off to Maine...I hope
Flight this morning canceled because of the weather but rescheduled for a 4:30 pm flight. Hope to get out then. Visiting Liz Hand for five days. Back Monday night....
So now I have a little extra time to clean up the workspace so it --and the sofa--are usable by house/catsitter.
and some more work can be done.
Second flight canceled. Leaving tomorrow morning bright and early.

Haunted Legends trailer by Thomas Canty
Here's the beautifully done trailer for Haunted Legends-just in time for Christmas--think GIFTS!
The book is available in hardcover and trade paperback.
Plus an excellent review from Fangoria that I missed:
It's hard to pull out quotes as the reviewer showers each story with praise but here's the flavor:
..."This fabulous experiment results in 20 original stories in which modern horror writers look around the world and in their own back yards to flesh out these oft-told tales."
..."The incredible "Oaks Park" by M. K. Hobson is a hypnotically moody piece about the origin of a local amusement park ghost. "Down Atison Road" by the wonderful Jeffrey Ford is the "true" story of something that happened to him in the Pine Barrens of New Jersey. He perfectly captures how and why legends live on: "The mind of the place manifesting in human legends that intersect and interbreed into a vast invisible wilderness all their own." "
...Also worth mentioning is Joe Lansdale's flat-out terrifying "The Folding Man." But towering above them all is grand master Ramsey Campbell's story "Chucky Comes to Liverpool."

So You Want to Write a Novel
Published on November 28, 2010 16:43
Coming....
to a computer near you! A fantastic new trailer created by artist fantastique Thomas Canty for Haunted Legends. It's beautiful and it's haunting--and hopefully will persuade those who see it to purchase the book.
We'll be posting it early this coming week and pushing it around the web.
And for the movies seen this weekend so far:
The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest--a perfectly fine conclusion to the earlier two films-that follows the book pretty closely.
7 Faces of Dr. Lao starring Tony Randall as a bunch of characters (which I hadn't realized until most of the way through the movie) and Barbara Eden, who is lovely in it. Based on the novel by Charles Finney, with a screenplay by Charles Beaumont. Silly fun.
I re-watched Sexy Beast for the third time, loving it yet again. The tour de force performance of Ben Kingsley as a dangerous (and funny) nutcase, the great Ray Winstone, and others in a very British gangster movie. Bravo!
And today I saw Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, part 1 and it was very entertaining. It was a fascinating contrast to watch the abominable movie trailers with BAD CGI, etc, all announcing availability in 3-D. I don't think anything can help the dogs advertised. The special effects in HP are really topnotch and enhance the movie rather than "are" the movie.

Hal Duncan's It Gets Better video
And so you know what I'm talking about in my prior post, here's Duncan's powerful, angry, obscenity-laced, It Gets Better video.
