Undeniable Bonds released

I'm delighted to get this NEW 6th book in the Hidden Wolves series out to readers. Undeniable Bonds is now available. And I'm grateful for all the readers who started with my Hidden Wolves many years ago, and who are following me into this new, delayed, final installment to the journey. There's no bigger compliment to an author than people coming back to a series after years away, eager to read a new story. (You can find buy links here - https://books2read.com/u/3LRQy0)

It was fun getting back into Aaron's head again, and watching Zach snark at him and stand up to him, pushing limits but not crossing them. And with the lifespan of my wolves, I got to write a pair of men - Rory and Nikolai - who met in WWII and were pushed apart by war and circumstances, meeting again at long last. As various human factions threaten wolves around the world, my guys fight to make a safe place for their packs and their loved ones. And to find room in the homophobic wolf world for change and acceptance, and love.

I hope readers will enjoy spending time once again with my Hidden Wolves in this conclusion to the series.

Pubiversary. 10 years!! Giveaway.

Hi folks, Tomorrow (May 1) is the 10-year anniversary of when Life Lessons released. (Lies and Consequences did come out first, but Life Lessons was accepted first and had the full release - Amazon, paper, a cover not cobbled together on my own photoshop... LOL.)

10 years. Wow. It feels like just a little while ago, and yet I can't recall how things worked when I didn't have the M/M community and my Goodreads YA group as part of my daily life.

To celebrate I'm having a party on my Facebook group - Kaje's Conversation Corner featuring all the authors who have been members there. It's a great list of folks, and I'm doing book reviews for each of them today (most reviews also on Goodreads) and then tomorrow there will be giveaways and freebies.

If you'd like to join us, you can find the group here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/20820...

For those who don't do Facebook, thank you for reading my books; I came to Goodreads years before I ever did FB and this is my book-home. You can find me here pretty much every day.

And to join in the fun, I'll do a drawing here on this Goodreads post (below) for a free backlist ebook of mine. I'll pick 3 winners from the comments below after midnight May 3rd and PM you.

Tell me which book of mine you read first, or like most, or how you found Goodreads (I followed a review of Life Lessons here.)

Thanks to everyone who has shared my writing journey so far.

Unsafe Exposure released, and an excerpt

It's a great feeling to have all the Hidden Wolves original series back out, paving the way for the coming new book 6. Unsafe Exposure - Book 5 is now available at all vendors (except Apple, which is slow for some reason.)

**Find your copy via the Universal link **

Nothing wrecks a guy's day like finding out he's a werewolf.

From the moment artist Dylan Shore arrives in Chicago, his life gets twisted like a kaleidoscope. Why does a street gang he's never met before want him dead? Why is a hot but odd mathematician stalking him? And how can half the things Alex Corwin says possibly be true, no matter how honest he seems?

Alex has a frightening dilemma. Dylan is attractive, appealing, out and proud. He's also completely unaware that he's a werewolf. It shouldn't be Alex's job to tell him, and warn him that gay wolves usually end up dead. But someone has to, before he finds out in blood and violence.

Chicago's not Alex's hometown, but somehow he needs to protect Dylan from the local packs, protect the wolves from being outed by Dylan, and keep his cool around the first man to touch his own deeply-closeted heart.

(This is a lightly edited rerelease of the 2016 original.)

Excerpt:

Alex Corwin cast sidelong glances at the young man in his passenger seat as he drove. He tried not to be obvious about it, but his mind was racing.
Dylan was a werewolf. There was no doubt in Alex’s mind about that. Kin knows kin. Body language, gait and speed, the scent of skin and blood, all told the tale clearly to his wolf senses.

He’d seen four pack youngsters in full cry after another wolf. He’d assumed their quarry was another of their own pack and he’d have driven on by, but Dylan had glanced over with a look of terrified appeal just as Alex drew level. He’d found himself slowing and opening the window.

