Parents hoping to keep their kids entertained during the school break, do not have to look far for ideas and options.
At Resorts World Genting, plenty of activities are in store in the next two months that will keep vacationers, whether young or old, happy particularly the Genting International Children’s Festival 2017, and Soul of Shaolin, a critically acclaimed theatrical event that has toured the world in order to showcase the magnificence of Shaolin kung fu warriors.
To be held from 27 May to 11 June 2017, the resort-wide Genting International Children’s Festival 2017 carries the tagline, art, dance and music, and is set to be a visual feast where guests can enjoy soaking up the carnival atmosphere. Everyone can look forward to great hospitality and conviviality at the various locations of the resort where activities scheduled for the festival are held.
Three activities that will take place at SkyAvenue are:
Cheers & Pom: Cheerleading, to be held at Level 1 of the mall
Storyland: Cosplay Meet & Greet at Level 2

Two other activities are Paradise: Forest Fairies Ballet Dance, to be held at First World Rainforest, and Boulevard’s Parade at Genting Grand Open Car Park.
As evident, the Genting International Children’s Festival promises varietythere is something for everyonefrom cheerleading to cosplaying to ballet.
No doubt kids will love watching the handsprings, and tumbling and twisting skills of the cheerleaders who will light up the atmosphere at Level 1 of SkyAvenue during Cheers & Pom. This is a must-see event for those who enjoy watching the superior dexterity of graceful cheerleaders.
Another wonderful sight awaits at Paradise: Forest Fairies Ballet Dance where pretty ballerinas will whirl and twirl away as they entertain visitors in this land of make-believe. Surely there is nothing cuter than the sight of young people in colourful dance skirts and tutus.
People-watching should also be an enjoyable activity at Storyland: Cosplay Meet & Greet; where cosplayers will have a field day dressing up as their favourite characters, while Street
Beats: Brass Ensemble promises fun in musicstreet musicians playing drums, trombones, and trumpets, among others.
The holiday period is likewise celebrated with pomp and gaiety at Boulevard’s Parade at the Open Car Park of Genting Grand. Just basking in this festive atmosphere alone would make an excellent activity for the whole family.

Dome’s Cafe SkyAvenue, Resorts World Genting
Fancy chilling with your loved ones over a cuppa tea at 6,000 feet above sea level in Resorts World Genting? Well, there’s a few nice cafes in Resorts World Genting for you to hop over, but if you are looking for a quiet place that serves not only good coffee and tea but great food as well, here’s one I can recommend; Dome’s Cafe.
Dome’s Cafe is located at Level 1, SkyAvenue in Resorts World Genting.
The place have quite a quiet charm with rustic interior, making it great for a quiet meal with family or a business date.
Here’s some of the things I had with my son on our most recent visit; Mushroom Soup, Minestrone Soup, Tuscan Pizza, Gourmet Chicken Pie, Berry Bliss and Coke Float. All of these are our host’s recommendations.
Mushroom soup is one of my all time favourite and the one in Dome’s Cafe does not disappoint. Served with a side of garlic bread, the creamy goodness was really satisfying and comforting on the tummy.
Minestrone soup was very filling and has the flavours of home. Small eaters may find this a satisfying meal on it’s own. A recommended order should you want something comforting to eat.
Tuscan Pizza is thin crusted and topped mainly with olives, pepperoni and mozerella cheese. If you are a pizza fan, you’ll definitely find this addictive.
Gourmet Chicken Pie was to die for. The pastry was buttery and flaky while the filling was rich and creamy. This savoury pie is definitely a winner and was my favourite that day.
Coke Float was something that’s available from the kid’s menu, but nobody says you can’t indulge on this.
Berry Bliss smoothies is a perfect drink to cleanse your palate with. It’s sweet with hints of sourness to it.
I’ve patronized the cafe twice as of writing. Once with my parents when they were newly opened and the second time was during Mother’s Day, as Dome’s Cafe invited guest. Different experience both times as I went as a paying customer during the first time and the second time as an invited guest, but if there’s thing that remains the same is that the food was still wonderful and the service was still.swift and superb. Definitely becoming one of my favourite lurk in SkyAvenue, Resorts World Genting.

