Truth that only monsters were at liberty to tell
She knew he was telling the truth, the kind of unsavory truth that only monsters were at liberty to tell. He had no need to flatter or cajole; he had no philosophy to debate, or sermon to deliver. His awful nakedness was a kind of sophistication. Past the lies of faith, and into purer realms.

Born Surplus To Requirements
Peter has done it again. This short piece is cuts deep despite its understated tone. It’s an “everyday tragedy”as one of the commenters puts it, but a tragedy never the less.

Dreams, fear, haunting voices and a cover reveal
I had a dream the other night. In the dream I travelled to Indonesia with my parents, my kids and my wife. We were there for a job. We were being paid to write some filler for an Indonesian English-language newspaper. When we got there we rented a car. It was some kind of SUV, I suppose. It was a weird layout that I can’t quite remember. We drove it to the office of our supervisor. He wanted to familiarize us with the paper. He had some kind of vision trouble so he didn’t read the printed ver...

Who will join me?
Quick update. I sent the eBook version of Psalm of Hate to an editor. For those of you who aren’t aware of it, PoH started off as a web serial. You can find the episodes here. It started at a time when I was really angry and I think the title reflects that. I’m a lot less angry now but I decided to keep the title. I feel like it would be dishonest to tone it down.
Anyway, the eBook version has a lot more material and several of the scenes are re-written. And there is a legitimate ending. So, i...

Samael’s Song

The aching skies all screamrestraint
no pale flesh to play or taint
But oh, come night! I crave release
At midnight prowls the pale beast,
Tanin’iver with houndsshall ride
Of my mount, a suicide
and I shall take a blackened bride-
some little lemming girl.

The Delete Button – Emails to Young Damsels #2
I seethe with rage and regret each time I hit that delete button. But there are other parties with a stake in our little drama. They have claims, papers and rights. They wave their hands and gnash their teeth.
I made mistakes. I didregrettablethings. You cries and pleas were drowned out by the gag I had stuffed in your mouth. I could feel the tremors in your body as your whimpers turned to moans. Did you think you would die? When did your fear turn to lust?
I think about saving one of our messa...

Your Screams Would be like Music – Emails to Young Damsels #1
Sometimes someone comes into your life and their impact on your heart and soul seems disproportionate to the amount of time you interacted with them. One such person was the girl who turned me on to Italian horror movies. I probably spoke to her on the phone for maybe 1 hour and that was the limit of our interactions. Another is the girl I met in my earlier 20s who inspired my only serial killer story – 37 Teeth for the Earth. Another is the woman who I met at the only Readercon I ever went t...
