Powered by Ghosts released.

Powered by Ghosts (Necromancer #2) by Kaje Harper Powered by Ghosts - the second book in my Necromancer series - is now available on Amazon, Smashwords and soon on other ebook retailers. (And Yay, AZ got the cover on the page with just hours to spare 🙂 )

***
An untrained sorcerer and a reclusive necromancer face a ghost-infested town.

Darien is free of his dead invaders, and his eyes have opened to a new reality. In a world of sorcerers and necromancers, he's full of power and potential, but completely ignorant. Necromancer Silas, and Silas's cat familiar, Grim, are teaching him basic skills, but danger won't hold off, just because he's not ready.

Silas never planned to share his life with anyone, but after a week of shared battles and shared nights, Darien has become a fixture in his home. Silas has never met anyone with more raw magical ability, or less idea what to do with it. When Silas is offered a job hunting ghosts, he's tempted to refill his depleted bank account, but reluctant to bring untrained Darien along. Darien's eager to help, though, and eventually Silas gives in. It's just a few ghosts. Nothing he hasn't handled before. What could go wrong?

***
I hope you enjoy the further adventures of Darien, Silas, and cat-familiar Grim.

Powered by Ghosts preorder

Powered by Ghosts is up for preorder on both Smashwords and Amazon. It's been up on Amazon for a while, but they are apparently having a glitch where some preorder books are not showing the cover on the book detail page. I've given up on waiting for them to fix it before this promo so just know, the cover is up on the book (AZ assures me it looks fine). And as you see, it has Grim on it, as he insisted, although perhaps not the pose he requested.

Parting ways and new editions

I want to say thank you and goodbye to my time with MLR Press, my publisher for some of my books for the last almost 10 years. They were the ones who took a chance on my very first story, and I have been grateful for their support for my writing. I'm sure they will continue to do well for other authors.

In this crazy COVID year, things worked out best for us to part ways. If you are looking for any of my Life Lessons or Hidden Wolves Unacceptable Risk books, they will be unavailable until into early 2021 (other than residual paper copies).

But I do hope to bring them out in new editions then, along with a 5th Hidden Wolves story that is already written, and hopefully audio for Life Lessons.

It's always hard closing a chapter and opening a new one. With this change, I'm completely indie, except for my books in translation. That's both exciting and scary.

I wish MLR all the best going forward. I would not be here writing for you without them.

Marked by Death released

Marked by Death is now available - currently free on Smashwords in all formats (including an uploaded mobi) and .99 on Amazon - they haven't price matched yet.

I hope people like this polished and edited version of the guys who started their journey on my FB group <3

Smashwords: https://www.smashwords.com/books/view...
Amazon US: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08LSFRV3H/

Asking a necromancer for help is scary; falling for him may be downright terrifying.

Darien Green's afraid he's going insane. The voices in his head are getting louder, weirder, and more numerous. But tattoos appearing on his skin say that there might be a magical reason, something other than his own brain going around the bend. He's worked up the nerve to ask the local necromancer for help. Now he just has to survive his encounter with tall, dark, and talks-to-ghosts.

Necromancer Silas Thornwood doesn't appreciate being woken out of his bed by a stranger pounding on his door. But when that stranger turns out to be a half-frozen young man with an unexpected appeal, Silas can't turn him away. Even Grim, his cat-familiar, agrees— in a world of death and demons, protecting gorgeous, ghost-ridden Darien is Silas's next difficult job.

Joyfully Jay's Reading Challenge & prizes month

Do you like to read books? Do you like to win books? (Including bundles of a dozen books, or a Kindle Paperwhite?)

The blog Joyfully Jay's Reading Challenge Month started yesterday, Sunday, and runs through Saturday, October 3.

Each week, for four weeks, they have a different reading challenge. Their reviewers will be reading various books that meet the challenge, and then the readers can join along in two ways. First, for each comment they post on a challenge review, they get one contest entry. If they read their own challenge book and write a mini review, they get ten entries.

I donated a reader's choice ebook for the first week prizes - Self Published Book Week - and so did enough other authors that there are ten prizes of a dozen books each, just for that week.

Check out all details and join in on the blog:

A Tracefinder excerpt and giveaway

Tracefinder Choices (Tracefinder, #3) by Kaje Harper I had the chance today to post about writing this series, and put up a small excerpt from Tracefinder: Choices on "My Fiction Nook" - Sandra didn't have anyone up on the series to review book 3, but generously offered me a slot instead. I've been really lucky with how supportive many of the reviewers and bloggers are for my work. There's also a Rafflecopter giveaway for ebook copies of the whole trilogy.

M/M Prizes

For those who are members of the M/M Romance Group don't forget that today begins the week of the Anniversary Celebration with games and a vault full of prizes to be won, including books and gift cards.

You can find all the fun and games, and chances to win, here (And at the end of the week if you played and didn't win, there are often prizes left to be claimed.)

https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group...

There are games like Morphed Covers, Guess the Title, Spot the Difference...

My favorite game, just for the fun of it, is the Haiku, Limerick, Acrostic & Nursery Rhyme Contest - where we get a daily theme or three and get to improv on it.

It's just for fun (This was my limerick one year, when a theme was tattoos - clearly not serious)
.
He'd decided to get a tattoo
Thought "Endurance" a word that might do
But his courage ran short
He was forced to abort
Now has "End" on his butt in bright blue.
.

Check it out. (You do have to join the group to see the threads - 18+ only.)
