Data Migration Assistant Helper

I have uploaded a repository containing a helper to analyse the Data Migration Assistant tool results to GitHub. I have compiled and improved Microsoft’s version released last March in order to process aggregated results from multiple servers using Microsoft’s static code analysis tool. It can be found below: https://github.com/enriquecatala/Data... which is currently compatible with version 3.1 (the […]

How to Better Evaluate the Goodness-of-Fit of Regressions

This article wants to provide you with the statistical foundation behind the evaluation metrics and with some additional tools that will help you to better understand how the model has fitted. These tools are implemented in a R script you can simply copy&paste into an Execute R Script module in Azure Machine Learning

I use columnstore indexes on SQL 2014. What would be the advantages of upgrading to SQL 2016?

SQL Server 2016 really represents a drastic change for the better in regards to overall performance. And the proof is that, thanks to the engine changes, this is the first SQL Server version where Microsoft actively provides a widespread increase in performance levels by simply upgrading.

How to bulk copy Azure ML Experiments from a Workspace to another one or do a Backup of them in Physical Files

Hi all, today I want to tackle the issue of bulk copying more than one Azure ML experiment at once between different workspaces. May be you already know that you can partially solve this task by copying an experiment one at a time. But you have to access to both the workspaces with your user. If not, you can simply […]

Creating an installer for your SSIS-assemblies

When you develop SSIS packages with custom functionality, either self signed assemblies or script components/script transformations that implement assemblies you got from codeplex, it sometimes become a nuisance to get them into GAC on production machines. What often happens is that when you try to run the package in earnest via the SQL Agent, it […]

Creating and using memory optimized tables in an application

While doing an Internet of Things pilot project for a technology engineering group in Scandinavia we got a chance to try out In-Memory OLTP in SQL Server 2014. What we found was a simple way that can be expanded upon to provision, use and, deprovision the memory optimized objects for the duration of our experiments. […]

That time I used ON UPDATE CASCADE in production

This post will explains a simple use case of ON UPDATE actions in SQL Server. I used it as a quick fix for an old invoicing system in 2013/2014 where business rules dictated ad-hoc handling for some customers.
