Listen to This: a couple words, a great divide

In a Cavern, in a Canyon
I just received a copy of The Children of Old Leech, an anthology assembled by Ross Lockhart and Justin Steele. It’s a fine-looking book. Thank you to Ross, Justin, and the contributors. I’m happy to see great reviews coming in already. Thunderstorms are rolling up the Hudson Valley tonight. Couldn’t be a better time to check this out…

Dirda Talks Horror
A nice write-up about horror and the specialty press in the Washington Post by Michael Dirda. Great mentions for a number of authors and publishers who don’t receive this kind of notice every day.

Read This: Knives Out
We live in an age when excellent weird literature is abundant. Nickle’s latest is representative of the best of it. An accomplished pro. You enjoy Stephen Graham Jones, Brian Evenson, Kaaron Warren, Dan Chaon, or Aimee Bender? Try Knife Fight and Other Struggles.

Listen to This: Black Betty Got Her Guns
Speaking of A Mountain Walked, my novella Man with No Name is a yakuza epic. There’s a gunfight, of course. The battle occurs at the estate of an expat American. This is what’s playing:

A Mountain Walks in July
No ordering information yet, but it looks impressive. I have a novella in there called Man with No Name. More in July.
From the Centipede press release:
A MOUNTAIN WALKS
A NEW ANTHOLOGY
EDITED BY S. T. JOSHI
This massive book, which Jason V Brock has nicknamed The Cube for some reason, is nearly finished. At the printer’s right now, it should be off the press and in our hands by mid to late July. Here is a look at the title page, with artwork by David Ho:
This book has over 25 stories, including new stories by Joseph S. Pulver, Sr., Donald Tyson, Cody Goodfellow, Caitlin Kiernan, Laird Barron, Michael Shea, Patrick McGrath, Mark Samuels, Gemma Files, and others. The book also has new artwork by David Ho, John Kenn Mortensen, and Thomas Ott.
The edition is limited to 500 copies for sale. Each copy is signed by Thomas Ligotti, T.E.D. Klein, Laird Barron, Caitlin Kiernan, and many others. The signature pages are signed by 25 people and went halfway around the world for signatures. The book is 692 pages. There are several pages of full color artwork, too.
The book is oversize as well, measuring over 7 x 11 inches tall. The book comes in its own clothbound slipcase and has a stunning full color dustjacket by David Ho and the usual goodies: image on the front board, ribbon marker, and head and tail bands in a gorgeous cloth bound Smyth-sewn book.
Best of all is the price, which will be on sale for a couple weeks for a great deal. This has not yet been determined, but we could say that you’re not likely to get more book for less money than any other limited edition this year. This title has been a long time in the making and with the stellar cast of authors, new stories, excellent reprints, amazing artwork, and impressive list of signees, this will for sure be a classic volume in the field. More information should be coming in the next few weeks.
