Eddie Vedder, Steve Jones of the Sex Pistols, Modest Mouse's Isaac Brock and songwriter Joanna Newsom will be featured guests on the new season of the IFC sketch comedy show Portlandia, set to premiere January 6th. Co-created by SNL's Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein of the band Wild Flag, the series is entering its second season. According to the network, other guests will include Johnny Marr (the Smiths) and Annie Clark (St. Vincent).

I just despise that he's not touring the states with this. i love his music, i met him and nearly melted at his feet, i understand Europe's cooler than the US, but i'm not in Europe and I want to see him play again. so yeah.

When Andy [Wood] died, mainly people wanted to know where he got it. People thought it must have been really good, and that he'd obviously just done too much. 'Where did he score that good shit from?' People were sick and twisted with that drug. It really fucks you up."

New Mark Lanegan Band album, Blues Funeral, out February 7 (U.S.)



From the press release: Blues Funeral is the new Mark Lanegan Band record, the first since 2004's Bubblegum. It was recorded in Hollywood, California by Alain Johannes at his 11ad studio. The music was played by Johannes and Jack Irons with appearances from Greg Dulli, Josh Homme et al.
