I'm an author and a reader. I write dark thrillers - Peril, The Baptist, The Crucible - and read thrillers and literary fiction.

I've pedalled the pushbike of life until the chain fell off. Now living in rural Ireland where the natives are friendly and the weather atrocious, I write crime fiction and thrillers.

Ruby's News is my mail list with freebies, pre-release info and other updates. As a welcome gift each new subscriber can choose a free e-copy of one of my books in their format of choice (epub, mobi, pdf). Go to my blog or http://eepurl.com/iNvvP to subscribe.

Ruby reviews "Still Life" by Sarah Winman

So here’s a title my wife’s book club had on the go and I grabbed it for a quick look. Still Lifeby Sarah Winman. On the face of it I shouldn’t like this novel – Mrs R’s book club tastes seldom coincide with mine, it talks a lot about classical art and seemed to be a bit of an epic – but Mrs R said try it and so I did.

What a great read. I was captivated from start to finish. Read the entir

Ruby Barnes I'm running a Goodreads giveaway of 1 copy of Peril, a crime thriller.

Peril by Ruby Barnes

Peril is the story of Gerard Mayes, an anti-hero. Men want to be him, women want to redeem him. Ger's story is fiction, but his origins are real - everyday folk living and working in a Dublin city center wracked with organised begging, drug addicts, and violent crime. It's not all leprechauns and shillelaghs in Ireland.

Ger is a slacker. A consumer. He thinks life owes him, takes what he can and goes with the flow. His perspective on life, like that of another famous slacker The Big Lebowski, is sometimes humorous, but the story takes a noir turn when Ger kills a mugger and is held to account for it. All things move toward their end, of that you can be sure.

Contains occasional strong language and peril.

You can enter the giveaway here:

Cheers
Ruby
