I’d grown used to him not wearing a waistcoat or jacket, yet seeing him in just his crisp white shirt and trousers took my breath away. He wore no tie either, revealing a triangle of smooth skin at his throat that I could have stared at all day. If angels were real, they would resemble Samuel at that moment. Or perhaps he was a fallen angel since an air of brooding darkness clung to him.
