See what the word “Indie” will do for promoting your books!
The following is an excerpt from Indie Book Lists– a very nice site that has just closed. Why am I showing you this? Because I’ve already said much of the same in the 99cents How-To-Guide, “Jump Start Your Book Promotions!” on Kindle. Read on: Why we stopped posting: Where we went wrong - Calling ourselves “Indie.” Listen, nobody […]

Authors! How to turn a review into a devoted Fan!
Did you know that less than 1% of readers on Amazon go to the trouble of posting a review? Even when they love a book? So when you see a positive review posted for your book, what should you do? For crying out loud--THANK THEM!
I go to Amazon about once a week, look at the recent reviews, click on the comment button and I write something like this: "Thanks so much for your great review. Good Reviews are like gold to authors here on Amazon! If you'd like to be on my private list of readers for the next book, contact me: rp@rpdahlke.com"
I thank the 5 and 4 stars, and many times I thank the 3 star reviewers too--hey, I write entertaining genre fiction, not literary fiction, and if I tickle a reader's funny bone, I'm happy.
AND, If the reviewer is someone who has taken the time to write a really nice one, I offer to put them on the list to get a pre-published book. Why? Because, getting reviews up on Amazon when the book first comes out will help that new book start getting sales right away.

Jump Start Your Book Promotion
My background is in sales. I've owned two successful businesses in my working career--and had plenty of failures too. But my success was built on the premise of every good business --have a good product, do what you say you're going to do, and promote it.
I'd been writing mystery books for over 25 years when I discovered that Amazon could publish and sell my e-books (and yes, NY Publishers had looked, considered, thought about, and then passed on my books). In 2011, My first book, A Dead Red Cadillac stayed up at #1 for one whole week, and remained on the Top 100 for several more weeks. Amazon made a believer out of me!
So, now it's 2014--and things have changed. But do I recommend that you remove your books from Amazon, try something else, stop promoting for paid and free? No, I don't. I believe, and there are plenty of people to back me up on this, that Amazon is going to stay at the top of the heap for years to come. Am I offering you the secret to instant success? No one can do that, and the idea that you're book will be an instant best seller in this market ridiculous, but I can show you how to get new readers, reviewers in this tight new market and best of all,
GROW YOUR FAN BASE. Because, isn't that what you want? Readers and fans who will buy your next book, and the book after that. I make money every single month because I write, promote, write, promote, and promote.