Memorable Mother’s Day 2017 at Resorts World Genting
Many condemn me for not being a good mother including ‘friends’ and relatives. I was once accused abusive by my husband’s friends as I’m very strict with my son. I was told to send my son to my mother in law to raise by these people because they thought I’m haven’t been doing a good job. I’m often accused of not feeding my son well as he doesn’t grow sideways and I was told in my face that I haven’t been teaching him well because he have social and communication issue as he is on the autism spectrum.
People always try to teach me how to ‘be a good mum’ by telling me what to do, but not many aknowledge me as a mother, including my family and relatives. I’ve been a mother for more than a decade as of writing. But while every other mothers receive gifts, treats, and even greetings as a token of appreciation during mother’s day all these while, I don’t. My husband grew up in a rather rigid and traditional Chinese family and is not much on celebrating such occasion while my son, well, he’s on autism spectrum and so despite his age, doesn’t really grasps the concept of Mother’s Day although he loves me very much.
Getting immune with the lack of appreciation as a mother all these while, I wasn’t expecting much on Mother’s Day 2017. After all, what special thing could happen and who would suddenly recognize me as a good mother anyway? But much to my surprise, I received an invitation as a mother to celebrate mother’s day in Resorts World Genting this year with other influencers who are mother themselves or son and daughters who are bringing their elderly mothers.
This may not sound much to some, but it means alot to me, as at least in the eyes of others, I am a mother too. It is really nice to be appreciated instead of being judged and condemned all the time.
And so, I said yes to the invitation and brought my son along with me for a fun mum and son day out on Mother’s Day in Resorts World Genting.
Our day started pretty early. We departed from Wisma Genting, Kuala Lumpur in the morning to the foot of the hill; Awana Skyway where we board the new glass floor gondola for a direct trip up to the new SkyAvenue Skyway Station.
Here’s us with other influencers at Awana Station while queing up for the glass floor gondola.
It doesn’t take long for us to board the glass floor gondola, and the journey from Awana Skyway to the SkyAvenue station merely takes about 10 minutes ride. I wish it takes longer though. The view from the glass floor gondola is magnificent.
Can’t help myself. So here’s a selfie in the glass floor gondola
With son in the glass floor gondola with foresty background.
Another photo of us in the glass floor gondola.
Touching down SkyAvenue station, it was already noon and time for lunch. As per our invitation, we head over to Dome’s Cafe for lunch.
This is my second time patronizing Dome’s Cafe at SkyAvenue. They have extensive items being offered on the menu and the food are really nice, but I wasn’t really decisive that day so I asked our host for some recommendation instead.
And here’s what recommended to us for lunch; Mushroom Soup, Minestrone Soup, Tuscan Pizza, Gourmet Chicken Pie, Berry Bliss and Coke Float. More about our dining experience at Dome’s Cafe HERE.
There were plenty of interesting activities in SkyAvenue, Resorts World Genting during Mother’s Day. And here’s one of the unforgettable one, Mother’s Day flashmob at SkyAvenue.
Mother’s Day 2017 Flashmob at SkyAvenue, Resorts World Genting
Uploaded by K Network Media on 2017-05-17.
Watch the video. Flashmob dancers actually invited the onlookers to dance along with them before presenting flowers to mothers who were present that day.
As part of their CSR program, Resorts World Genting has also invited single mothers from Raub and their children for a fun day out at Resorts World Genting on Mother’s Day. The single mothers and the children were treated to a sumptuos steamboat meal at Resort Seafood and fun time in SnowWorld before they were given hampers as a token of appreciation.
Come teatime, all of us were given a list of outlets at SkyAvenue where we can redeem our teatime snacks at.There were a total 6 of them. Gindaco, Madame Waffle, Inside Scoop, Just Heavenly, Tokyo Secret and Gong Cha. I was really happy when I looked through the list. Looks pretty much like a mini food trail, and being a foodie, I was really excited quickly made my way to the first outlet.
Gindaco was our first stop. Gindaco is a snack counter that sells all time favourite Japanese snack; Takoyaki (octopus balls).
The takoyaki are made upon order to retain its freshness and here’s some takoyaki in the making
Takoyaki. Takoyaki is a ball-shaped Japanese snack made of a wheat flour-based batter and cooked in a special moulded pan. It’s typically filled with minced or diced octopus, tempura scraps, pickled ginger, and green onion. In this case, it was filled with octopus bits.
Madame Waffle was our second stop. This outlets served assorted premium waffles with a selection of coffee or tea.
Our waffle, the original Madame Waffle’s waffle. Plain and no frills, the waffles from Madame Waffle is great for those who just want to grab and go.
Tokyo Secret was our third stop. This outlet offers assorted Hanjyuku Cheesecakes and Cheesetarts and is quite a rave among Malaysian food bloggers and instagrammers.
Hanjyuku Cheesetart and Cheesecake. Tastewise? Splendid. They do live up to expectations.
Next on our list was Inside Scoop. This outlet serves assorted premium ice creams, waffles and affagatos.
A variety of ice creams for you to choose from.
Our treat from Inside Scoop; Buttermilk Waffle and Strawberry Yogurt Ice Cream. This was one of the best waffle and ice cream I’ve ever tasted, and I can assure you a revisit is in order. Highly recommended if you have sweet tooth. A bonus? The staffs here are sweet too. They are helpful and eager to please as well.
Gong Cha was the last outlet my son and I visited.
There are plenty of milktea items on Gong Cha’s menu, but we had these: Refreshing wintermelon milk tea and Milktea with Herbal Jellies. Tastewise, they are okay. Great for milktea lovers.
I had a walk in SkyAvenue with my son after visiting Gong Cha but time was rather envious of us and before I knew it, it was already time to go home. Too bad things ended so soon. But well, time always flies whenever we have fun, doesn’t it? Celebrating Mother’s Day in Resorts World Genting was one of the best thing that happened to me as a mother. I feel appreciated with all the treats throughout the day, and oh…the flowers…let’s not forget the flower I received from our host. That was the first time I received a flower on Mother’s Day. It was indeed a wonderful experience and I’ll treasure the memories forever.
Thank you Resorts World Genting for making Mother’s Day fun and meaningful to me.

