to be the one in control. “If I wantto fuck, we fuck. If I ask you to suck my cock, you swallow. If I want to lickyour pussy, you’ll spread your legs with a smile.” He stepped closer until hecould feel her breasts brush against his chest with each of her rapidly indrawnbreaths. Her dark eyes blazed up at him, partly with fury, but passion lurkedin the brown depths. His hands dropped from her face. He slapped her on herplump bottom. “Now take off your clothes and get in our bed. I’m in the mood toride my wife’s pussy.” She jumped a little at the tap to her behind. Her mouthopened and closed but no words emerged. Finally, she nodded and scampered offtoward their bedroom. A grin stretched Niall’s lips.

Finished!

I finally, finally finished my next Bioexpa book. I’m not thefastest writer. I notice some other authors come out with a book a month (andsometimes more!). I don’t know how they do it. But for the first time, I didn’thave a book release last year and I feel like an explanation is needed. Especiallysince I announced that I was almost done last August. And I was.

I’ve been staying with my mother. She had dementia thatprogressed to the point that she could not be left home alone. Writing hastaken a backseat the last couple of years. She passed away this February aftera brief illness. She was blessed to live for ninety-three years, yet it stillseems unbelievable that she’s gone.

The next Bioexpa book will be called Anaya & Niall. It stillneeds to be edited, but I’ll post excerpts and a publication date soon.

Almost Finished

I could have sworn that I’d posted earlier this year. Though I’vetried to update word numbers regularly, I neglected to look at the front page. Imaginemy surprise when I checked in today to see that I hadn’t posted since lastyear! I’d composed a message to post in February, but somehow never managed toactually post it.

So, here’s basically what I thought I’d said in February:

“I’ve been working slowly, but steadily on my next Bioexpa book.I’d hoped to have it finished last year. I’m happy to say that it’s not farfrom finished. I’ve been updating word numbers on the Works in Progress tab atleast monthly. Which is more than I can say for the Books tab which I am againthinking of removing altogether.”

The editing book numbers was hit or miss. I am about fifteen hundredwords or so from finishing that Bioexpa book. I’m close to the end. After theconclusion, I’ll probably wander around for a few days deciding on how to wordthe epilogue. Then I’ll get to my edits. I’m already looking at cover options.

For anyone reading this, I want to thank you for your patienceand for sticking with me while I struggle with becoming more productive.

Apropos to Nothing but maybe warm fuzzies....

The other night I was watching television when I heard a thudoutside. At first, I thought someone was playing their music too loudly as theypassed our house. But I got up to peep out the window. In the darkness, I couldsee two cars parked just past our driveway and not far from our driveway, acrumpled figure in the road. I couldn’t tell if it was a dog, a fox, or a deer.It could even have been something that dropped off the back of a truck. Ididn’t know.

Once those cars drove away, the headlights of the next passingcar illuminated the deer in the road. It was still alive! We live on a road withno commercial businesses, but lots of homes and no small amount of traffic. While I wanted to run out there and assist the deer before it could get hitagain, I didn’t want to get hit as happened recently to a motorist during broaddaylight as he tried to assist a fellow driver. Also, while it wasn't a full grown male deer, I didn't know it's weight. And deer are wild animals.

Not knowing who to call, I did a search on my phone. I wasseconds away from calling the police, when I looked out the door and saw thatthe deer was on its feet! One of my neighbors was attempting to turn into herdriveway, but it was blocked by the deer. Another car came behind her and as sooften happens this person was less patient and drove around her. The poor deerwas literally frozen in headlights. But the second driver blew their horn andthe deer scampered off. It ran up our driveway, across our front yard, and intothe woods.

It was the most joyous moment I’ve experienced in far too long and I wanted to share it with all of you.

A Long Overdue Thank You

I want to thank everyone who took the time to write a review for Her Perfect Mate, but I especially want to thank those of you who mentioned that Missy does not have blue eyes. It’d really been worrying me, and I cannot express how much I appreciate you for your reviews.

I’ve been meaning to post this thank you for months, but I’ve been working on the next Bioexpa book in an attempt to be more productive this year. There just don’t seem to be enough hours in the day. Plus, I admit, I am easily distracted.

Work on the next Bioexpa book is going well. I’ve set a very attainable goal of 100 words a day. I miss it on busy days, but most days I surpass it. The hardest part is starting at all. Setting a small goal is my way to get going. It’s less intimidating than saying I’m going to write two thousand words today—which on a good day, I can totally achieve. But not achieving a larger goal day after day just wrecks me. It’s hard enough looking at the reminder I have up to wash my hairbrushes but somehow keep forgetting to do anyway. This is the most I’ve thought about it since I put that note up five days ago.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer. I would say that I’m going to go wash those hairbrushes, but I think all know that’s not going to happen tonight.