He didn’t regret it. Hell, he defied anyone to intercept that look from those startling deep-blue eyes and not want to help. But he had to wonder what kind of mess he was getting himself into. Because unless this guy was the best liar Alex had ever met, Dylan apparently didn’t know he was a werewolf.

Alex had never met anyone, or even heard of anyone, lost to himself that way. It was possible, in theory, but werewolves moved heaven and earth to keep young wolf boys with their fathers, or in case of disaster with some other male relative. Techniques ran as far as blackmail and kidnapping if need be. Boys just did not leave the safety of the pack. But Dylan obviously had, and very young.

Unless he was better at telling lies than Alex could ever hope to be. “I know it’s kind of personal,” he said tentatively, “but how old are you?”

“Twenty-four. Why?”

Alex shrugged. “Just curious.” That was about the age he looked, too. Most wolves at twenty-four would look seventeen or eighteen and still have a hard time getting served in bars. Dylan looked good… mature, adult. And his wolf scent was oddly muted and hard to detect. Maybe Alex was wrong. Except he wasn’t.

“How old are you?” Dylan returned.

Thirty-eight. Which he couldn’t say, because he did look much younger. He still got carded. “Older,” he said. “But not a lot.” At least not in dog years. He had a hard time lying to another wolf but that was close enough to truth. “So, you’re here to visit your sister? Surely classes haven’t started for freshmen?”

“No. She came early. For her, um, visa stuff.” Something about the way Dylan ducked his head made that seem like a lie, but Alex didn’t want to push.

“Ah.” Canadian. Was there a pack in Montreal? “You’re from Quebec?”

“Pronounced kay-bek,” Dylan said. “Yeah.”

“So you speak French?”

“As my second language. Mais, oui.”

“I take it that means yes,” Alex said.

“I take it you don’t.”

“Not hardly.” Alex smiled. “Only what I learned from classic rock songs. Michelle, ma belle, and Voulez-vous coucher avec moi, ce soir?”

“Now there’s a useful phrase. Something to be said for a classical education.” Dylan’s guarded look turned warm and teasing for a moment. “You know what it means?”

“Yep. All I need to know for my next trip to Paris.”

“Or Montreal.”