Ramadan Buffet 2017: Streat Thai, Jaya One Petaling Jaya
If you have been following me on my social media platforms, you’d notice that I love everything Thai; their culture, beautiful tourists attractions, their Lakorns and of course, their delicious food.
Living in Malaysia where the country is pretty much a global village and is opened to international food culture, we are of course spoiled for choices when it comes to Thai food. There are plenty of Thai restaurants around, but if you are looking for those serving really authentic Thai food? Not that many, I must say.
But lucky me though, there’s a few in Klang Valley that serves authentic Thai food and doesn’t actually cost a bomb. Here’s one; STREAT Thai at Jaya One, Petaling Jaya. I’ve written about them HERE about a month back and during my recent revisit, I discovered that apart from the Thai steet food fare that they usually offer, STREAT Thai will be offering a wide array of dishes specially catered for their Ramadan Buffet throughout Ramadan 2017 for all its diners.
STREAT Thai be serving more than 60 dish items for their Ramadan buffet. Some of the items they will be serving is not on their regular menu. Definitely great for those who wants something different than the usual Malay delicacies for breaking fast, I must say and here’s highlighting some of the items they will be serving this coming Ramadan:
Assorted soup and curries. Their curries are very hot and spicy but if you are looking for something light and comforting, opt for their soup instead. They are very comforting and appetizing.
Wrapped cabbage soup
Tomyam goong
Chicken soup
Tomyam fishball soup
Thai Green curry
Thai Red curry
Hot dishes to go with rice aplenty.
Vegetable dishes for those who must have fibre in their meals.
Assorted Thai Style Salads. These are highly flavourful and appetizing.
Mango Salad
Papaya Salad
Fried Egg Salad
Beef with Herbs
Fresh raw veggies to go with spicy sambal
Assorted skewered and BBQ items for those who wants to nibble.
Skewered chicken sausage
Skewered beef
Skewered fishballs
Skewered BBQ chicken balls
Spicy Fishcakes
Hor Mok Fish
BBQ Chicken
Grilled squid
Sirloin steak
Sweet dessert counter offers popular Thai traditional desserts. These are actually hot items in the buffet and I would suggest you to take these at the beginning of your meals instead of finishing your meals beforehand before considering to sample some of these. It would have been gone by the time you finish your meal, and it would be such a regrettable thing as these are to die for.
Coconut jellies
Mango sticky rice
Overall, STREAT Thai is highly recommended if you are looking for a Ramadan Buffet that not only offer a wide variety of delicious food but gives value to your money as well.

