I can understand the mixed reviews for this book. Yes, it's long. Yes, it's a slow burn. Yes, the timelines bounce around. But I loved the slower pace, the deep dive into the characters, and the moody setting.

The writing was especially so well done.

Bonnie Garmus
“Whenever you feel afraid, just remember. Courage is the root of change - and change is what we're chemically designed to do. So when you wake up tomorrow, make this pledge. No more holding yourself back. No more subscribing to others' opinions of what you can and cannot achieve. And no more allowing anyone to pigeonhole you into useless categories of sex, race, economic status, and religion. Do not allow your talents to lie dormant, ladies. Design your own future. When you go home today, ask yourself what YOU will change. And then get started.”
Bonnie Garmus, Lessons in Chemistry

Ann Napolitano
“Opportunity did not knock until I built the door.”
Ann Napolitano, Hello Beautiful

Suzanne Collins
“And that’s part of our trouble. Thinking things are inevitable. Not believing change is possible.”
Suzanne Collins, Sunrise on the Reaping

Gretchen Rubin
“What you do every day matters more than what you do once in a while.”
Gretchen Rubin, The Happiness Project

Gretchen Rubin
“One of the best ways to make yourself happy is to make other people happy. One of the best ways to make other people happy is to be happy yourself.”
Gretchen Rubin, The Happiness Project
