Sammy's Thoughts; Throwing Clay Shadows by Thea Atkinson
A fabulously written adult story that reminded me of what it's like to be a child. Thea Atkinson is one of the most versitile authors I have had the pleasure of reading. Her work has soul and THROWING CLAY SHADOWS stays true to her style. The images are so vivid it becomes a stage production in the room. The death of her mother brings incredible grief to Maggie. Her fears become personal monsters of childlike proportions. She feels responsible for her mother's death and worries she will kill...

Sammy's Thoughts; The Bridges of Madison County by Robert James Waller
Robert James Waller has a unique ability to use words in such a simple yet, profound way. I admire his talent. The Bridges of Madison County is a beautiful story about middle age romance, responsibility, and sacrifice. Set in The Heartland, Francisca, a european immigrant, struggles with the more sacrificial values of her adopted home. In this book the author creates passionate and complex characters in a tight manuscript without cheating the reader. Whether you have seen the movie or not, th...

Sammy's Thoughts; The Backdoor to Enlightenment by Za Rinpoche, Ashley Nebelsieck
I really enjoyed this book. 'The Backdoor to Enlightenment' was two-fold for me as a wonderful modern/historical mystery, and a book full of fabulous details and insight about spirituality. I am not sure where this book came from...it seems to have appeared on the shelf of my coffee table one day. Its rather mysterious appearance has always been rather significant to me. LOL Nevertheless, it is a fabulous book with an awesome mystery surrounding an interesting artifact. ...moreI really enjoyed this book. A private library provides the perfect environment for the unique mystery.

Sammy's Thoughts; Fingerprints Of The Gods by Graham Hancock
I am a huge fan of Graham Hancock. He thinks outside of the box, and I often find his theories fascinating. Unfortunately, I can't always draw the same conclusions. "Fingerprints Of The Gods" is an intensive look, complete with pictures of many fabulous archaeological sites.
The pages are filled with Graham's own hypothesis as well as those of others he graciously includes. He does support the idea that civilizations existed much earlier than we have been led to believe. His views support the concept of a much more intelligent early people inhabited the planet. At the very least, whether you agree with his opinions or not, it is very entertaining.

New Features at Sammy Writes Blog
In order to better service my blog, and provide interesting posts for my fabulous readers, I am introducing a couple of new features;Sammy’s Thoughts, and Author’s Character Interviews. The Book reviews, excerpts from books, and my occasional unrelated issues will continue to be part of the mix.
Sammy’s Thoughts is inspired by the fact that I read. There are a lot of books in my past, present, and future. I do a lot of varied research, and many of the books have impacted me. In Sammy’s Thoughts, I will dedicate one to two paragraphs to share these particular impressions. This will also provide an outlet for sharing my passion for poetry. Obviously, these will focus on books I find valuable for different reasons. Often, I will share a tidbit about how I came to read a specific book or something interesting about the author.
Author’s Character Interviews comes from my love of characters. I am a character driven reader and writer. Authors create fascinating and complex characters. We love them; We hate them. This feature encourages the author to discuss his/her characters. Hopefully, this will add dimension without spoiling a novels premise.
I hope you will enjoy these new features. I appreciate the support for Sammy Writes Blog, and the awesome emails and comments, I receive every day. Keep them coming!
Interested Authors, please let me know, especially if I have read your book!

Sammy's Thoughts; The Shack by William P. Young
Like so many others, I love this book! It is a story interpreted differently by each person it touches. The story is about understanding God, Death, Love, and so much more. I own this on CD and in book version. I keep an extra supply as gifts to give to those I encounter experiencing grief or just a rough time. I have yet to give a copy to anyone that did not later thank me deeply for this special book with a dynamic message. I can not express highly enough how much I recommend this fantastic story. Sammy's Thoughts: The Sphinx Mystery by Robert Temple
I read this book as a supplement to previous research on the chambers below the Sphinx and the Pyramids at Giza. Robert Temple and his wife offer a wealth of information in this book. Much of their research found them translating documents referring to the chambers written prior to the 1700's in German and other European languages. It is an intensive study with a multitude of information by an author who is quite thorough and tedious.

“One often feels exalted, expanded, in his presence. He is not one of those egotists who miniaturize others. He is the opposite kind of egotist, driven by grandiosity rather than greed, and if he insists on a version of you that is funnier, stranger, more eccentric and profound than you suspect yourself to be--capable of doing more good and more harm in the world than you've ever imagined--it is all but impossible not to believe, at least in his presence and for a while after you've left him that he alone sees through to your essence, weighs your true qualities (not all of which are necessarily flattering--a certain clumsy, childish rudeness is part of his style), and appreciates you more fully than anyone else ever has.” — Michael Cunningham
