To top it all off, he tries to convince herthat she is not even human. She learns that she is actually a fairy. Not just any fairy, but a fairy who has been destined to become queen of the fairies.

When tragedy strikes, Callie finds that she no longer knows who she can trust. She must learn to survive on her own in a harsh underground world.
She finds herself dealing with the struggles of life and love for the first time. Two gorgeous guys, a bunch of new friends, and a whole new world. Will it be more than she can bear? (Taken from Goodreads)
My Thoughts
Stay is a brilliant fantasy novel. C.C. Jackson does a brilliant job of setting and maintaining the scene throughout the novel. I was instantly transported to this world and was able to stay there for the whole novel.
All the characters have a purpose within the novel and each is described so vividly that they become alive within your imagination.
I did feel that parts of the novel where rushed and more time should of been spent on these areas. For example Callie's training and confrontation with the Queen, the build up was nice and flowed but then it seemed rushed and I feel more time could of been spent on this section within the novel.
Overall I did enjoy this novel and look forward to reading the next installment of Callie's adventures.
A copy of this novel was received for free and all opinions expressedare my own through reading it.

A Day (or so) In My Life
Me and My Son, ChaseThe last few weeks have been so busy. I haven't had a chance to sit down and actually write a true blog post. Today is my day to catch up.
I hope that everyone is enjoying their spring. I sure am. I love warm weather. I grew up close to Baltimore, so you would think that I would be acclimated to the cold but I can't take it. At some point in the 15 or so years that I have lived in Louisiana I have learned that it's much nicer not to have to deal with it. Don't get me wrong, I do miss the snow sometimes. Especially around the holidays. Christmas just doesn't seem like Christmas when it's 75 degrees, but I can live without it.
Easter has come and gone. I was so thankful that I got to spend some time with my oldest baby. (He'll be 19 in June.) He's been living in Maryland with his grandparents and going to school. It seems like just yesterday that he was toddling around. He probably enjoyed Louisiana a little too much. Let's just say that he got a good taste of what Bourbon Street in New Orleans is all about.
I have had to work a lot of extra shifts at work lately, which has thrown off my daily routine. Well, I didn't have to work, but it's the time of year for folks to be taking vacations and such. Not to mention having babies. I guess you could say that I was paying it forward. I am hoping to take lots of time off this summer, and I hope that someone will cover for me when I do.
Only 12 more mornings to have to get the kids up and dressed for school. I am so excited to be able to sleep in. I know that my days will not be as quiet and peaceful as they have been, but I am so ready for a break from teachers and homework. I know the boys are too.
Cinco de Mayo is tomorrow and my BFF insists that I go to a party at a restaurant not far from here. It will be my first experience, but I know that it will be fun. Of course, I am no longer a 21 year old heading out to have a good time. I am a 30 something mom who is bringing her kids, but I am sure that I will still have a lot of fun.
Oh, I almost forgot! I have been trying my hand at writing some book reviews. I am not very good at it, but I'm working on it. I read a ton of books and I felt like I needed to do what I could to help support my fellow writers. I hope that they help you to discover some great reads.
Enough rambling! Back to writing!

The Soulkeepers Review
The Soulkeepers
byG.P. Ching
Synopsis
When fifteen-year-old Jacob Lau is pulled from the crumpled remains of his mother's car, no one can explain why he was driving or why the police can't find his mother's body. Made a ward of his uncle and thousands of miles from home, a beautiful and mysterious neighbor, Dr. Abigail Silva, offers to use her unique abilities to help him find his mom. In exchange, she requires Jacob to train as a Soulkeeper, a biologically gifted warrior charged with protecting human souls. He agrees to her demands, desperate for any clue to the mystery of his mother's disappearance. But soon Jacob finds himself trapped in a web of half-truths, and questions Dr. Silva's motives for helping him.
Review
The Soulkeepers was amazing! I loved the characters and the way they grow into their own throughout the book. The settings were depicted in such a way that I felt like I was actually in the story. The battle between good and evil was captivating and I could hardly put it down.

Six Moon Summer Review
Six Moon Summer
by
SM Reine
Synopsis
Rylie's parents are going through a messy divorce. They send her to summer camp to get her out of the way of their fighting lawyers, but she's just as miserable at the girls' camp as she was at home-- there's nothing vegetarian for her to eat at the mess hall, she hates hiking and archery, and the other campers taunt Rylie mercilessly.
One night, the bullying goes too far, and Rylie runs away. She doesn't get far. It's a full moon, and she isn't alone in the forest. A wild animal mauls her. She's certain she won't survive.
Instead of dying, she wakes up unharmed in her cabin the next morning. The only sign that something has changed are the healed scars on her chest, her increasingly keen senses, and her sudden craving for raw, bloody meat. A boy from the other camp seems to know what's happening to her, but Rylie isn't sure if she can trust herself with Seth.
Rylie soon learns that she only has until the end of summer before she becomes just like the monster that attacked her: a man-eating werewolf hungry for human flesh. Unless she can find a cure, she's only six moons away from transforming forever and losing her life to the hunger...
Review
Six Moon Summer had me from the very beginning.
Riley is a girl who gets shipped off to camp for the summer to save her from the trauma of a messy divorce between her parents.
She immediately finds that she doesn't fit in with the rest of the campers and after a brutal night of dealing with her peers, she takes off.
Something terrible happens, but she has no recollection of what. Strange things start to happen to her that she can't explain, at least until a sexy boy comes to her rescue.
I loved that the werewolf in this story was actually the heroine. It was refreshing to see a girl in this kind of a roll for a change.
The story was exciting and fun to read. I would love to see what happens with Riley and Seth in the future.
I give it 5 Stars* * * * *

An Apple for Zoe - Book Review
An Apple for Zoe
by Thomas Amo
Synopsis
The City of San Francisco is locked in a grip of fear. A series of occult murders has led, Inspector Thomas James, to a crime scene similar to a murder committed 90 years ago in the once grand Aleris Hotel. A place where power barons of the early 20th Century engaged in witchcraft. And silent film stars indulged in the most wicked of sins.
A place where no one questions the black smoke the rises from the hotel's incinerators in the middle of the night.
Review
An Apple For Zoe was amazing. It started out as a crime thriller and turned into something so much bigger. I found myself saying, "where does someone come up with this stuff?" It was simply brilliant. The twist and turns kept my interest peaked and the cliffhanger ending has left me wanting more.
I give it 5 Stars!* * * * *

Title: StayAuthor: C.C. Jackson

My Review:Very Cute read! I loved how I was transported to this very unique world of The Fae. Callie is just an ordinary girl, or so she thinks, until one night she is forcibly taken from the confines of her home, by an ultra attractive man. She can't help feeling the pull and attraction to him and is completely perplexed why. Callie learns from her captor that they are destined to be together, and that she is actually the heir to the throne in Petrona. The Land of The Fae. Fairies. To make matters worse, the current Queen is a phony and a tyrant who took over after Callie's parents (the true Queen and King) fled the land to protect Callie. Now Callie must choose: run away from her destiny or stay and fight for what is truly hers.A quick read, really fun. Love the use of magic and the elements. Callie can sure kick some ass.
My Rating:A cute birthday cake

Reading Challenge
I started out trying to read 75 books this year for the Goodreads Challenge, but I kept thinking that maybe I should go for 100. I came across the Book Chick City Challenge and knew that I could do it. I have plenty of new writer friends who have books that I am anxious to read and what could be a better incentive. Wish me luck. :)
