Writing

I have been working on several books lately rising at 4AM every morning writing,10 straight hours a day. I have never been so exhausted in my life. I finally finished one of my book yesterday in only 30 hours. So my timing is pretty much down and I'm being very productive.

The name of the book is "The Secret Love Letters to Francesca Wentworth." Now I just have 6 more books to complete, but most of them are in the process of being written already. So it shouldn't be that long before they are finished as well.

Since  the storm I had no internet service so there has been no distraction of going online, checking mail, going on social networks etc. So it's been pretty much a ghost town around here and I was in the zone and totally focused.

I think I will leave the net off from now on when I write : )[image error]

Readers All Over the World

By Lisa A. Fraser

Readers all over the world – particularly Europe – know him as Valentinno, the best-selling author of the book A Romantic's Passion: The Tenth Muse.

Valentinno's book, published in January by Authorhouse books, has already sold out in France and Germany. And the tale of love and inspiration, told in various volumes, has already won the hearts of many.

With rich imagery, expressions and eloquent descriptions, A Romantic's Passion tells the story of a man's torrid love affair with the woman who changed his life.

In five volumes of poems, letters, prose, extended verse and photos, Valentinno reveals an intricate web of love and devotion and doesn't hold back as he lets readers into his life with his thoughts and his own photos.

A friend of his, who happened to be a photographer, had always wanted to do something of the sort and together they decided to put together a book of prose and photos.

“I wanted to do something a little different,” he said.

A Romantic's Passion showcases Valentinno's feelings toward his great love with a provocative, uninhibited tone. He was so deeply in love that she became his muse and his life's work. The woman, who also appears in photos with Valentinno, has allowed him to feel so much, he could not resist writing a book about it.

“In one day, I experienced a love more than 10,000 men could experience in a lifetime,” he said.

A Romantic's Passion is an ode to this love, and Valentinno wants readers to feel like they too can have a love like that. Poetry, he says, is the best vehicle to showcase such intense feelings.

“Poetry has a sacred, spiritual, romantic feel when you read it,” he said. “When you read a poem, you will realize how love is a sacred union.”

The 37-year-old author who was born in Brooklyn but moved to Glendale when he was three years old, didn't start out as a poet. He was a screenwriter for many years, before deciding to go down the path of prose. But poetry was always there. At 16, he had his first poem published in a magazine.

“I remember being excited because I had written it for a girl I liked when I was younger” he said. “'I thought it would be something special too do for her.”

Valentinno always felt a connection to poetry, particularly the romantic kind. It was just the best way to express himself.

“Romantic poetry is like a different language. The word usage, the eloquence, the imagery – you can build an entire poem out of one line,” he said.

A Romantic's Passion is not Valentinno's first book. He has three others written under a different pen name. One of them became a bestseller in Europe, and his work has been translated into French, German, Spanish, Chinese and Japanese. He decided to change his pen name to Valentino after requests by readers and friends to adopt something that would match his poetry.

He has written for the Queen of England, and in less than five years he has won numerous poetry awards for his work, including the Dickinson Award.

Valentinno noted that his real-life experiences are the only muses for him. Anything from a memory of a moment to a gesture he once performed or an object could inspire him.

In turn, he hopes that his poetry can continue to inspire others. “I hope people will get a better understanding of love and romance,” he said. “I don't want to be a doctor, but I hope there's something in there that's going to help them.”

Valentinno's book can be found at Amazon.com or at Barnes & Noble.[image error]

Romantic ‘books of the courtier’ for our time

Romantic ‘books of the courtier’ for our time
by Nicole Levy,
Chronicle Contributor

The lyrical stylings of nationally acclaimed poet Valentinno of Glendale have romanced even British Queen Elizabeth II herself. The poem Valentinno composed for the queen in 2008, entitled “O’ Blessed Nightingale,” is today displayed as a personal keepsake of her majesty in Balmoral Castle. Reading the lyric, I imagined that Elizabeth had cast her regal person as that blessed nightingale for whom “the thunder…trembles, / When she beat her majestic wings in flight / Composing that choral symphony that softly serenades / The tranquil night, with that melodious theme.”

