Peter Ritmeester is a Dutch puzzlemaster and game designer whose lifelong passion for riddles began in elementary school. After studying historical sciences at the University of Amsterdam—while also excelling in chess, bridge, and table tennis—he began his career in 1988 designing board games for Jumbo. He soon transitioned to puzzle editing and, inspired by the first World Puzzle Championship in 1992, embraced the idea of language-independent puzzles. In 1997, he founded his own puzzle company and later co-founded PZZL.com. As general secretary of the World Puzzle Federation from 1998 to 2011, Ritmeester played a key role in the global puzzle community.
