Federal Association of Consumer Organizations: Consumer advocates are suing against advertising on Amazon Prime Video
The Federal Association of Consumer Organizations (vzbv) has announced a lawsuit against Amazon because the company wants to show advertising on the Prime Video streaming service in the future. Amazon has presented its customers with “a fait accompli,” vzbv boss Ramona Pop told the Handelsblatt . The change was announced at too short a notice and was being introduced without the explicit consent of the customers.
The vzbv initially warned the German Amazon subsidiary for “disregarding consumer rights,” said Pop. The lawsuit is expected to follow in the coming weeks.
According to Handelsblatt, consumer advocates see the placement of advertising as “a significant change to the contract” and, in accordance with legal requirements, the consent of users must be obtained. However, they were only informed about the change at short notice, the vzbv said. It is also a “hidden price increase” because in the future the customer will have to pay almost three euros more for the offer that they had previously received.
A few days ago, Amazon announced that it would place advertising in films and series “to a limited extent” starting next week. The company initially did not provide any further information on the length and frequency of the spots. If you don’t want advertising, you should pay 2.99 euros more per month. vzbv boss Ramona Pop demands that Prime users “continue to be entitled to the ad-free option for the previously contractually agreed amount”.
Amazon rejected the allegations. Amazon spokesman Michael Ostermeier told the specialist portal Meedia that all legal obligations had been met. “Prime Video customers were informed transparently and in accordance with legal regulations by email at the beginning of the year, and the price of the ad-free option was also announced as 2.99 euros.” Customers have “all options and can continue to use their Prime membership with limited advertising as before, switch to an ad-free version or end their membership at any time.”

Pokimane: Bigotry, sexism and chaotic management
At first glance, everything seemed business as usual when Imane Anys, better known as Pokimane, started her livestream last night. Her bright room is tidy, her red and white spotted cat is lying on a small scratching post, Pokimane has headphones on and speaks to her viewers into a large microphone.
The 27-year-old is the most successful streamer in the world. She plays games like Fortnite , Valorant or Among Us while chatting with her viewers or fellow streamers. Pokimane is considered approachable, and in over ten years of streaming she has collected around 9.3 million followers on Twitch alone. As experienced as she is, she seemed so excited yesterday. “Is it online? Did I start it? Hiiii, aaaaah!” Pokimane squeaks into the microphone with a broad grin – for her it is a very special stream because it takes place in a new digital home, namely on YouTube .
Virtual Reality: Will these glasses change the world?
Apple has done it again. While the annual iPhone presentation no longer arouses the great mass interest of the past, this product seems to be fascinating people again: the Apple Vision Pro, Apple’s virtual reality glasses (which shouldn’t be called that – more on that later). It’s now rare for a new device – especially one priced at $3,500 – to be talked about outside of the tech bubble, in podcasts, TikTok videos and in the office hallway. Director James Cameron speaks of a “religious experience” with the Vision Pro. Obviously it doesn’t work below that.

Apple Vision Pro: The future is… not quite ready yet
The US tech journalist Nilay Patel fell in love with a comparison. Apple’s Vision Pro headset is an “iPad for your face,” writes the editor-in-chief of The Verge several times in his detailed review of the product. Many of the Vision Pro apps are essentially unadapted iPad apps. And the glasses are almost as heavy as the Pro version of Apple’s tablet, and so heavy that he often takes the glasses off his head after 30 to 60 minutes.
Apple ‘s Vision Pro computer glasses have been available for pre-order in the USA for a few days, and the first devices will be delivered on Friday. A few selected US media outlets had received devices for testing in advance and have been publishing test reports on the device, which cost almost $3,500, since Tuesday.