Alex felt a flush of warmth and an unfamiliar lift to his heart. Crazy. It totally made no sense to suddenly imagine meeting up with someone like Dylan on the anonymous streets of Montreal and trotting out his one French phrase. Do you want to sleep with me tonight? He’d never actually said that to anyone. He couldn’t imagine he ever would…

~~~ find out how Dylan discovers his own nature and Alex discovers love, while running for their lives, in Unsafe Exposure.
Unsafe Exposure available for preorder
I'm delighted to say that the 5th (and last rerelease) Hidden Wolves book - Unsafe Exposure - is now up for preorder on Amazon (and soon elsewhere.) Release date is April 27th. (The new book 6 will release June 1.)
I love this new cover. It's different from the last, but Alex is a very different wolf from Brandt. Alex is Fourteenth in his pack, submissive, and happy to stay unnoticed. When he spots Dylan running from four pack youngsters, and pulls over to help, he has no idea that the chance meeting with a man who doesn't realize he's a werewolf will catapult him into life-and-death politics. But Alex, no matter how retiring he is, has a core of integrity that means he'll do the right thing, no matter what it costs him.
Unjustified Claims released
I'm delighted to have Unjustified Claims back out for readers, with what may be my favorite cover for the Hidden Wolves series so far. I hope you enjoy meeting Brandt, a young man driven from his werewolf pack for his kinks and desires, who meets up with a man he could care about. If only he didn't have to hide half his own nature, and face threats from human vandals and his homophobic pack.
You can find Unjustified Claims at:
Amazon US
Universal link
This series needs to be read in order, so if you haven't met my Hidden Wolves yet, start with Unacceptable Risk - Book 1. (Universal Link for Unacceptable Risk) The new release is Book 4 (was 3 in the old series numbering.) I hope to have Book 5 out by the end of the month, and then the fun of releasing the all-new Book 6 - Undeniable Bonds. I hope you enjoy following the wolves through their coming out journey.
Here's an Excerpt from Unjustified Claims:
Ethan Sjulstad had been in scary situations before. But lying on the forest floor, miles from the nearest doctor, with a skewered, bleeding, throbbing, messed-up leg was definitely top of the list. Ex-skewered leg, at least, thanks to the gorgeous naked guy crouching ten feet away. If that was really what was happening, because despite the pain in his thigh and the nausea and the smell of mud and blood and pine needles, Ethan was half-convinced he was dreaming. Or maybe hallucinating.
He’d only had a second’s warning, a hint of instability, before the edge of the ridge gave way under him. He’d plunged into a jumble of falling, a vicious pain in his leg and his head, dizziness and fear. And then giant wolves and naked dark-haired men, which was where the probably hallucinating part came in.
He slid his hand down his thigh and pressed there, slightly reassured of reality by the intense pain that arrowed through his leg. The unlikely vision in front of him didn’t change, though.
The guy who called himself Brandt was tall and fit, his skin golden and unblemished, his shoulders wide, his arms as strong looking as they’d felt. His features were regular, but not extraordinary; his mouth was a little big, his dark eyes shadowed by heavy brows. And he was definitely naked, in the middle of the BWCA wilderness, and amazingly unselfconscious about it.
For a moment, Ethan let himself imagine Brandt as some kind of woodland god, naked in the primordial forest. Then Brandt swore under his breath and bent to pull a thorny twig from the sole of one foot, and the illusion was broken. Woodland gods didn’t usually say fuck. Unless they were talking to a dryad or… Ethan blinked, wondering if maybe he’d done more damage to his head than he realized. Brandt flicked the thorn aside and gave him an embarrassed look. “Hate pricker-bushes.”
“Yeah. Me too.” The air of unreality hovered. The throbbing of his leg combined with the pounding in his head to make it difficult to think. Ethan searched fuzzily for something else to say. Godling, madman, or hallucination, he still didn’t want to be left alone out here. “Come here often?”
Brandt laughed. The man had a good laugh, warm and sane. It sounded real. “No. And definitely not naked.”
Unjustified Claims available for preorder
Hey folks, how about this new cover with Brandt? 😃 Unjustified Claims - Book 4 of Hidden Wolves - is now available for preorder on Amazon and via Smashwords on other retailers soon. Re-release date is April 6th.
His pack would've killed him for his kinks and desires, but his human lover might destroy his wolf.
Brandt Davis loved being part of his Michigan werewolf pack, until they found his stash of gay porn. He escaped their anger, running in wolf-form into the wilderness, but he can’t live that way forever. And he can’t hide in fur like a coward when an injured man needs his help.
Ethan Sjulstad knows life is making him crazy when a solo hike into the Minnesota Boundary Waters seems reasonable. Then a bad fall leaves him seriously hurt and facing death. Delirious, he hallucinates being rescued by a big gray wolf and a naked woodland godling. For a man who has always loved fantasy, it's worth surviving just to find out what the hell is going on.
