Cherry Blossom Snow.

Blossom in winter’s seldom seen,

though imagination lets us dream

of faraway landscapes, in the mind’s eye,

where sea meets shore,

and land meets sky.

The vista is a fantasy -

resplendent with blossom, of cherry trees.

Pagodas- yellow, red, and green,

lend oriental charm,

to this picturesque scene.

As by the woods, and lake we tread,

and blossoms make a lovers' bed,

tranquil reflections of star-spangled sky,

and so serene, that Time drifts by.

The sound of a wind-chime fills the air,

and people come, to stand and stare,

and marvel at the trees that blow,

to cast confetti -

cherry blossom snow.

Psst! I am Holding on to a Big Secret!

Wow - what a wait! But then all the best things are worth waiting for! Believe me, Snugs is on his way!
"Snugs The Snow Bear," is a tale of a polar bear and his urban and not so urban adventures...with a touch of magic dust, too!

Free Children's Book Reviews!

I'm on a mission! Thanks to all the authors who have already submitted their Children's Books, which I will review for free, and gift to a Children's Home in Florida. Books are needed for kids aged from 4-10, anywhere in that range is appropriate.
Simply contact me here, or at birdwriter7 on Twitter, and I will review your book/s and pass the book/s on to the children.
I need 30 books to read and review through end of November.
Just imagine the joy on the kids' faces, when they receive your book/s.
Thanks, so much.

Survival!

I am grateful to all those hardworking people at shelters in Florida who fed and watered people who had to evacuate their homes.
Life for me is back to normal, but I am thinking about those less fortunate, and those who lost their lives.

Hurricane Matthew

My activities on social media may be limited, due to the biggest hurricane in living memory ever!
Bags are packed in preparation for evacuation, should the need arise, and in case we remain at home. copious quantities of wine and water are in stock!
I have cooked up everything and anything in our fridge/freezer, so that if the electricity is out - we won't starve.
Watching nature, as well as keeping a close eye on television broadcasts, keeps us up to date with weather conditions. The birds have flown. Maybe we will, but until a state of emergency is declared for inland states, we will watch and wait, and hope.

How One Childhood Memory Helped to Inspire A Children’s Book.

Those of you who have followed me, and have read my articles about “Snugs” will know of the main story behind my Children’s Series, and, in particular, Book One, which is almost there!

I have already talked about how the magical optical illusion of the “Isle of Wight Polar Bear,” inspired me to write my new Children’s Series.

But, perhaps, equally important to the genesis of “Snugs,” was a craft activity I did with my late Art Teacher dad, (as he was then,) at the age of around six or seven.

I remember asking how to draw a polar bear, and my dad got some lino, and showed me how to make a lino* cut picture.

I remember, we both worked at an old table in the garage. I first practised with a potato stamp, and when dad could see I had the hang of it, I cut the picture of a snow bear into the lino, pressed it into the ink, and then onto a sheet of paper.

Little did I know that decades later, “Snugs” would reappear, larger than life, enchanting, and drawn - much better - I might add, by my very accomplished illustrator!

When you do creative activities with your child, you may spark a memory in them, that will develop into something more, and one that will last forever!

What I need is another 10 books to review!

Calling All Children's Authors!

I want to make a difference to a local Children's Home!
Children's Authors, if you need a fair, honest, well-written Book Review, please contact me now!
In return for a hardback/ paperback/softback copy of your book, I will write a free review, then pass the book on to a local Children's Orphanage, who are in need of Children's Books, particularly for children of kindergarten age, and all the way up to age 11! If you are able to give more than one book, that is even better!
This is a good cause, and I plan to visit the home with a generous pile of books before Christmas.
Reviews will be posted on Goodreads, and on Amazon.
Thanking you in advance. Please enter the spirit of Christmas, and share the love!
I will take the first 30 suitable books offered!