When I interviewed Valentinno, he showed me the letter the queen’s lady-in-waiting had mailed him to express her gratitude, citing the envelope stamp as proof of its authenticity. Elizabeth is truly an admirer. This is not to say that Valentinno's poetry is for all. His last two books, published in 2006 and 2007, respectively, have enjoyed a predominately female following because the passionate sentimentality that characterizes his work is “what women want. They don’t really have romance in their relationships, and I think they’re living through romantic poetry. They want commitment and they want connection,” he said, the soft inflections of his sexy voice certainly the dulcet tones of the handsome bard.

When I suggested that his poetry may be construed as a man’s guide to courting a woman with chivalry and affection, Wright agreed: “A lot of woman have said, ‘I wish my husband could think or write like that.’” One fan on MySpace asked Valentinno to pen a poem for his girlfriend: “I said, ‘it would be a pleasure … If you’re having a little trouble … but you have to memorize it when you say it to her,’” he told me with a grin. Valentinno, 37, berated those men of his generation who “need to learn to be more romantic, more gentle, more considerate, and stop being selfish.” ” He considerately sought my feminine affirmation. Valentinno's own personal philosophy is “that a man should explore a woman, besides even sex. He should want to know everything about her.

Valentinno believes a good poet will compel his audience to “read [his] imagery and phrases more than once ... The first or second line has to be explosive, and the reader is going to say, ‘Thank you for that visual’ … Look at Byron’s first line: ‘When she walks in beauty like the night, of cloudless climes and starry night.’ That was gripping” Although Valentinno identifies with great Romantic poets like Byron, Shelley and Keats, he chooses to write in prose-poetry form because it permits the greatest flexibility. His notions of what constitutes good poetry is believed to come from biographies of the great poets, the history of romance, the Bible, and the works of Byron and Keats.

He attended Parsons School of Design for cartoon animation at the insistence of his parents. “I started out as an artist, then a screenwriter, then I did some acting, I was a stuntman, and then I wanted to pursue other avenues,” he said, “and that was my poetry. That was my truest love.” As a stuntman, Valentinno did martial arts, lifts and car drags. Valentinno is fortunate that the works he published with an independent press are bestsellers in Europe, generating steady income. He’s been recognized with more than 60 awards in poetic and literary excellence, including the Dickinson Award, and his work has gained him entrance to the American Authors Association. He hopes to sell the rights to his third book to a major publishing company and to fund an anthology of poems by writers around the world for the benefit of African nations plagued by malaria. I certainly pay homage to this courtier.[image error]

Book Reviews

This book is nothing less than genius! I see this wonderful ethereal quality hearkening to the romantic era. Valentinno's work reminds me of Byron with a bit of the idealism of Keats.
The Examiner

This kind of writing--elliptical, clear-eyed, harboring emotion-- floored me, because I'm usually so cynical about modern poetry. But Valentinno has a knack for capturing the peculiar rhythms of people in love. There's stylistic finesse to naturalism: "Does every brook carry a heart for burning love?" "In palaces of ivory that stand the corner of Eden her beauty bares wings of white wonder, her eyes are made of stars, showering her with first sight." And there's moralism minus the preachiness: "Rising above the white wonders of the clouds where the suns rays are veiled in the eyes of a lady of virtue." In articulating his passion, Valentinno probes the borders of language and memory, and the emotions he describes are instantly real and relatable, referencing everything from Elysium to Eros in a clever nod to bards before. Between heart-wrenching letters and lines of verse, the author takes hard-to-pin-down topics- namely, the subjectivity and conflict of love- and tackles them with zigzagging eloquence.
Ariana R.

“Valentinno is a romantic in the best sense of that word. He captures the divine romance of life through his prose in a brilliant book called “A Romantic’s Passion: The Tenth Muse.” His words come across as if they were written by a 15th century monk who is high on the spiritual bliss of Holy Communion. One can feel this inner joy and “light” he projects with images from his words and phrasing -

Valentinno's poetry evokes those same sacred feelings that come from the work of other divine and mystical poets such as Radindranath Tagore, Rumi, and Paramahansa Yogananda in his book of poems called “Whispers from Eternity.”

To call him a mystic would not be a far stretch – his words certainly convey the feeling that he is reaching out beyond the material world and has escaped the illusions of this reality. If he had been born in another time or place, he could have well been friends with the likes of Blake, Shelley, Keats or Lord Byron. This is tall company but I believe that he is of that same kind of romantic DNA

His words are a perfect bridge to the feelings he is trying to convey. He is not afraid to expose his heart and soul in his poems. Truly a gifted writer and one of immense understanding of things beyond the veil of life; it is no hyperbole to say that his work is that of a young master poet! This poet is destined for greater things then just poetry. He is on his way to self-realization!