Semarak Bangsawan and Panggung Seni Tradisional 2017 to Mesmerize Performing Art Lovers in Malaysia
Love fairy tales and folklore? I sure do. How about whimsical romance or dramatic tragedy? Well, they may induce me into tears but yes, I like that sort of things too. Showcased it live in the form of theatre plays instead of a movie or TV drama serials? I love it even more. Yes. I’m a performing art lover. And so, when I was informed that JKKN (Jabatan Kesenian and Kebudayaan) is making an effort to elevate Malaysian performing arts to the next level by rei-ntroducing the beauty of olden days theatre plays to both Malaysian and international theatre enthusiasts through their Semarak Bangsawan and Panggung Seni Tradisional 2017 program, I knew I had to check it out.

Malaysian Songstress Noraniza Idris Showcased Aura Collections at Permata Saadah Launching
In the fashion industry, some would swear by the statement ‘less is more’, and when it comes to modest fashion or Muslim/Muslimah fashion, I couldn’t agree more. Muslim/Muslimah fashion may not be quite popular a few decades back in Malaysia and were even labeled as akward and backward but these days it has very much improved in terms of designs and the style has taken the nation by storm.
There are plenty prominent names in the Muslim/Muslimah fashion. Among all of these big names, one that caught my attention recently is Aura by Noraniza Idris.
Those who are familar with the Malaysian entertainment scene may recognize this name. Noraniza Idris is one of the renowned songstress in Malaysia who are famous for her ‘Irama Malaysia’ genre songs.
Despite being rather quiet and low profile these days, her charms and talents is still irresitible. Noraniza Idris was recently appointed as the brand ambassador and spokesperson for Permata Saadah (Wedding Events&Catering Company)
Permata Saadah introducing Malaysian famous songstress Noraniza Idris as their brand ambassador and spokeperson during the launching of Permata Saadah recently.

In conjunction with the prestigious event, Noraniza Idris not only serenaded attending guests and members of the media with some of the songs from her newly released single dedicated to Permata Saadah, but showcased her line of Muslim/Muslimah clothing, ‘Aura by Noraniza Idris’ as well. Watch the video of Aura collections by Noraniza Idris being showcased.
Simple and elegent, but still charmingly traditional, the men’s collection, Aura Iman is not only wearable on special events or occasion, but great for daily casual wear as well.
Modest but yet still alluring, the women’s collection (Aura Sari) from Aura is great for those who wanna cover up their ‘aurah’ but still looks fashionable.

Be Enlightened This Wesak Day at Resorts World Genting, Malaysia
Wesak, the most important festival in the Buddhist calendar, takes place tomorrow on Wednesday, May 10 2017—and on this day, devout Buddhists attend their local temple to perform prayers. At Resorts World Genting, the Genting Buddhist Group will hold a number of prayers and activities in conjunction with Wesak Day.
To be held at the Genting International Convention Centre (GICC), First World Hotel from 9 to 10 May, the Wesak Day celebration will include a two-day prayer ceremony conducted by the Venerable Fa Quan from the Da Yuan Jiang Tang Temple in Johor. An exhibition will also be held at GICC as part of the celebration on 9 May, and this will be followed by the presentation of the Buddha’s Relic and Dharma Discourse.
Wesak Day celebration traditionally includes the practices of Giving, Virtue and Cultivation, and the doing of good deeds. The act of giving usually involves bringing food to share, as well as symbolic offerings for the temple and shrine. Virtue, on the other hand, is observed by reaffirming one’s commitment to the moral precepts of the religion, while Cultivation usually includes chanting and meditation.
The Wesak Day celebration at Resorts World Genting will include a series of events including prayers, meditation and chanting sessions, and lamp-lighting. The bathing of the Buddha ceremony is a main highlight, symbolising the elimination of the three evils—Greed, Hatred and Ignorance.
Visitors are also encouraged to participate in the Buddha bathing ceremonies to be held at Chin Swee Temple, 13th Floor Sky Terrace, from 9 to 10 May, 8am to 6pm.
Besides prayers, the Genting Buddhist Group will conduct a fundraising campaign for Sau Seng Lum Dialysis Centre. The centre provides free dialysis care for the poor of all races. As part of the Wesak Day celebration, the Genting Buddhist Group has pledged to contribute to the Dhamagiri Orphanage Centre in order to help fund their monthly expenses that amount to some RM80,000.
