Flash Fiction

I wrote an untitled flash fiction piece for a possible upcoming project. Enjoy!

I wake up sandwiched between two people in the backseat of a dilapidated car and it’s night and we’re speeding down a deserted road and the headlights illuminate the vast emptiness before us and the radio is full volume and it’s playing ominous music composed of chanting and random banging sounds and everyone in the car is wearing different Halloween masks except for me and they’re all laughing and laughing and laughing.
I shout, “Who are you people and where are you taking me?”
The person to my right stops laughing and turns to me and the mask appears to be a mummy but the face is smiling and the light emanating from the dashboard makes the pale rubber glow in an eerie way that makes the hair rise on the back of my neck. He shouts a response but his words are muffled by the mask and the music and he returns to laughing manically.
The person to my left lifts the bottom of their mask to reveal her mouth and shouts, “You’re mother wanted us to pick you up!”

Writing retreat

Last weekend I attended a writing retreat in Hocking Hills, Ohio. It was hosted by Raw Dog Screaming Press. Ten writers made up the group of attendees. We stayed in an awesome cabin in the middle of the woods. I know... it sounds like the plot to a horror movie. I've included a link to some photos I took during the weekend. And yeah... I wrote some stuff too.
