Are You Following Me on IG or These Caribbean/Caribbean-American Moms?

I would like to thank the Academy. Look, I got to practice my speech early for when I make that list. LOL In the meantime, I am geeked and honoured that SocaMom.Com run by Eva Wilson Greene, included me as one of 25 Caribbean and Caribbean/American moms to follow on Instagram. Time to up my […]

We Need to Own Our I

I have no recollection of the first book I read. All I can tell you is that books got me excited to read, to dream. to write, and to see the world. It was very obvious that the books available before the age of 10 were all about children and adults who did not look […]

Day 1 of Blogging for Business Complete

A friend joked last night that I needed to blog about the blogging workshop. So here goes.

I was overwhelmed. I’d known that about 16 people signed up, so there was always the chance that a few won’t come. What happened instead, was that they all came and then we had a few walk-ins. One lady came to drop off her mom then decided to go make arrangements for her children and came back to join the class.

The overwhelmed feeling didn’t come from being unprepared but the sight of people waiting to...

Your Business Cards are Worthless if You Don’t Do These Three Things

I have actually told clients don’t bother with the business cards. It may seem as the thing to get if you are serious about business, but they definitely aren’t the first thing you need or even the second. Give people a reason to want to ask for your card and that is what I shared on LinkedIn recently.

You can read the original article here..

So you’ve finally accepted that you need some extra income or a new job? Good for you. But hold up, don’t rush off to get some fancy business cards pr...

Social Media Marketing and the Caribbean Introvert

Can you imagine anything harder for a business person than marketing with all of the Caribbeanesque rules? How about all of that while being an introvert?

Originally published on LinkedIn

I straddle the world of the extroverted introvert as do many Caribbean people. (Let’s leave how that works for another discussion.) However, I do have quite a few friends in the entrepreneurial space of Caribbean origin who are 100% introvert. Some may be living outside of the region, but they were raised in...

#LevelUp: Brag More Ladies

As I am always pushing friends and family to strive for bigger things, one of the jobs that usually comes with that is looking over resumes. Something that has stuck out more of lates is the difference in how men and women present themselves on paper. I’ve done it so I can spot it when […]

You've Been Here Before

I don’t know why I think I am special and smart enough to learn everything I need to know the first time I hear or experience something. Not saying I am not special or smart but life doesn’t always give you all you need to overcome a challenge in one go. If it were the case, it wouldn’t take us nine months to prepare for having a child, or a lifetime to figure out how to be a better human being.

However, I do hate those moments when I have what is tantamount to deja vu but it’s really the lig...

Why Guide to Good Love is No Longer For Sale

I took Truly Caribbean’s Woman’s Guide to Good Love off the sales list back in 2016 although you will see it on offer on Amazon. I am not allowed to remove it completely. I keep meaning to update it but haven’t.

Why did I do that?

It reflects a time in my life which was a significant period of pain but much growth. However, in my growing I was not very compassionate to myself and to others. I believe the book reflects that lack of compassion for my own journey and does not reflect the grace w...