William McDonald, American Authors Association.

Valentinno writes poetry with an old world Romanticism that reclaims love in a revolution of the heart. Moving past Post-Modernism into a new era of the Romantic Enlightenment, he celebrates the ancient worship of the Goddess, reinventing love with a new appreciation, as all things sacred. The words fly up to the highest heaven, as if on the wings of angels in reverence of all that is freely given in perfection, within the grace of the Spirit. Valentinno's poetry burns with the Spirit of love.
Rebecca Banks, author of tea at Tympani Lane Records

From the first line I knew this poetry would be a collection of delicious words. Words to savor long after read. But to put into review what the author, Valentinno, has already done so magnificently would be an injustice, but I will try.

Laced often with spiritual uplifting undertones, this collection of romantic poetry, letters, journal entries, and images, is a must-read for the romantic in all of us. Perfect for that Valentine Day, Wedding Day, Anniversary. Perfect for simply sitting on your porch with a warm cup of tea, enjoying the day.

His poetry feels natural, not forced, and elicits images of Earth, nature, God, the Spirit, eternity, heaven. As if reading words from an old fashioned romantic story book, his poetry transcends time and lifts your spirit to a place of absolute beauty.

"My noble Lady,
I love you with everything I revere. When I draw from your lips to commit that holy sin, it feels like the world has stopped, at that very moment in time. I cannot live without you, my lady, and for that I would give my life."
Highly recommended to the lover in us all, to your significant other, to simply adore the beauty within yourself again.

Ami Blackwelder, author of The Shifters of 2040

If there were just two words to describe this collection of romantic poetry and prose, then those two words would be "simply exquisite". There is nothing that I could write that would ever do the work contained between the covers of "A Romantic's Passion: The Tenth Muse" any justice whatsoever.

From the first verse, to the very last picture, I could do little except to become caught up in the magic that was created by this poet. It is no wonder that Valentinno has been compared to Byron and Keats and other great romantic poets. This is one collection that any romantic should have on hand to read and reread.

D.G. Gass, author "Twilight Ponderings, Midnight Musings"

Valentinno’s collection of poems brilliantly captures the whimsical sensation of falling in love

Valentinno’s Romantic poems are absolutely amazing and nothing less than heavenly. On his defining trail of love poetry it brings his muse to life before your eyes. With his passion and wholehearted romance, that reaches out to your heart and steals your breath away.

With each word, he creates a world of passionate air and lovely imagery.

Valentinno is a genius. I am a very big fan of him. His poetry is so touching, and passionate. It has made me melt and cry and a few other emotions I thought I lost. He always paints a beautiful love story that you can share with all your loved ones. If you miss out on his poetry, you’re missing out on a masterpiece.

Samara Ibanez, Playboy

When I read his prose it blew me away. It took me on a magical journey into the unknown. It was so exciting for me to read. Poetry this good is hard to find. I love everything about his poems.

Where every fallen/angel who only bares one wing she takes up/in arms and lifts them toward the sky./Her loveliness is but the beginning where/the beginning has no end and her loveliness/is perfection. She is of infinite providence,/God sent in an image of a mortal woman./But yet in the form of a venerable spirit.

Creating Goals

When it comes to book marketing success, the first step is to define your goals for your book. Until you define what publishing success means to you, you can’t possibly figure out how to achieve it—or gauge how close you are to achieving it.

Every author has a personal vision of what constitutes publishing success. For one author, publishing success might be signaled by receiving a review in their college alumni newsletter. For another author, publishing success will never be achieved until they have made the New York Times bestseller list.

You will want to ask yourself by what benchmarks you will gauge your book’s success—or, conversely, its failure. Now is the time to be very honest and very detailed about just what you hope to achieve through the publication of your book. By doing so you can best determine what publicity, marketing, and sales efforts it will take to achieve your vision.

As you consider your personal vision of publishing success, many factors may come into play—ego, reputation, finances, professional standing, altruism, personal legacy, etc. You might want to consider your goals as falling into one of three categories: personal, financial, or professional