(This is a lightly edited rerelease of the 2014 original.)
Unwanted Appeal released
I'm delighted to have Unwanted Appeal - Hidden Wolves book 3 back out for readers and on Amazon for the first time. (This 34K novella was not done through MLR, so contracts kept it from being on AZ before.)
Amazon US link - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08Y76J2MT
Smashwords all formats link - https://www.smashwords.com/books/view...
(I also sent the NEW book 6 - Undeniable Bonds - off to my editor, still on track for a possible end of May release.)
I hope new readers who enjoyed meeting Aaron and Zach in book 2 will like another look at Aaron trying to protect his pack and his mate, balancing his compassion for other gay wolves against the safety of the people he loves. And you'll get Zach's POV, as he keeps his Alpha and mate from taking life too seriously and austerely. This rerelease is a light reedit, so if you have the old version you don't need the new one.
Chapter 1
Aaron, Alpha of the Minneapolis West Pack, stood at the upper window of the farmhouse and surveyed his domain. He laughed silently at himself for thinking of the landscape that way, but that didn't change the feeling. Out there was a stretch of wooded land in his name and a group of men who bowed their heads at his command. Maybe a touch ironically on Lucas’s and Simon's parts, but still. His pack, his place.
He'd never imagined this, in his childhood under the skies of Wyoming. Or in his tiny room in San Francisco. Or even when he was running silent and controlled, keeping his head down as Sixth in Gordon's pack. Yet here he was and, he felt in his bones, here he belonged. After so many fresh starts, this was the life they'd have to pry out of his cold, dead hands.
The slightly uneven footsteps behind him were part of that. He didn't turn as Zach came up at his back and stood close against his shoulder. If they'd been really alone, instead of silhouetted in a window, Zach might have stretched enough to put his chin on Aaron's shoulder, but downstairs the rest of the pack was gathering. Voices carried from the room below, and another SUV pulled up into the space in front of the farmhouse.
Aaron narrowed his eyes. The ground was really getting churned to mud out there. He'd have to order another load of gravel and decide who needed to be put to work spreading rocks.
Zach said by his ear, on a faint breath that wouldn't carry, “Pumping up your boss man ego?”
With his left hand, which would be completely hidden from the window, Aaron reached back and grabbed Zach through his jeans, in a grip just hard enough to make him yip. “You think I need to?”
“No, Alpha. Never. You're the ultimate boss man at all times.” Zach's voice, still a whisper, shook just a little. Probably with amusement, but over their Alpha bond, Aaron could feel a spark of desire in Zach too.
“And don't forget it.” He let go, with a little pat of promise for later.
“Seriously, doesn't it chuff you a bit to have eleven grown men show up at your beck and call?”
“Chuff? Are you reading that British Doctor Who fiction online again?”
“And who showed me where to find it?” Zach sobered. “The Alphas finally finished voting, huh?” He hesitated. “They didn't choose you for the Council after all, did they?”
Aaron laughed. “When pigs fly. Can you imagine? Alphas actually voting for the leader of the heretical gay pack as one of their policy makers? Hah.” For once, that was almost a good thing. He had no desire whatsoever to be on the Council. “I'm amazed they got enough of a consensus to elect anyone.”
“Did some of them refuse to vote?”
“A few. Not many. The only thing worse than voting for someone who might command them, would be letting the other Alphas make the decision without them.”
Zach muttered, “I can imagine.”…
...
* Aaron's vision of increasing gay tolerance in the packs may yet come true, but until it does, the werewolf world is still hostile. He'll have outside strays and stragglers bringing asylum requests and trouble to the Minneapolis West Pack, as he deals with his pack's Unwanted Appeal. Luckily, he also has Zach to lighten the load, and brighten his life.
Book 4 - Unjustified Claims will re-release April 6th.
Unexpected Demands released
Unexpected Demands - Hidden Wolves book 2 - is now available in bookstores.
I had a lot of fun revisiting Aaron, new Alpha of Minneapolis West, as he tries to juggle a damaged and reformed pack of werewolves, threats from wolves outside his pack, human dangers on the hunt... and an attraction to a young man he's trying very hard to ignore. (Not to mention the pretty cover with Zach :) )
.
.
He'd rather fight enemy wolves and rogue humans than face his own heart.
When Aaron took down a violent, power-crazed wolf and inherited half a pack, he knew being Alpha wasn't going to be easy. A week later, he's finding out what an understatement that was. Other werewolves are calling for the extermination of his pack's gay wolf, or for Aaron's own death, and the risk of exposure to humans is growing.
Aaron can't afford to let his long-suppressed sexuality escape his rigid control. When one of his younger wolves is in trouble, it's simply Aaron's job as Alpha to help and protect him. But keeping a cool distance from a young man who appeals to all his senses could be Aaron's toughest challenge.
(This is a rerelease of the 2012 original with light editing. Minor content warning for substance abuse, some violence.)
